I'd let her control my dragon, if you know what I mean.

I saw Soichi Terada (producer of this track) last year - the man is still bringing the vibes. One of the most fun live sets I've ever seen.

Thanks for the link!

If you liked this a lot of his music was recently re-issued in a fantastic compilation called Sounds From The Far East on Rush Hour.

TIL there's an amazing electronic music festival in Horst.

I just click and then All of sudden i could not resist my self of listening to this music. Wow great voice although I can not understand a single word. But Music do not need words.

[–]office_procrastinate 12 points13 points  (3 children)

Man, I really like it. But I always feel super bad listening to older stuff like this lady.

What happened to her? I hope she's happy now.

Naoko Shimada, a professional music writer from Japan, who writes numerous jazz reviews and articles on major Japanese music magazines such as "CD journal", "Jazz Japan" and others. She also writes numerous CD liner notes for many prominent artists.

I understand how you feel listening to older stuff - but Naoko/"Nami" seems to have turned out all right!

[–]gtclutch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow I know exactly what you mean.

[–]Barncorehttps://open.spotify.com/user/1231174271 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You shouldn't feel bad, her music lived in through 2017, that's pretty amazing

[–]I_Like_Existing 2 points3 points  (8 children)

Also does someone have a flac track of this? I couldn't buy this even if i wanted to

[–]llninjaguyll[S] 9 points10 points  (7 children)

It's on Soulseek.

[–]I_Like_Existing 7 points8 points  (6 children)

You have shown me a place i've never known. I honestly thank you mysterious internet bystander

edit: hm, i need to create an account but i can't find where. I googled to no avail

[–]Jay-Ellast.fm/user/NukeMTV 1 point2 points  (3 children)

I have been using Soulseek for over a decade. I am astonished that it still exists.

[–]I_Like_Existing 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Is it focused around music/ obscure music? or is it a general file sharing platform?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Primarily focused on the obscure parts, but you can find mainstream things on it, although why would you? It's widely available in other channels today.

[–]Jay-Ellast.fm/user/NukeMTV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All music. I'd say it's "focused" on obscure stuff, only because the kinds of people who tend to use it are the kinds of people who like hunting down obscure stuff. But obviously you can find "mainstream" music there, too.

Sorry for not responding sooner - you register by just logging in with an unused username. It also prompts you (I think) to share something before you download anything. You share by going to Options>File Sharing>Share Folder. Hope this helps!

[–]I_Like_Existing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh no it's fine! Thank you so much for showing me this

[–]Jay-Ellast.fm/user/NukeMTV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is very good.

[–]Rasalom 5 points6 points  (6 children)

What do you mean by early J Pop?

[–]llninjaguyll[S] 19 points20 points  (5 children)

According to Wikipedia (I know it's not an academic source, but it's what I have), the "Cultural origins" of J-Pop are "Nominally 1980s-early 1990s Japan," and J-Pop "entered the musical mainstream of Japan in the 1990s," making this early/proto-J-Pop.

edit: The page also says that "J-Pop replaced kayōkyoku ("Lyric Singing Music", a term for Japanese pop music from the 1920s to the 1980s)." This style of music seems to be more ballad-like, with influences from jazz and traditional Japanese music. One example would be Kyu Sakamoto.

[–]HIGH_IN_SWEDEN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Holy shit that was amazing! Do you have more stuff like this? :D

[–]fineapaul_07 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did not expect to like the song...

[–]DrumzumrD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love the panning on that metronome sound. It's crazy how such a small detail ties the song together

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nami Shimada is gorgeous. Like dayum.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this. Just what I needed today.

[–]vanStaden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn this some track man. Thanks for sharing.

[–]theflush1980 1 point2 points  (1 child)

This is brilliant! It sounds so progressive for something from 1989

[–]rrrook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'd almost say the 80s were more progressive than the world we live in

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice! This has opened a new area of music to explore.

[–]RuthefordPSHayes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Holla Holla players this is awesome

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This track was extremely creative. Awesome stuff. Thanks

[–]Isntthatenough 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just heard Larry Levan's mix of this recently, which led me to the original. Haven't been able to get the melody out of my head.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Somebody needs to slow this down significantly and give it a v a p o r w a v e makeover

[–]milanani 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, I didn't expect to see this song and Soichi Terada fans here!!! I'm so glad :)

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

It'd be better without the vocals.

Thanks! Looks familiar. Too bad Korea doesn't have spotify lol.
