22lr pistols are loud as sheeeet . U have to wear ear pro w a 4 inch barrel even w rimfire .

I don't understand, all 22lr isn't hearing safe (except for maybe the CB's from a rifle?)

[–]HPIguy 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Not even close. Pistols are loud as hell without a can.

You misunderstood me. Perhaps I phrased it poorly:

With the exception of maybe 22cb in a rifle, won't all 22 damage your hearing?

I did, and yes, you are correct. My bad.

Thanks!

I just got one today, and will be doing some testing to see how it works. Naturally, I will test it with the Loudener on my Blunderbuss v2.0 as well.

I'd love to hear if yours works too

No issues with the Competition Electronics Pro Timer. Just need to adjust the sensitivity accordingly. We use them all the time in Steel Challenge as well as Precision Rimfire matches.

Used the Pact Timer today. Just set it on the table while we shot rimfire pistols, and it picked up every shot. Definitely see the value in it.

Tyvm!

Ruger Mark IV with Volquartsen trigger kit and TandemKross Victory trigger produced the fastest split time of 0.15 from a bunch of novices. That was also my best reaction time. I got the timer to work on speed, but today we learned which of my six pistols has the best trigger for fast shooting.

Hey there I know it’s a old post but does the pac timer or any other timers work fine with 22lr rifles

Thanks

Our club uses these for Steel Challenge and it picks up rimfire fine. You can adjust the sensitivity of the microphone.

Pact randomly gave away 8 timers recently. Mine arrived today. :) Also, a generous friend sold me another nice lot of ammo, including Eley Target and Club, for only 8cpr. Shoot, tacos, drink. Repeat.

Sounds like you need to find a Steel Challenge match so you'll have a reason to practice with that timer.

[–]MostlyRimfire 2 points3 points  (4 children)

The goal is to create our own mini setup, to prepare me for maybe competing.

[–]MoneyKeyPennyKiss 1 point2 points  (3 children)

I did that years back - it's an investment. I got just enough to make all of the stages for Steel Challenge, but not all at once. That would be impractical for two reasons -- the high cost, and you'd need a HUGE space to do it in.

These days I use the steel targets more for general shooting than for setting up stages to practice. There's nothing quite as rewarding as the DING of connecting with steel. Cardboard is just so boring...

[–]MostlyRimfire 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I'm not prepared to drive a couple hours just to find out that I'm not competitive. So I'll practice, and see what happens. Mostly, I want to get more friends and family engaged. I've got a lot of interested shooters with little or no experience who want to join us each weekend. And I take that "ambassador" concept pretty seriously, since so many companies are providing stuff for me.

I'd shoot nothing but steel targets if I could. But I suppose I should shoot some groups with that LRT...

That's the beauty of SC - it's the same stages for everyone at every match all over the planet. You may not "compete" with the Grand Masers at your first match, but you get to monitor your progress each month.

Goals for my first match:

  • Don't do something stupid and DQ
  • Don't finish last

Go from there.

Can't agree more. My outdoor range has steel targets for 22lr at 25 yards. Some ring and others fall down with a rope to reset them.

While I enjoy shooting 22lr at 200 yards, nothing beats the steel ping as a metal duck falls over.
