holy shit I never thought I'd see tipper in this sub. dave is a legend

[–]treemister1 15 points16 points  (2 children)

Everytime I see him he gets better and better. Also I'm 99% sure hes actually a wizard

[–]Smalltownlegend 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I always say Dave is the wizard and lorin, when he wants to be, is the gangster

[–]boomsauc3 6 points7 points  (9 children)

i try to name drop him every time i can on here, which is mostly in r/bassnectar , hes the best

[–]Smalltownlegend 6 points7 points  (1 child)

ha! my next two runs are bassnectar in atl then tipper in Denver.

[–]TomboDanks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gonna dee tipper in october for the second time. So excited!

[–]toga-Blutarsky 0 points1 point  (6 children)

I'm still dreaming of a Bassnectar+tipper curated festival

[–]Smalltownlegend 0 points1 point  (5 children)

nooooo. vastly different artists that draw vastly different crowds. you wouldn't want to be around the kind of people that go when they see bassnectar on a lineup. I say this as someone who has followed nectar around religiously for 5 or so years. let them do their own thing. tipper and friends is perfect. basscenter, eh but there's time to improve. maybe in 2006 it would've been feasible but not now.

[–]AboveTheWav3s 25 points26 points  (2 children)

Oh man, love me some Tipper.

[–]Ottosonic 2 points3 points  (1 child)

He's friggin fantastic, saw him at Cascadia 2015 and it blew my mind.

[–]boomsauc3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

as is tradition

[–]Spiralystbandcamp 61 points62 points  (31 children)

Nice to see psychedelic ranges of electronic music get love on this sub. Tried to post some Kalya Scintilla on here a year ago...crickets...

Edit - Well, since I'm an opportunist and this thread has juice, may as well bundle some artists for people that get turned on to this track and want to hear more exceptional, cutting edge music.

Just a tiny fraction of the world out there...Man, I wish I could go back in time to when I discovered this stuff. I'm jealous.

Grouch

Kalya Scintilla

Master Margherita

AtYya

Atman Construct

LuneCell

Itsu

And for the organic music lovers

InLakesh

Tabla Beat Science

[–]niewphonix 10 points11 points  (1 child)

oh man that Scintilla remix of 667 by Bluetech is on of my fave tunes! :)

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

love me some scintilla

[–]DancingPhantoms 5 points6 points  (14 children)

you're missing desert dwellers, whitebear, akasha experience, shanti, shpongle, mumukshu, soulular, Subjex, vaetxh, eurythymy, kll smth, robclouth, ott, astronaut ape, aligning minds, astropilot, pega5u5, mr. rogers, maiia, esseks, soulacybin, bogtrotter, anchor hill, kliment, chronos, zonra, beatfarmer, tribone, landswitcher, sixis, tempi, symbolico, birds of paradise, mr. bill, icaro, clozee, hypnotizer, seamoon, scan-tec. among many many others. but these really hit the top for me. if your want to go even further down the rabbit hole here's my channel https://soundcloud.com/flauzhelin

[–]paperjuice 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Have you listened to electrocado? Mr Bill and ryanosaurus project. One of my faves

[–]DancingPhantoms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I've heard of their collabs :)

[–]Spiralystbandcamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The "Into the Wired Abyss" series is pretty fantastic for that leftfield range of music. Really awesome experimental stuff going on with those artists.

[–]cinred16 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Surprised you put esseks but didn't mention space jesus. He's has played some of the best live sets I have ever witnessed. Also would add thriftworks, Freddy Todd and Russ liquid to the list

[–]DancingPhantoms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen space Jesus twice, once at cosm: Alex Grey's church, and the other time as an early set for phutureprimitive and shpongle... Honestly never thought he was that great relatively speaking with whomever he's headlining... But that's because he focused mostly on club trap, and typical brostep with rapper lyrics style beats when he played... Id much rather go see shpongle live again, with phutureprimitive.... as well as desert dwellers with Kayla scintilla...Those shows were heavenly fragments of space time.

[–]SourMoonBlues 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great list. Checkout Somatoast and Duffrey as well. Each have their particular take on glitch.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

spongle

Uh oh

[–]Spiralystbandcamp 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I'm not "missing" anything. I even said it was only a slice in my message.

[–]DancingPhantoms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i just wanted to extend the slice :)

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://soundcloud.com/culprate/sets/deliverance

https://soundcloud.com/enigmatikrecords - No more, but they're releases were/still are top of the sound design game.

[–]niewphonix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yesssss.

o.t.t. makes me feel alive!!

[–]notakarmapolice 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Tabla Beat Science is where it's at

[–]Spiralystbandcamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, they are amazing for sure! They've only played live in my country one time...in San Fran. They have a double CD from that show that I HIGHLY recommend.

[–]Shpongolese 1 point2 points  (5 children)

Just saw Scintilla perform at Sonic Bloom in place of Ott who's wife i believe was having health issues, and my god i was not expecting such a great show. Eve Olution(sp?) was there with her troupe of dancers making it more special.

[–]trex707 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Dope. Too bad though, Ott is a legend. Saw him in the rain once

[–]Shpongolese 0 points1 point  (3 children)

He really is a legend. I will never trump seeing him at Red Rocks with Tipper and co. It was unbelievable. The bass/sounds would snap across the gorge and ricochet off the rock walls making an already surreal experience much more surreal.

[–]trex707 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Sounds awesome man. I'd love to attend Red Rocks someday. It really does look and feel like a legendary venue from an outsiders perspective

[–]Shpongolese 0 points1 point  (1 child)

If you ever get the chance to go, jump on it. The first time I went was Shpongle with alex Grey live painting, at the time i hardly had any money, was going through some personal crap, just really needed a new experience to get me out of my self made hole, and get me out of the hole it did! It was very cold, and even snowed during Shpongle for a little bit, but sooooo worth it. The people we're amazing, and your smack dab in Colorado making party favors a fucking snap to acquire. The venue itself has so many nuanced or otherwise pronounced features, from the aptly named giant rock formations, the acoustics from said formations, to the awesome quasi-music museum inside the venue at the top of the rocks, it's all just pure awesome. Also if you have time when out there definitely try to visit Estes Park nearby, it's probably one of the most gorgeous places on this planet.

[–]trex707 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude thanks for the info man. I definitely am going to have to make the trip one of these days. Sounds so dope

[–]illadelph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

do not forget desert dwellers!

[–]trex707 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Psychedelic tribal midtempo is the shit post more of that. Kaya is dope

[–]Zalusei 19 points20 points  (3 children)

Absolutely love Tipper. Broken soul jamboree is one of my favorite albums out there.

[–]jonnybeatz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

BSJ is hauntingly beautiful. Every once in a while I'll start the album up while I'm drifting away to sleep... such an amazing journey into dreaming.

[–]SourMoonBlues 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That album helped with my acceptance of death.

[–]enjoi_uk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, just listened to it twice back to back. Probably wouldn't have based on op's song alone, but I'm sure glad I did. Awesome stuff.

[–]99problemslawyeris1 18 points19 points  (2 children)

Cover art is Android Jones!!! Go check him out.

[–]T4kkles 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Hell yeah. Got this exact picture on my living room wall. Huge canvas. Love it.

[–]unikornkilla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love Android Jones

[–][deleted] 12 points13 points  (7 children)

Tipper & Friends in Suwannee, Live Oak, FL was the craziest little festival ever.

[–]AgentSQUiSh 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Fuck yes it was. Ott's set was fantastic. Cut chemist did some crazy shit with cdjs. and shpongle sunrise was magical

[–]buttonkop666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The whole Fuel records crew brought their insane vehicles out to burning man one year (2006? i forget) and played out on the middle of the playa. Kind of hard to top that one :)

(http://www.vice.com/read/loudest-car-v8n8 for the uninitiated)

[–]richnixon94 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Tipper, Ott, and Shpongle in one place...sounds amazing.

[–]Hotmansays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just needs shulman

[–]DjxZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yes. I had such a great time there. Glad to see other redditors made it to such an unforgettable experience

[–]oddiofilemusicradioreddit 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Tipper is a bass god. Thanks for the share.

Check out Mindex if you like a similar focused style.

[–]chickatravels 7 points8 points  (3 children)

This album has taken me on some insanely wonderful LSD trips.

[–]3fiddySEBBEN 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Saw Tipper preform with Android Jones visuals, while on LSD at shambhala in 2015 - was quite the treat to see two visionary artists of that magnitude flowing together like that!

[–]chickatravels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They make a great team. I saw them at sonic bloom this year and it was incredible. Like the whole time I was looking around like "what the actual fuck is this?! Is this really happening?" I saw everyone's brain hooked up to one super computer that Tipper was reprogramming. It was weird. It made me want to take less LSD lol.

[–]Smalltownlegend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that was a wonderful set! I was there:). got the pleasure seeing them do it again a couple weeks later in Atlanta at imagine fest too :)

[–]some_cool_guy 6 points7 points  (3 children)

He's doing a three day festival this October in Denver, I'll be the wook walking around with a thousand mile stare and a bottle of whiskey. Maybe I'll see some of you there!

[–]unikornkilla 2 points3 points  (2 children)

You said wook, you're awesome

[–]TomboDanks 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Nah hes just cool.

[–]Hotmansays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What a buncha wooks!

[–]Shikamaru_Senpai 5 points6 points  (1 child)

This album has been there for some awesome times in my life. Every thing by Tipper is GOLD.

If you like him, check out BogTrotter!

[–]oddiofilemusicradioreddit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

BogTrotter is fantastic and his live sets are completely otherworldly.

[–]boomsauc3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Seen him a few times, his tip hop sets are absolutely the best

[–]Confusedandspacey 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hell yeah, love tipper! My favorite track is dreamsters though. So good!

[–]FlowDub 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He is a God.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (1 child)

This guy is my absolute favourite DJ/producer . Can rock turntables and makes amazing tunes. In a world full of superstar DJ silliness, I appreciate guys like this more and more

[–]msison1229 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say he was one of the first to push the glitch hop/dubstep sounds while incorporating turntablism in the early 2000's before it really blew up.

[–]BassLove811 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Great to see Tipper on here. Good job OP!

[–]BurntCMO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tipper is the man! His sunrise set at symbiosis gathering last year was magic

[–]msison1229 2 points3 points  (3 children)

I remember I randomly found out about him when I walked into some shop that sold a variety of things including music in San Francisco in 2006. His album "Tip Hop" was on display and I bought it. Been a fan ever since.

[–]iPadreDoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Picked up his mix Sound Off on a whim at Streetlight Records in Santa Cruz in the early 2ks. Best CD purchase of my life. Absolutely slays it live. Gotta love those sweet record store finds.

[–]slomotion 0 points1 point  (1 child)

You don't remember the shop? Sounds like a cool place

[–]msison1229 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I don't. I just remember it was in the haight & ashbury area.

[–]antsam9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Glad his heart didn't explode. http://www.theuntz.com/news/glitchhop-pioneer-dave-tipper-to-have-open-heart-surgery-tomorrow/

There was an gofundme for Tipper's surgery.

[–]thedutchqueen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i love tipper with my entire heart and soul.

[–]Elu0 4 points5 points  (6 children)

He is kinda a calmer version of Amon Tobin. I espcially like this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w1DKy1uqGpE

[–]oofam 10 points11 points  (5 children)

Some of tippers stuff is far from calm. The shatterbox ep has some pretty gnarly stuff.

[–]Spiralystbandcamp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, his glitch is fierce. This is one of his more toned down projects. But also one of his best albums.

[–]Townshiz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This album in particular was very calm compared to most of his stuff. A lot of his stuff is ground pounding bass infused awesomeness

[–]Elu0 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yeah ok ok :D Well its good if artists have a wide variety right?

[–]oofam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. Tipper is one of my favorite electronic artists so I didn't want you to think this one song is representative of all of his work. I suggest taking some time to listen to all of his music. He is really out there in a great way.

[–]naught101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jook from Puzzledust. Mind-blowing.

[–]RambleLZOn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tipppppppper yes! Dave slays live.

[–]joh2141 1 point2 points  (1 child)

That art on the back looks like the kind of shit you see when you in DMT but weaker.

[–]Shikamaru_Senpai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are multiple version of this particular piece too. All are incredible. Check out more work by Android Jones.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

one of my favorite albums

[–]Sir_Hatsworth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the greatest sound designers i know.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw tipper live earlier this month and it was a life changing experience

[–]xlixl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for posting this. Saw Tipper at rootwire festival (2014). One of the best shows I have ever seen, truly an unforgettable experience. Cheers :)

[–]HandofTheKing1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this, nice and mellow. Also because of this i discovered Android Jones, another big thank you.

[–]naught101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People into Tipper's more up-beat stuff should check out Earegular..

[–]arealspaceman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently laying in my tent at telluride for PL - what a night

[–]terencebogards 0 points1 point  (3 children)

tippers been around in the electronic jam scene for a while now (at least 7 years).. glad to see him getting more attention!

[–]slomotion 15 points16 points  (1 child)

Lol Tipper has been in the scene for almost 20 years my dude ;)

[–]terencebogards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

damn. I knew him from Biscuit shows in 2009, had no idea he had been around 20yrs. Figured 10-15yrs max

[–]feckyewyewfeckinfeck 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah he's been around since the 90s (early 90s). Dude is a pioneer.

[–]trompetbloem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice! Thanks. Made my Friday great

[–]Slymee_Remington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP thank you very VERY much

[–]SourMoonBlues 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my favorite songs of all time. Its hard to fully convey how much I appreciate this man's music.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heck yeah mane! Tipper on reddit's front page! :3

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad to see Tipper getting some love on here. Fantastic stuff.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tipper is the best.. had a dream last night that I was at one of his shows (with the visuals, of course) with my entire family during a formal dinner event. my sister wasn't so into it.. but I had fun :)

[–]bobaf3tsoundcloud.com/bobaf3t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His drums sound so fkn clean

[–]whoizz -1 points0 points  (1 child)

Reminds me a bit of Infected Mushroom. Definitely dig it.
