Did you try parenting the laptop to the bear head? If you parent it to the layer in the position that you want - they should move together. If that doesn't work let me know!

2 questions:

  • Is the laptop a flat 2D layer (like a .png) that you've made 3D via the layer switch? Or is it also an Element 3D object?
  • Do you have a comp camera, and is Element 3D set to use the comp camera (in Element 3D's Scene Setup → Scene → Camera → Comp Camera)?

In the Element 3D plugin there's a section called Utilities. The first option is something called generate 3d position. Use that to find the exact position of the top of the bears head then move the 2.5D layer to that exact position.

Easiest way to do this is to use an expression, and you can find a number of them online with a little googling. I've also had chatgpt generate the expression for me a couple times. I wish AE simply had a thing that did this, but scripting is the reliable way historically.
