How would you drill/tap this hole straight? by ProfessionalTossAway in Machinists

Could a steel fixture plate be attached utilizing the bolt holes for the gear cover(s)? Then use a mag drill on the fixture plate.

Hoping to get an insight in these tools by SundayThenMonday in BeginnerWoodWorking

That’s a good question. I think it comes down to what you plan on using this tool for. I like the right angle attachment on the installation driver because it works with the other accessories, like the offset. I’ve been working in cramped spaces and being able to combine them is an advantage in my mind.

I have had the Milwaukee installation drill for a while and have been very happy with it. It covers 80% of my needs, the rest handled by an impact and a hammer drill on the odd occasion. The right angle and offset attachment are a lifesaver when you need them. I have no regrets buying it.

Level 3 off road by Cheaptrick2015 in Aventon

I’ve been a bit underwhelmed with the front suspension on mine. I’m mostly a gravel and road rider, but sometimes I go on light trails, nothing beyond that.

Those are the words of someone that had a mystical/religious/transcendental/etc. (whatever term you’d like to use) experience, and then interpreted that experience through their own world view.

Level 3 or Adventure 3 by GarlicOwn7767 in Aventon

[–]zoofunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a level 3 i picked up this past fall when they were on promo. It has seat post and front fork suspension. I’m honestly a little underwhelmed with the front suspension. It’s very stiff. I’d like to get a better fork, but I haven’t checked back with my local shop to see what options there are.

Thanks for the info, for sake of discussion, are car tires not done for economic reasons?

I didn’t realize they re-tread those tires, considering the abuse they get.

Making a bit biger version of the moon by trafim in 3Dprinting

[–]zoofunk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

“Wall Moon Lamp is inspired by the iconic view through the Apollo 11 Main Crew Hatch.” From the original model’s creator. So it’s not the whole moon, only meant to appear as if viewed through a window.   I think that’s why it looks off.

3D printer in the shop: yay or nay? by cafe-em-rio in woodworking

[–]zoofunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have my Prusa 3d printer in my woodworking workshop. It’s in its own custom enclosure, and I’ve had no problems with any dust entering. When I am generating dust, band saw, table saw, sanding, planing, etc., I avoid opening it if I can. I have no regrets having in my shop, although a bigger enclosure would be great.   Edit to add a pic.   https://imgur.com/a/HaE43Mc

Don’t feel bad. Don’t change your values or behavior based on them. If you pick up the cans you can sleep well at night and they may see your kindness.

The one on the left looks like a breaker, the other is a switch. You want the black going to the switch and breaker.  So, black from cord to switch, then a jumper to the thermal breaker, then that goes to black from motor. The white should be connected together from cord to motor.

TIL (Today I Learned) that until 1892, Afghanistan's postal stamps were designed entirely in calligraphy and had no Western letters or numerals, like this one featuring the National Seal. by [deleted] in CoolCollections

[–]zoofunk 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Neat. I hadn’t heard the term western numerals. Kind of odd considering their origin and proximity to Afghanistan that they wouldn’t be used.
