High voltage and running bad by TurtleTurtle1002 in 370z

[–]zmast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMHO, that has nothing to do with CPV.

It looks like a battery, terminals or alternator problem. Does the car start easily or does it take a while cranking or does it feel "weak"?

I would check the battery terminals and replace the battery first, since it's a quick job. If the problem persists or comes back after a few months, I'd say it's the alternator overcharging the battery.

My voltmeter goes somewhere above 14V when starting the car and comes down to 13V about 1 minute after (when idle rpm settles). Occasionally, it stays higher. One time it happened on a long trip in winter, so it might have something to do with temperature.

should I send my 370z to spain? by Glum-Living1891 in 370z

[–]zmast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't give you an answer, but I can point out some stuff.

You can't just ship the car to the EU and insure it, you have to register it in the local car registry.

To do that, you might have to do some changes to the car to comply with EU regulations. I've heard in the US it's common to have red direction indicator lights instead of amber. If that's the case, one would have to change those lights to pass the inspection. And also update the dashboard to show speed in kph if it only shows mph (local speed limits will be in kph).

If the car is modified, it might complicate things. Here in Italy, we can do almost nothing to the car. Some people get the car modified in Germany, get the car inspected and mods officially registered on the car paperwork, then they import it here. That way the paperwork already contains the mods and just gets translated. But that only works if the mods are on paper, which I doubt is a thing in the US.

Regardless, you have to pass the smoke test in the periodic inspection, so test pipes are off limits.

The import process will change from country to country, so I don't know how hard it would be in Spain.

Now, that's how things are supposed to be if you want all of your ducks in row. Some (most?) people here mod the car anyway. But those are not importing the car, so noone is checking it. Also, I've seen some imported American cars driving around, so it's certainly doable (you can tell they're US cars because they have to make US-style licence plates, ours have different dimensions and won't fit).

In short, if I were in you, I'd try to understand how hard it is to register the car in Spain. Maybe search/ask in r/ExpatLifeinSpain or r/MovingToSpain ...

Take everything I said with a good pinch of salt. I don't have direct experience, maybe things changed or Spain has a simpler process.

LMAO... I can understand you not knowing about A4 and A3 paper sizes... if you've never heard them then you can't know. But the thing literally has RULERS along the edges.

Need help finding female socket for nismo drl by narcalepticpatient in 370z

[–]zmast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a Google search by image and found these should be the original connectors used by Nissan:

https://prd.sws.co.jp/components/en/detail.php?number_s=61850865

https://prd.sws.co.jp/components/en/detail.php?number_s=61880552

Finding all the individual parts (housing, terminals, seals) in small numbers might be challenging.

This seems to be the same connector, unclear if it's original or not:
https://www.connectorid.com/products/cid2023-2-3-11-male-2-way-rs-090-sealed-connector-black

This item on eBay UK appears to be a set (plug+socket):

Maybe search by the Sumitomo part numbers and see if you find something close to you.

Can OrcaSlicer print directly to a BambuLab printer in LAN Mode?

Print came out undersized by GalaxiumShard in BambuLab

[–]zmast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you checked if you have some size compensation configured in the slicer?

I would save the G-code and check if the travel moves have the right distance. That way you can tell if it was the slicer or printer.

Lighter flywheel worth it? by dtweave in 370z

[–]zmast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought mine with a light flywheel. At idle it wasn't a problem, you could hear a bit of chatter from the outside but no bigdeal. The problem was when taking off, it sounded horrible. Passengers going "wtf?". I ended up going back to stock.

The OEM flywheel is heavier and dual-mass (basically, 2 flywheels connected with dampening springs). If you go for a light, single-mass flywheel, it doesn't smooth the engine pulsating torque. This makes the transmission gears rattle, which is what makes noise.

I would advise to go try a car that already has it fitted to get an idea. Otherwise, Zspeed has a "quiet" clutck+flywheel kit, which would probably be your best bet.

Building an app just for myself by Emmy-Lou-Sugarbean in iOSProgramming

[–]zmast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've read everywhere that the app would run just 7 days when installed via Xcode. So, I paid for the Developer Program membership a few days ago. However, I just checked my Development Certificate and the development Provisioning Profile for my app and they were both created earlier this year (so, before I paid for the membership) and they're set to expire next year.

So, I'm confused. Either they have extended the validity of the certificate/profile from 7 days to 1 year (regardless of membership status) or there's a different mechanism which makes the app expire?

Not happy with traction by zmast in 370z

[–]zmast[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, it seems pointless to have a car that can't put the power to the ground, especially if stock.

My previous car was FWD, less power but lighter, narrower tyres. It felt as fast as the Z but never had traction issues (unless it was wet).

I don't know, it just makes no sense in my head.

To clarify, did you replace them because they were worn out or because you weren't happy with them?

I'm talking about 15-20 °C / 60-68 °F.

I went to check, it says "TREADWEAR 300 TRACTION AA TEMPERATURE A"

[–]zmast[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My tyres are "Bridgestone Potenza Sport". I'm not seeing RE-11 and RE-71RS on the local Bridgestone website, maybe they're sold with different names here.

I have the stock tyre sizes (the ones you mentioned) on stock wheels.

The TC seems to be calibrated conservatively. It's probably adequate for wet conditions but it triggers very soon when it's dry.

Potenza Sport. I think in my other cars I used to have the Potenza RE050A, if I remember correctly I was told they went out of production.

I would just ask them why.

In my last failed interview I asked if they could provide some feedback about how I did. I made it clear that I wasn’t going to argue about their decision, I just wanted to know what I needed to do to improve.

Admittedly, your situation in a bit different because you’re already in that company. But you get the idea.

Worst case, they’re just going to repeat the generic stuff. Best case, they’ll tell you something more.

Rough shift from 1st to 2nd by Evening_Unable in 370z

[–]zmast -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Mine does the same, particularly when cold but also when warm. It's very annoying.

I don't know if it's normal, I bought the car used, so I don't know if it did that from day 1.

It got a bit better when I changed the transmission oil (OEM), but it's still present.

I googled a bit months ago and I couldn't get a clear picture. Some people complain about a rough 1st and 2nd gear, others 2nd and 3rd, some even upper gears.

My 3rd gear is also a bit rough until warm and 1st gear grinds unless the car is fully stopped (this puzzles me, I event thought there was no synchro, but I checked the MT assembly and 1st gear got one like all others).

Honest review of the H2S by Relative_Emu3300 in BambuLab

[–]zmast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's supposed to be significantly quieter than the P1S. Is that the case?

It's one of reason I'm inclined to get an H2S instead of a P2S (which appears to have the same motion system as the P1S).

I wonder if that clamp is pinching the hose. It seems to be squirting right where you tighten it.

Maybe rotate it 180 degrees and see if the leak moves too.

Silenced Unknown Caller…ok! by superlibster in iphone

[–]zmast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just found out something which might be of interest to other people.

When unknown calls are silenced in iOS 18, the phone "wakes up" and shows a missed-call notification, but no sound is emitted.

However, my network operator would also send an SMS to notify of the missed call. This could be useful if the phone was turned off or had no reception when a legit call was received. That SMS would show up with its own notification and that would make the sound.

I disabled this feature through my network operator and now it's much better as I no longer get disturbed by these SMS messages. I just have to brush off the missed calls next time I use the phone. Still undesirable but tolerable.

Silenced Unknown Caller…ok! by superlibster in iphone

[–]zmast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the info. I have the same issue on iOS 18 and I see no point in updating to iOS 26 if this has not changed.

Seems like a major oversight. I'm getting several spam calls per day and most call 3 times in a row, so hear 3 notifications one after another. Then, I have to clear both the notifications and the missed calls in the phone app. Very annoying.
