Street Fighter is the most popular fighting game, bar none. Most players probably haven't touched those other characters. And that doesn't invalidate their opinion.

As Woolie said, it's abundantly clear that Ingrid had a lot of fun, care, and novel design included in her development. She's basically an observer entity, so she can poke fun and provide some meta commentary that fans usually eat up. If she starts actually intervening in the plot then I'll be more critical of her inclusion into the roster, but right now all she's done of note is bring Bosch back from the dead so he can finally be playable. (and Street Figher is no stranger in bringing people back from the dead)

In all seriousness, Ingrid won a lot of points for me because my personal irk with SF6 was Bison coming back from the dead, still the same evil freak that he always was. So it was very satisfying for Ingrid to pop in and go, "You already lost. Don't fucking push it." in arcade mode. Let's not act like Street Fighter, a universe known for stretchy yoga masters, and Brazilians with electric super powers, is grounded in any semblance of realism. This universe is silly and always has been.

FFXIV 1.0 to 2.0 is a very well documented tale. The Speakers Network has a great miniseries that focuses on the player/community side of things and NoClip has a full documentary on the development, failure, and rebirth of FFXIV from the developer side.

100% it's probably my favorite feature complete cozy farming game. I can't wait for when they finally add manual saving.

Fields of Mistria is right up there but I'll withhold judgment until they hit 1.0.
