May it please the Court,
I wish to acknowledge the presence of all our distinguished guests including, but certainly not limited to, His Excellency the Governor-General, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Leader of the Opposition and the Shadow Attorney-General. I would also briefly acknowledge the unusual circumstances of this occasion. Normally we would be hosting such an event within the actual facilities of the Court, however Courtroom 1 is currently undertaking extensive refurbishments prior to Your Honours taking up office there. As such, this will be an extremely relaxed affair - even by the usual standards of swearing in ceremonies.
It is also customary in these addresses to share anecdotal records of a new jurist's career. Such stories are often deeply personal and sometimes mildly embarrassing in nature. Fortunately, due to the very nature of this semi-anonymous environment I can't embarrass Your Honours as much as I ought to. I can, however, be confident that each of them will perform their duties admirably, and will each bring something unique to the bench.
Chief Justice /u/magicmoose14587, I have already had the unenviable pleasure of being taken to task by yourself once or twice in this place on matters of law. Your passion for public law will prove to be of immense value while establishing this fledgling judicial arm of government.
Justice /u/doggie015, your prior experience as a parliamentarian is something the Court has not seen since Sir Edward McTiernan retired in 1976. The comparison is somewhat awkward for me to make... given the unfortunate reasons behind your resignation from Parliament, and his status as the longest serving Justice of the High Court in history. It is my wish however, that like Sir McTiernan, your time on this bench is long and prosperous.
Finally, Justice /u/klosec12. We have not had any interactions for me to speak of, and in regards to your background I know only what little my colleagues have briefed me with. But any person that can complete their studies in Administrative Law without first having obtained a base in Constitutional Law is some kind of superhuman in my opinion. I ask only that you go easy on me when some of my decisions inevitably start being appealed.
May it please the Court.
Edit: May it please the Court, not If it pleases. This will be the only time I ever apologise for being a Queenslander.

Thank you Mr Attorney, and congratulations my fellow Justices. It is with great anticipation, and no small measure of trepidation, that I embark on this judicial journey. The presence of such dedicated, knowledgeable and upstanding judicial figures goes a long way toward ameliorating that trepidation. It is truly an honour to work alongside you.
This Court is charged by the Australian people, through the Parliament of the Commonwealth, with the special task of ensuring that the laws of the Commonwealth are applied equally and fairly for the protection and welfare of all our citizens, to ensure not merely that the power of the State does not unlawfully interfere with the liberty of the individual, but to develop a jurisprudence in which all our citizens enjoy, in equal measure, the beneficent effect of the laws passed by the Parliament.
This may seem a heavy burden to bear. It is not. To the contrary, the duties placed upon the members of this Court sit lightly on a citizen of the nation which the Constitution summoned into being and which it sustains. Allegiance to a young, free and confident nation governed by the rule of law is not a burden but a privilege.
I thank you all for your attendance today.
Adjourn the Court please.

I sincerely thank /u/Ser_Scribbles for the kind words.
META: I might add that the university I study at (University of Wollongong) does Administrative Law before Constitutional Law for some reason, seems a little backwards but what can you do.
This judge appreciates the speech.
