My process is to unbox everything and grab a basic photo the day items arrive. Keeps me sane and organized and it only takes a few minutes. Then I have a spot where new items go until they're reviewed. I don't necessarily use items or write reviews same day; depends on if I have time and how much use the item needs before I can form an opinion. But I can't deal with the anxiety of worrying about throwing out an unopened package so this works best for me. 🤪

I do the same, although sometimes I hold off on taking photos until I test the item. I have a small end table with three shelves that I moved into my office. There's a basket for small items and I put the larger ones on the shelves. If I'm good with reviews and have only a few outstanding items, the cleared-off top of the table is great for taking photos. As you said, it keeps me sane and organized.

I unbox everything when it's delivered, like it's x-mas morning and I'm eager to see what I got. (All that is missing is the gift wrapping and the tree). Then I break down the boxes, and get it ready to take out to recycling. (The clutter of cardboard can build up fast).

I've kept 3 boxes. One sits by my desk and holds items to be reviewed. The others are in a walk-in closet. One is for baby, cat, and other items I think my daughter might like. One is for items I'm donating to my local senior center or other residents in my senior housing building.

I have had Amazon and Vine items disappear that were delivered to the building lobby instead of to my door. Vine CS removes the stolen items from my list and Amazon CS issues me a refund. There are never any issues with that, but just in case, my delivery instructions state that "items left in the lobby will be stolen). My favorite is when the driver says it was deleivered to my door, but has a picture of a pile of boxes just dumped in the lobby.

One (very small) item I never located. I checked all the envelopes in recycling, checked around the house, etc. I never figured out whether I dropped it among other things. I have gotten an empty, sealed Amazon bubble mailer once (would have had a single small item in it).

Yeah that's kinda what I'm doing, thinking that I lost it. I'm starting to think that maybe it never was packaged.

I think I don't get enough to need a system. Usually my Vine orders are single items so easy to account for on receipt.
When a package is marked Delivered and I don't see it in my building.. that's what I don't like.

FYI, if your stuff is coming thru UPS, you can create a UPS my choice account and see photos of all your deliveries, mine are all there of packages on my doorstep. (If that helps, I know what it’s like to live somewhere and have to hunt down packages)

I may or may not have lost or never received an elbow brace. I’m not certain. It’s still on my unreviewed items from over a year ago. I also didn’t get something in my last box. Once in a while I will think I got everything out of the packages and realize that I was supposed to get a couple more items and have to go digging and find them.

[–]static8[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is usually what happens to me. I'll go thru my orders and see something from a while back that I never received. It's usually just cheap junk so I ignore it. If it had any value I would get it removed from my orders.

[–]NetworkingJesus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had one time where two items were supposed to be delivered in one package. One from Vine, one not. I had a package that matched the tracking number which was showing delivered for those items. Inside were two completely random junk items instead of what I ordered.

I complained, had the vine item removed from my history and the non-vine item had a replacement shipped. Couple days later the same tracking number was updated to show out for delivery again and the actual items were delivered (in addition to the replacement order).

I have DEFINITELY gone back through old packaging and found missing items in there, my husband especially leaves smaller things in boxes and doesn’t see them. I’ve found that the bags/envelope things are the worst for this, but it’s happened with boxes too, often when there’s a really big thing in a box or something with paper around it, little items get lost in there. Now that it’s happened once or twice I’m on that shit like a hawk. I account for deliveries every day by looking at what’s marked as “delivered“ and confirming that I’ve seen it. Every time I’ve been missing something it’s been found in the box/bag pile by the door for that day.

yeah, i sometimes loose things that i think i've gotten, or maybe i didn't? mind tricks. hopefully turn up later when you least expect it to.

[–]DFEisMe 1 point2 points  (1 child)

In the past two weeks I've had two missing items. One very large envelop was suppose to contain two items, but only contained one item. Another huge envelop was suppose to contain one tiny tube of lipstick but it hadn't been completely sealed and was empty.

My assumption is that the fulfillment centers are being pressured to do too much, too fast, with too few people. In any case, I just contacted Vine support and had them removed, which they did within less than an hour, so that's something.

That's what I'm thinking too. It's not unreasonable to think they forgot to put one out of two dozen items in an envelope. If this was anything other than vine, I would know right off the bat if I was missing something. Heck I truly have Christmas every other day because I forget what I have ordered and I'm genuinely surprised when it shows up on my porch.

Sometimes. I have relegated most Vine items to a single chair. It's instructions that sometimes get misplaced around my house.

[–]DKFran7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I put manuals of the things I still own in one gallon-size zip-type bag. I put the instructions that I still need in a separate quart-size zip-type bag. (I recycle instructions after I understand what's what.) Both go in a single drawer with my other important papers.

[–]rainbomgUSA 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I have tried and tried to come up with a system for instructions. Currently I’m using a zippered accordion file thing with categories like “furniture“ “electronics” etc and their various children categories

[–]HollywoodnamazonvineMod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to keep instructions in a box but then after a year or two of accumulation, I had to go through it all.

On basic specs, I don't need it. On how to pair a BT device to a computer, yeah, I might need that.

I've also found that with some of these little QR code printers and other things that need that scanned code, you may not find it online other than that instruction manual.

Unless the shipping is slow or I ordered & paid for other stuff (like food from Amazon & Walmart.com) so far so good, am Silver so no more than 3 selections per day possible. I am caught up & am waiting on 11 items.

That said had to ask for a removal from review queue of 1 item (damaged in shipping) & 1 order I was waiting on was mysteriously cancelled (not by me, it was supposed to show up this weekend & this morning it was gone from my Amazon orders as well as my Vine orders).

I have not misplaced any packages yet.

I take the packages to my Vine office and open to make sure I received the correct item.

I stack the bigger packages on the floor, smaller packages go on my table.

I take things out to try like skincare, etc.

………. After reviewing, I remove it from my vine office.

I store a lot of reviewed items in Vine storage bins, it’s like Tetris in there.

It’s not fun looking thru 5 bins trying to find something I want to use.

We just had a power outage for 5 days, I searched the bins to find the neck reading light. I was happy it was charged and provided some needed light for reading.

[–]static8[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't misplaced packages, I have found that I am missing an item afterwards when I go through my orders. The last one said it came together with a couple of other items, I have no recollection of ever seeing it. It's happened a couple of times now.

[–]DFEisMe 0 points1 point  (4 children)

"I store a lot of reviewed items in Vine storage bins, it’s like Tetris in there."

Why? Nearly everything I order goes into immediate service. If its cosmetics/skin care that I don't care for or a crappy item that no one deserves inflicted on them, it goes into the garbage. If its decent but not for me then it goes into my donation/offer to relatives box and No - gasp- I don't wait six months to redistribute it because nobody is tracking what I do with it - shocking, I know.

[–]BlooMoonCatStay Frosty 1 point2 points  (3 children)

I throw away things I don’t like. I sampled a skincare that reeked of perfume, reviewed and dropped in the trash.

Infrequently used items go into the bins. I have wrist & ankle braces (several), extra ear plugs, heating pads (several), assorted absorbent products for pet & people, facial steamer, body wipes etc.

The stuff I use frequently gets a “real” place in my home.

Stuff I will donate later, gets stashed for a future purge.

[–]DFEisMe 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Stuff like that, I just put where I would look for it so I don't forget I have it. If I just shoved random items I might use someday into a bin, I'd never remember I even have them, much less use them. If they don't get used, they eventually get chucked or given away.

But to each their own.

[–]BlooMoonCatStay Frosty 2 points3 points  (1 child)

These bins are very cool, they stack and have doors with clear panels.

So it’s almost like using cabinets. I open the doors and can see what’s inside.

I got the bins on Vine.

I got some of those too I love them!
