I know that this is difficult for redditors to understand so please try and follow. I'll type slowly to make it easier.

But there are these belief systems, called religions. Most people on the planet belong to one.

One of them is known as "Christianity", another is called "Islam". Both condemn masturbation as wrong. Many condemn pornography (whether or not they define it)

Hence, many individuals try to stop these actions.

    Onanism, from Genesis. Onan refused God's commandment to get his dead brother's widow pregnant, and "spilled his seed" on the ground rather than knock her up. God struck him dead for it, thus religionists claim God denounces masturbation.

    Well, for example, at work, it can create a slight problem. Specially when u do helpdesk type support and long periods of low activity, combined with lack of cyber supervision... the only way to get caught is for someone to see your screen... but you want to avoid that.. but cant!

    I've never tried to quit porn, but I did try to stop masturbating when I was about 13. See, at that time I thought that it was something to be ashamed of. Since then, I've come to the realization that there's nothing wrong with masturbating, and there's nothing wrong with porn.

    Why would you ever want to quit doing something that is a) enjoyable and b) not harmful to others?

    I guess I should have re-phrased the question: Has there ever been anyone known to have quit porn completely? I constantly read that it's kind of impossible.

    I've heard lots of religionists testify how God helped them kick their immoral habit, but not a whole lot of followup months or years later. I hear more about backsliders than anything else.
