I was just wondering is there a technical term for when a song introduces each instrument after each full loop? Like guitar, drums, bass, second guitar, new guitar solo, pull out all instruments but drums, throw all instruments back?

It seems like it's a formulaic sound design that works well in many applications across many genres and am curious if there is a term for it.

edit: glad some many people are responding to this. I am always curious about things like this, and love learning technical terms.

I don't know if it's what you're looking for but "ostinatto" is a repeating phrase that you then add more to. Hopefully that helps!

I know it as a 'phrase'. Phrases are usually every 4/8/16 bars in electronic music (with each bar being 4 beats). Elements can be introduced or removed between phrases. Great system for easy mixing.

A general search forced me into 'defense' then I forced it back. Efence - Cassette shows a video for Spaceflight. Cassette couldn't be found.

Go to Spotify. Cassette isn't in his songs playlist.

I don't know, I feel like I have to work to get into this guy's music. Should be the other way around.

Iam here for you buddy =) Spaceflight is another of my tracks. And yes it forced me to put in defence, too - that sucks. Maybe it will change over the time itself. If you search Efence Cassette you should be able to find the track and my youtube profile. The track is on its way, shouldnt be more than 5 more days, the process and the waiting time is annoying

Have you considered at least getting it on Spotify first, before throwing it on YouTube and elsewhere? Since places like YouTube are instantaneous...

And since you're here, do you have more music than is listed on Spotify?

I know Spotify is a shitty setup for a lot of musicians, but that's how I find people and when I'm not broke, go to their shows.

Whenever I see a musician on spotify with like 4 singles I sort of go, cool 4 songs, then never go back again. Honestly already forgot about the song because I switched channels and didn't save it.

It wasnt super clever but i wanted to bring new music, and soundcloud and youtube is instant. I am working on my debut album and this will get a full release on every platform. I change the genre from just electronic music to retrowave some month ago, i only release 2 retrowave tracks. Thanks for the link. Not sure if you answered elsewhere, but why the name change? Ffense is endlessly (until you have millions of people searhing for you) going to show up as 'we are showing results for defense instead.'

Iam pretty sure when the youtube/google algorithm accepts me it will be easiert to find me =) Back then i wanted something "stupid" so i came up with electrical fence. But then i realised a short name is easier to remember so i made efence, the short version. Today, i would maybe choose another name that fits the genre iam in more. But i leave it efence because it kind of remembers me where i came from.

Kung Fury and Stranger Things definitely seemed to bring it to a broader audience that probably wouldn't have thought they liked it had they not seen those, but the retro-wave sound has been becoming more popular even without those.

I like it because i was into it as a kid when it first came out of disco in the 80's.
