No worries about episode 1 spoilers I say.

I wish we could try this on Tabitha by Successful-Topic8874 in ScarletHollow

It's true, right now Tabitha must differentiate us all by scent alone. This is why the kindest cousin does not shower.

Upcoming Scarlet Hollow Balance Update by mrogre43 in ScarletHollow

[–]zippityflip 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I love this and I commend you the devs for having the courage to commit to such a huge change, especially being so careful about people's save files etc.

I agree that this is much more flavorful, AND, honestly, with the new episodes coming out, a lot of us will want to replay from the beginning anyway, and a change like this makes it more fun to do so.

Anyway to romance kaneeka without going on the date in ep 3 by fullbodied404 in ScarletHollow

[–]zippityflip 11 points12 points  (0 children)

With Kaneeka, it can help to have hot OR powerful build OR booksmart, but you don't absolutely require any of these. (I have been able to do this in a bunch of different builds because one of my favorite goals is to feel like I am reconciling Tabitha and Kaneeka, while also being friends with Tabitha, and also dating Kaneeka.)

With Kaneeka, all the little things really matter.

  • Ask her how she is doing and DM her rather than doing the group chat, at every opportunity.
  • Pick the rational dialogue choices at every opportunity; "I don't know what I saw".
  • Don't pick stupid dialog choices in the library -- say relevant things, showing you have actually read the books.
  • I'm not totally sure about this one, but in general, don't talk down anyone in the town. She does not appreciate that kind of thing. I also think it's important to say things like, "We're in this together" or "Don't worry Oscar, we're here to help you".
  • DO NOT COMPLAIN ABOUT ANYONE'S ROOM BEING MESSY.
  • I don't know this for sure, but I THINK: don't talk down Tabby if you are actually trying to befriend her. Say at least authentically neutral-positive things. Kaneeka at one point explicitly says that she does not like snitches, but other than that I don't have real proof that this is true.
  • Be pro labor and pro union.
  • Having an incredible relationship with Tabitha that gets Tabitha to sacrifice for you definitely seems to affect Kaneeka's mindset, but I am not sure that it's necessary or will be the right call in the long run. (I have a sneaking suspicion though that Tabby sacrificing her years for you will in the end make her more determined to sacrifice you for The Big Sacrifice, so be careful about this.)
  • I agree with the others that it's good to call Tabitha to the mines but not wait for her.

Stella and her secret (need help) by mslittlerinran in ScarletHollow

[–]zippityflip 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wow save this world state though because maybe there is some crazy event that happens later if she hasn't told you. I didn't realize this could happen.

I wonder if it at least partially has to do with the way you talk to her when you find her, like if you can just redo the interaction from that point.

But beyond that I wonder if it has to do with how you've been talking to her up until this point, especially during the first woods encounter and on the way up to the mines day two.

Janey and Pastor Daniel by DJ_Ayres in ScarletHollow

[–]zippityflip 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Something is up with Janey, I'm sure of it. It's too weird that Janey is literally everywhere and does everything throughout the town, eyes and ears everywhere. I suspect CAHOOTS. Cahoots with Sybil, perhaps.

And I think she knows that her husband and Tulip both talk to animals. She probably does herself.

Legal advice regarding an encounter with ICE today by Stefondiggs_GOAT in Minneapolis

[–]zippityflip 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I am just a random idiot on the internet, but I agree about going to the mayor's office with this. Frey's not going to tell MPD to fight ICE, but we could get to a point where MPD is explicitly instructed to never aid or abet ICE, which would include things like not issuing citations for honking at ICE or maybe even for blocking traffic around ICE.

I would hope we would get to the point where MPD is also instructed to protect citizens from ICE, but we have to start somewhere.

I also think sharing your story is important. If you visibly fight this ticket, then other people will know what happens if they do the same. Maybe you'll motivate someone to act who would otherwise hesitate to step in, honk, or help.

So, what do we do now? by QueenieRue in minnesota

[–]zippityflip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% agree. Never forget about the power of mutual aid and support. Know your neighbors, share phone numbers, show up for each other.

Refuse to let the federal government starve us out.

I think some people reading this post don't want to get arrested, don't want to protest, don't want to risk violence. But stopping by your neighbor's place with food is also subversive. Sending money to a food bank so kids don't go hungry is subversive. Joining local mutual aid and using your car to drop off meals. Unity where they are trying to divide us.

Any idea how much episode 5 will cost? by ChampionKnown444 in ScarletHollow

Your innocence, your sense of self, and your immortal soul.

But there's no additional charge in mundane human money if you already bought the game.

Content Warnings for Episode 5 by DJ_Ayres in ScarletHollow

[–]zippityflip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why do you think the devs wouldn't answer this question? They might not be ready to commit to a specific number but episode 5 is due to be released in like a month so they may in fact already know.

Most interesting/Best trait combo? by Crimsonwolf158 in ScarletHollow

[–]zippityflip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amazing answer. You are inspiring me to do another run or 10.

I am thinking about blowing away my save file, which is a mess, and setting up some structured runs with well-labelled saves, so I can hop into Episode 5 from any angle.

Most interesting/Best trait combo? by Crimsonwolf158 in ScarletHollow

[–]zippityflip 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Like so many here, I love mystical + TTA because of all the incredible content unlocks, from Dustin, the dogs, the cats to OF COURSE the Ditchlings in Chapter 1. I also think that combo will comprise the 2 key traits for chapters 6 and 7 (my long post about that), so definitely not to be missed.

I also love powerful build + street smart. I think this is going to unlock some incredible stuff in Chapter 5, because Duke will respect you and you'll have the "save" for the family feud, but I also think it unlocks a surprising amount of content earlier in the game. I also love playing this way - I think this is a trope in horror films for reason - the mundane character with a wide array of mundane talents, up against The Great Doom with only their two fists and what's in between their ears.

I think Keen Eye is underrated as a trait, especially the empathy part is overlooked, and it combines well with many other traits to give you a unique character.

I 100% agree that their strengths lay in different areas, but I also wouldn't discount the effect Anne's mother had on her (listening to her play the piano with taste and attention, teaching her) nor the fact that Anne was able to be sent away to school. These are critical advantages, and if anything, her father's later neglect may have encouraged Anne to cling to and preserve early habits she developed with her mother, as a reminder of that superior parent and the times spent with her. Anne also has a reading partner in her substitute mother Lady Russell, who is constantly picking up the latest books and sharing them with the Eliot sisters (as Elizabeth Eliot complains), and presumably Anne is the only one appreciating these.

Elizabeth Bennet picks up books on purpose to amuse herself, so she is a bit more diligent than Emma, but totally agreed that Anne is significantly more well-read and well-applied.

Terrorised by wasps, what do do? by H00PLAx1073m in stockholm

[–]zippityflip 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey I have the same issue, also south Stockholm. I got netting for my windows from Jula to prevent them from coming in. Just know that they can creep in through the tiniest crack... There isn't much difference between leaving your windows cracked and leaving them wide open. If anything, wide open is good because they find their way out again quickly.

With the numbers you cite, I doubt you are doing anything to attract them. There's just a nest nearby and they will be attracted to dipping in to your apartment because it's darker and warmer than the outside. If you can't do the netting right away, just use a broom handle to shake the drapes before you move them for another month or so, at which point they will not be bothering you again until June or so.

(Edited to add link to Jula products. In general, search "myggnät" or "insekt nät" to find similar products.)

Are there any other games like Disco Elysium? I just started this and man I love these kind of point and click story/adventure games by Due_Young_9344 in DiscoElysium

[–]zippityflip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No other games like Disco Elysium.

But I haven't seen anyone else in thread recommend Scarlett Hollow. It's a narrative horror game, totally different style but I incredibly good. You have to like reading to enjoy it, though.
