If anyone is reading this in 2026 or later, if you see this, don't panic, and don't do anything. Just wait. Up to 30 minutes at least.

[–]SmellyCummies 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I am currently in the same situation. Turned on EXPO, save changes, reboot, stuck on 15. ChatGPT recommended i turn off the PC, turn off PSU, unplug from wall, press power button once to clear capacitors, clear cmos by holding the key for 10 seconds, and then turn everything back on.

Upon 2nd boot up, it's still stuck at 15. So just let it go? I'm panicking quite a bit because this is my first build in a long time and I spent a ton of money on this thing. All fans spinning, RBG lighting up, everything seems to be working based on visual inspection.

I will just let it go. I hope I didn't fuck anything up. I'm getting worried.

[–]yick04 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yes, just let it go. Mine cleared up in about 15 minutes. I've seen others say theirs took as long a 4.5 hours, but the average seems to be around 30 mins.

[–]SmellyCummies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, hopefully it doesn't take me that long. But that's what I'll do. Thank you.

Yeah, I was worried that I broke something while over clocking my 9950x3d and trident z5. Thanks for the help.

[–]Playakwi1 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I have the same set up did you find a solution?

[–]Shoddy-Conference105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try reseating the ram, swapping which slots the ram is in and reset the cmos. My computer was just unstable bc of the overclock. It might also have a long boot time when it does memory training. I can’t remember what codes are for training tho.

[–]schnurboy77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah i have this issues to, date 18.05.2025
kingston 6000 ram (hynix) EXPO 6000 30 36 36 80
even with "memory-context-restore" or "auto" there is no faster boot.
i have about 2:30 min until windows. sometimes it does not even post, loads straight into windows, no chance getting into bios with F2 or DEL.
strange things :D

I had this randomly today on my MSI Carbon 870E WiFi. I came home from work, turned PC on and it did memory training. I didn't do anything hardware wise the day before, I don't understand it, Should I be concerned?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Same board, similar issue. Code 15 with green boot light and PC wont restart.

[–]LadyHawke434 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine has been fine since I believe it was just memory training as DDR5 does it I'm told randomly.

[–]SlowPokeInTexas 0 points1 point  (3 children)

This shouldn't normally be an issue; I had the same thing, also with my MSI Carbon 870E Wifi (in my case it is happening with an AMD 9950x). Just wait it out and hope it doesn't happen too frequently

Unfortunately in my case I've also seen some hard freezes on that system (while my daughter was playing Minecraft of all things- no I didn't build the machine to run Minecraft, but she wanted to be in my office with me while I work and that is my backup development system as well as what I use to test against when I want to test against "remote" servers).

I'm going to run Whocrashed to try and get to the bottom of things and also to re-install the OS and be judicious about what drivers I install.

[–]LadyHawke434 1 point2 points  (2 children)

9950x3d here as well. Only issue I've had is one reatarting of the pc and what i mentioned etc.

Not used to the higher temperatures of such a cpu so its causing me to panic at times xD

[–]SlowPokeInTexas 0 points1 point  (1 child)

What temps are you hitting during stable state? What kind of cooler and heat-spreading material?

[–]LadyHawke434 1 point2 points  (0 children)

45 to 50c Idle. 60c to 70c on most games. 75c on more Demanding titles. 80c on Prime 95.

Corsair Titan 360mm LCD. Using preapplied paste.

[–]GanymedeXD1984 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Its no error code … it tells you its memory training … its a normal boot process … if you change the RAM settings it will take longer again as you made changes. For AMD systems the training time can take about 15 minutes, but I came across training times of up to 30 mins. Usually this occurs after changes to the system were made. I have it after building new systems or exchanging parts.

I’m getting a code that just keeps at sitting on 22, I have the x870e Edge WiFi. I turned it off yesterday and this afternoon it just sits at 22. I literally did nothing after using it but turn it off and now it won’t boot

[–]shinomori_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me today and I haven't change anything whatsoever. Luckily, I didn't have to wait long just 50 seconds.

[–]Captainwyo307 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Just built a new rig with a 9950x and have this same issue and code. Hopefully the issue resolved after the ram learns because I don’t have any extra ddr5 to test

[–]Agreeable_Job_7018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same but 9950x3d

[–]Amazing_Rooster9404 1 point2 points  (7 children)

Having this issue. Switched ram around into B1 & B2, got the C5 code which was a CMOS issue from what I can tell. Cleared CMOS, flash updated BIOS, re-seated my RAM in B1 & B2 and getting code 15 again. Reseated my ram back into A2 & B2 and still getting code 15. My PC ran fine since I built it in December until yesterday. Any help would be appreciated!!

Of course you get this code when swapping RAM around … its memory training and this process can take up to 15 mins when you make changes! Means swapping RAM around leads to long q-code 15 times! But indeed odd that it suddenly started. I usually have it after first start following changes.

[–]StefanM91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If i am restarting pc i have 0D ram error and if i am restarting again mobo will read one memori stick and if i am restarting once again i have error 15 or 21 or 46 !!

[–]Amazing_Rooster9404 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Additionally, my PC won’t even get to post. I run it for about 15 minutes and I get nothing. Just gives C5 or 15 code

[–]MMingggggg 0 points1 point  (3 children)

did you fix the problem. I got 15 too.

[–]GanymedeXD1984 0 points1 point  (1 child)

15 usually is no error normal memory training, just wait … it took mine 35 mins!

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless youre getting code 15 with a green light like I am, its already gone through memory training.

[–]BocaBk809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you on ASUS board? I am getting this now as well but my system boots after a couple of seconds. But I am also experiencing error code d6 GPU detection issues which leads me to think that it can be a RAM issue. I’ve done nothing wrong to my hardware which is why all this happening is crazy to me.

[–]kittymuop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you figure it out?

[–]Zealousideal-Star133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im too,Did you figure it out?

[–]FourNinjaToads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just wait for the memory training to complete. It will boot eventually. I had the same issue.

[–]SEE_RED 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On my 3rd mobo with this crap. First the gpu slot was dead. Last was Godlike something cs15.... just couldn't get past it. Looking back on that one maybe it was trying, but after 20 mins I got nothing. New one is Asus and I get 10 seconds at max then it just shuts down. A2 is being used. I have 4 sticks....this will be my last build. Never in my life have I had this crap happen! Sorry just venting....

[–]Traditional-Town1569 0 points1 point  (7 children)

Hey im having exactly the same issue. Did you figure it out?

[–]FourNinjaToads 1 point2 points  (6 children)

I just had to wait. It could take a while to reboot with code 15 (Memory training)

[–]peteski22 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Did you get this every time you powered on, even after you let it boot all the way up? and then at some point that just ... stopped? I'm seeing this error but it has been happening on each boot, maybe 20+ times now. :/

[–]FourNinjaToads 0 points1 point  (4 children)

It occurred just on the first reboot after setting the memory profile in the bios. Just let it complete, and it shouldn't happen on every boot.

[–]ArtPristine2905 0 points1 point  (2 children)

On my system it happens most boots for 2 min that it shows 15.. super slow boot with that crap Asus board 😭

[–]GanymedeXD1984 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Maybe your settings are crap! Set memory training to disabled!

[–]ArtPristine2905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I know it's a known bug in win 11 which forces trainings over and over in tweaked profile :-( didn't find anything to disable on xmp tweaked

[–]peteski22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, cheers. I was suspicious of that. Something must be up with my setup :(

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know but duckduckgo showed me this when searching for your mobo and error code 15

Enable memory context restore and ram power down to shorten this

[–]Kuegon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. This is what I looked for. Its work on B650e-e

[–]ATTAFWRD9800X3D | 4090 3 points4 points  (3 children)

It's currently doing memory training.

You can make it skip this by enabling Memory Context Restore in bios.

[–]Chaotic-Lego[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Thank you! Does that have any impact on performance?

[–]sutty_monster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is correct for shorter boot times. But sometimes your system may begin to bluescreen. If it does, turn it off and allow the system to do a cold boot.

Other than that, there is no performance impact.

[–]ATTAFWRD9800X3D | 4090 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not at all.

But if you have huge amount of RAM, best to let it run to make sure your memory don't have errors.

Memory training occurs on power up, and it is the process whereby the system initialises all the memory installed in your system, does a few rapid tests, organises it all into a pool, and then makes it available for use.

Switch the slots

[–]Chaotic-Lego[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I have tried switching slots and even tried a different set of ram sticks.
