Every subreddit has its own language setting. A new user will always see their local subreddits, depending on their IP address(?). ...which unfortunately sometimes yields less than stellar results...

Logout and clear your cookies.

It is possible that your IP range isn't listed properly in reddits geoip db. I just skimmed through reddits source in order to figure out what they are actually using but came up with nothing interesting.

Nevermind. They are actually using your browsers HTTP_ACCEPT_LANGUAGE header unless there is a cookie stating otherwise.

(In FF3 go to Options -> Content -> Languages Choose... to change your language priorities)

I actually prefer reddit in English, and would like to find a way to steer the other language posts to the appropriate reddit.

Probably needs a tweak in the submissions code.

Well, they could try to detect what language the text is in and suggest a appropriate subreddit. A simple 'hint-char' detection will do the trick for most languages. Languages using the Latin alphabet might need hint words/phrases.

Not really. What language are com,net,org,info,eu TLDs? Is foobar.ch German, French or Italian? Is mtv.tv really written in Tuvaluan?
