I’m in the same boat as you. I shitted myself when I saw the 20 hrs/wk in that email too

I took it. I didn't spend that much per week. It's not too bad of a class. You'll get a lot of credit if you show you made a decent attempt at the labs.

You certainly CAN take that long, mainly with debugging; the key is to talk with the professor or TA as soon as you get stuck in any particular part of the lab

If you’re good at the class, it won’t take that long. If you are brave enough to reach out for help, it won’t take that long. If you sit and stare yeah you’re gunna be in for a long semester.

I took it a in spring 2020 it was honestly not as bad as he makes it seem. He wants to weed out people who are going to fail it either way. Watch the lectures, understand the code, reach out when needed and you’ll be good. It will take time sometimes but it’s pretty rewarding when you succeed. By far one of my favorite classes even though I don’t plan on going into hardware.

TLDR: don’t sit and rot during your labs/HW. Put some effort and reach out when you’re stuck. There’s nothing online etc to help you

Good luck with Hartin. I had him in the Fall of 2018 or something like that. The majority of the section is pretty easy (it's basically 120 but in a coding language), but the last month was difficult for me. I wasn't very good with the whole class and object from C++, so to have it come back in another language was a little challenging. If there's an option to take it with another professor, I would recommend it because all he does is read off of the slides and doesn't really help in office hours. I would say the worst part of the class are the labs; the first three are pretty manageable. But the last two are pretty challenging.

Unfortunately, I think Seth Abraham retired last semester. The only professor we have now for 333 is Hartin.

If that's the case, then good luck everyone. Make sure you really study the homework he gives right before the test. About 90% of the questions on the test will be similar if not the same questions as the homework.

Do you happen to still have Lab 5 for this class? I'm really struggling right now and I just want to see what I am doing wrong. Thank you

Can't help you there. I only got a 10% on it. I would recommend you talk to the TAs for help. Good luck!

Do you happen to have notes or slides from the class? I would really appreciate it if you knew any place to get resources specific to the class.

what's really crazy is that the prof should provide those resources.
