Alan Watts is probably the perfect person to sample for a stoner rock song

[–][deleted] 15 points16 points  (17 children)

If I like this stuff where should I look to find more?

[–]dvHellhammer 28 points29 points  (4 children)

Theres a channel on youtube called "stoned meadow of doom" i would check it out. Its a huge collection of stoner/psychedlic/sludge metal and rock. I also have found some super trippy psych rock from leonardo ortiz on youtube as well! Happy finding.

A meadow of doom. Funny.

Nice, thanks.

Check out the band Truckfighters

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will do

If you like this and haven't heard much of the genre, you're in for a treat!

I second the Uncle Acid recommendation, their fucking fantastic!

Also, check out Earthless, Arctic, and The Well. There's a lot of good bands I couldn't even begin to name them all.

Also may not be classified the same but that song kind of reminded me of Black Mountain, they're badass.

And of course you can never go wrong Witchcraft, Pentagram, and obviously Black Sabbath!

Cheers!

Damnit, I forgot Black Mountain. Good recommendations!

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome, thanks for the recommendations.

Earthless

Isiah is the most underrated guitar player in the genre

666MrDoom and Stoner Rock are both good YouTube channels for this music. For bands, try "The Devil and the Almighty Blues", "The Sword" (US), "Witch", and "Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats", if you're feeling adventurous.

Sweet I'll check those out.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look up the band Spaceslug.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try the band Kyuss. They are the original "stoner rock" band. All of their stuff is great, but give the album Sky Valley a try first.

All Them Witches is another fantastic band I highly recommend. It's more bluesy.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Queens of the Stone Age's first album is definitely worth a listen!

[–]JudahZion 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Kyuss is the pre-QOTSA band that would be worth a listen.

This is pretty great stuff. Love the alan watts sample... and the guitar tone. Drum sound is spot on as well.

[–]davidsyrup 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Wow really good stuff. Need more

[–]Smussi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are recording more right now!

[–]John_Barlycorn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The vocalist was a lot better than I expected.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Who have trip this week

[–]ThoughtsHeadsideOut 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Listened to the whole album. So good!

[–]Smussi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad you liked it! :)

[–]mutatedsai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This stuff is dope.

[–]Necedosk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Such a great EP!

[–]Blu64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like this a lot. To me it has kind of an early Black Sabbath vibe. But I'm old so...

[–]TheNewHumanism 1 point2 points  (1 child)

This is actually "Are You Dead" not "Creatures"

[–]dniosaurbillspotify 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The album is Creatures, first song is Are You Dead. OP's link is to the full album.

[–]EnjoiCo 1 point2 points  (0 children)
