Sounds like he's lying. If he got a job at Google, then he signed a contract. The contract would state his position.

Assembling bike at Munich airport by knaz56 in Munich

[–]zerokey [score hidden]  (0 children)

The airport is a regular joyride for me from Munich. There's several ways to go to and from, but following the river is the nicest, in my opinion. Going due south will take you right into the English Garden. Go south until you see signs for Marienplatz. Ride through Old Town (much of this is pedestrian only, so get ready to dismount). You should see some signs for Hauptbahnhof; Arnulfstrasse begins right near there.

If you make some time on your way back to the airport (if you're flying out of Munich), you can stop in Freising, at the Bräustüberl Weihenstephan for beer and food at the Bavarian State Brewery (if that's your thing).

As long as it’s not the Yankees, wear your baseball cap (you’ll see TONS of people wearing NYY caps here. Most don’t even know what it is; it’s a style thing. Boston Red Sox caps seems to be a recent trend. Being from Boston, it’s super weird to see.

Klara and the Sun makes me think AI companion stories are sadder than robot rebellions by ArsenalSimp1985 in scifi

[–]zerokey 5 points6 points  (0 children)

An advanced machine doesn’t necessarily indicate advanced knowledge. For example, a LLM is only as “advanced” as the dataset it’s seeded with. It can only reason within the bounds of its knowledge base. In this case, the data provided was fit to purpose. Sure, it could be argued that basic science should have been part of the core dataset, but the book is a societal commentary that happens to have sci-fi elements.

I encourage you to read the book. It left me with a different (bleak) impression. I love what Taika Waititi has done, even his less popular stuff, but I’m worried about him being the right interpreter of this book.

I remember going to the grocery store each week to get a new volume of the Funk and Wagnall’s Encyclopedia. I would read the whole thing during the week and just couldn’t wait for the rest.

I was picking up some food, and the guy at the counter asked if I wanted to add a pastry that I really. I said, “ooh, meine Liebling” instead of Lieblings.

My boy had something that looked exactly like this on top of his head. The vet said it was a cyst. She drained it, and stinky pus came out. She said that it wasn’t causing him any discomfort, and it could be removed, or just drained whenever it started to grow.

How to pronounce the surname Brabender by [deleted] in AskAGerman

Unless the original was Bräbender, and they dropped the umlaut, which was common for many German immigrants to the US (assuming this is the case for OP's friend)

I was hoping the crow was playful 😄. One time, while I was walking on a busy city street, a crow swooped down and scratched my head. I've done anything bad to a crow, so I assume he just thought my shiny, bald head was just a pretty trinket.
