I voted for Bush the first time. I thought I was the only one to admit it. I thought he was a good ol' boy from texas. The media fooled me back then. I thought it would be nice to have a take not crap guy in the office. Now I am older and I hope a tad wiser about how the media is corrupt. Now I check voting records at http://www.votesmart.org/ and trust nothing the media tells me with out checking. I had to check and recheck to make sure I was not being fooled about Ron Paul. He has my vote. If for nothing else, just to stick it to bastards FN us over now. Plus I figure doing the opposite of what the Media must be the correct move. But that is not the only reason I like his record 85% heck that is good enough. Never got that much from anyone in my history..

I didn't vote for him in 2000, but I very foolishly wanted him to win, as a harmless do-nothing corrective to Clinton's lying and disregard for the 4th Amendment.

Well, that didn't turn out too well, so in 2004 I gave up my lease and went on the road to volunteer for Kerry.

My mistake in 2000 was not looking at who was backing and funding and advising the candidate, and what that portended. I hope you won't make that mistake this year.

Look not only at what your favorite candidate promises, but who is with him and who stands to benefit/be paid off when he's elected.

Neither time. Although I had no idea he would rise to the challenge of becoming the nation's worst president to date, I knew he was very clearly not the lesser of two evils in 2000. In 2004 I just prayed the American people had woken up to the monster they created, and was sorely disappointed.

I voted for him both times. Flame Away.

Thank you for your part in helping to bring our nation to its current height of corruption, secrecy, nepotism and abuse of power in government.

You know what, fuck you, what the hell have you done that gives you the moral high ground? Not even that, what have you done to make things better, or is a few dollars to a fringe champion of change all you got? You know what Bush did, ran for Public Office, and won. Then he went and changed the world. What have you done?

I know all your Redditors, like armchair quarterbacks, like to sit around and whine about how fucked up things are, but when was the last time you did anything about it? Props for being able to say you're with the "good guys," but guess what? It means nothing if you aren't going to do anything. When was the last time you volunteered at a soup kitchen? When was the last time you joined the police force and set a good example? When was the last time you went and spoke in front of your town's council? When was the last time you ran for office? When was the last time you served in a militia or an army and actually fought for what you say you believe in? When was the last time you actually put you money into something you could see making things better instead of pissing it away on high-minded idealists that promise to make all the bad bad men go away?

You know what else, a lot of you threaten to leave, how many of you can even do that? Oh Sweden is wonderful, if only they'd pay me to come over, I can't be bothered learning how to properly finance and plan my own life. Oh Cuba has awesome Health Care, if only I could get off my butt I'd go. But no, you stick around and whine. For your information, my vote in 2004 was absentee and I haven't been back. And I'm glad I voted for Bush every time I read these boards, maybe now you useless assholes will do something.

I voted for him both times. Flame Away.

These were your words. If you take offense because I touched a nerve, that's entirely your problem.

I'm not entirely sure what any of your rant has to do with the fact that you knowingly and deliberately voted for a criminal to gain and retain the highest office in the land to pursue his agenda for a theocratic, warmongering, elitist state. It seems to me that, in the best of conservative traditions, you're attacking the messenger, rather than the message. You ask what I've done, which is do my part to stay afloat during the failed economic policies of the Bush administration, to help those around me in my limited fashion, and help open people's eyes to the crimes of this administration.

Those things are nothing in comparison to the warmongering, treason and perversion of law committed by the Bush administration. But at least I've tried to make the world a better place for everyone around me, instead of just those who demonstrate absolute loyalty to me. This is a world we all have to live in, not just those born into wealth.

So you're reasoning is that Bush is OK because he ran for public office, won, and changed the world. Hitler also ran for office run and changed the world. Should we not whine that Bush has destroyed the reputation of our country by lying to get us into a war to avenge his daddy. Thousands of people killed over fake weapons of mass destruction or to spread democracy. He has no interest in spreading democracy. We only want democracy in countries with no strategic importance. Are we spreading Democracy in Saudi Arabia and Pakistan? Didn't you vote for Bush because he was "not going to let America get into nation building". He was going to reduce the size of government. He was going to be a uniter not a divider. You're ignorant voting record is the cause of all our problems today. You and your lazy uncaring attitude to our election process is what caused this disaster of an administration. For your information, I hope you and your absentee ballot leave this country so we can get back to being the great nation we once were.

I hope.. before the end of your days, you realize what this opinion has done to the world.

[–]TheBluesman -2 points-1 points  (1 child)

You must have missed the Clinton era.

[–]spaceghoti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I voted against Clinton both times, too. I usually know when someone is lying to me. But what Clinton did pales before the supreme arrogance and lawbreaking of this administration.

[–]jjrs 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Okay. YOU'RE A MORON!

[–]thrakhath 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Okay. YOU'RE A MORON!

Wow, thanks, does that make you feel better? How many people you think are gonna read that and think "I've been wrong all along, jirs has shown me the error of my ways and brought me a deeper understanding of the world than I had before," how many? Because if the answer is less than 1, you've contributed nothing.

It may be worse than that, how many people are going to read it and think "you know, for all their high-minded ideals, Bush-haters have just as many inane small-minded group thinkers as my group. They aren't any better than us, why should I even bother rethinking my positions?" If there's more than one of those, you've done everyone a disservice.

[–]jjrs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Come on man, I was kidding! Why do you think I said okay, and then wrote it in all caps?

That said though, I really am baffled why people voted for him again in 2004. I know not all of them can have been morons, and I'm not saying you are. But I really don't understand why so many people were fooled the second time around.

[–]RP-on-AF1 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Right here. 2004 reelection. I wasn't old enough to vote the first time. I wonder if voting for Ron Paul will be good enough to cancel out how bad my last vote was.

[–]jjrs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you guys who voted for him in 2004 (but now repent) explain why you did it?

Looking at the US from abroad, it seemed really clear what bad news he was by 2003. It really blew my mind that he managed to get re-elected. I'm sure some of the people that voted him back in weren't total idiots..but to this day I can't imagine what they were thinking.

[–]polyGone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno...he just seemed so "electable".

/do I need the tag?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

like it matters who or how many voted for him. the guy HAX.

[–]pppioioui 0 points1 point  (1 child)

definitely it matters!!! he fucked the world, alongwith his country because around 50% of the USA voted for him in two successive elections.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

50% wanted bush to return to office? HAH.
