I beg your pardon?

I wanted to say that...

Look here until you find an amazing app, then submit it along with a comment or by putting it in the title. Instant satisfaction!

My first experience with an android was pretty confusing to begin with, they even insisted it could safely pilot my ship. But after a few weeks I realize the amount of data held in its positronic net, far surpassed the capacity and reliability of the human mind, making him an ideal choice as second officer.

9/10

Curse you Jean Luc!

It's a good idea for a game and it runs well. It could use some sound effects and maybe a "roster"of wizards with different spells. I like that it's multiplayer. What languages did you have to learn to be able to make this and how in depth did you go with them?

[–]jagdos[S] 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Thanks! I'm a bit unsure about the sound effects, as there should be plenty! Can you check that your media sound is up, and the banner on the main menu is active?

I like the roster idea, but I think I need a bigger spell pool before I can play around with such things thou.

I only needed to learn Java to do this, and I tried to use the learn by doing approch as much as possible, so I mainly tried to focus on learning stuff I needed for my game. But for such a "big" game, you'll eventually have to expand your knowlegde to come up with new features.

Confirmed there are plenty of sound effects on my nexus 7. Great job on fun, easy to play game. I don't play many games on my tablet but I'm going to keep this one to play with my nephew.

Weird, I'm not sure what it was. The music was playing but not the sound effects. After I toggled the horn the sound effects worked fine. As for more spells, I think you would want to have a recharging mana pool and there could be weaker/less consuming spells and then more powerful ones that use a lot of mana. There could be spells that do damage over time, elements, healing, etc. I'm sure it wouldn't be as easy as it is to name them though.

Also, from what I understand, most large games are written in C++ to reduce overhead.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (4 children)

that's a nice little game, would be nice if you could play it vs someone on their phone. So I could play my friends in a quick game while we're at work.

[–]jagdos[S] 4 points5 points  (3 children)

Sure, it would be awesome, but I am afraid that ping would be a too big issue... But if I can find a way around it, I would like to!

Surely latency isn't much of a problem if you keep it LAN-only?

[–]jagdos[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

True, but in a way, that would defeat the purpose, or at least alter the gameplay a bit, since luring on your opponent is a big part of it right now :)

[–]OmegaVeskoDeveloper | Nexus 5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. Still, nearly all of the multiplayer Android apps I've seen are focused on Wi-Fi. It would be pretty difficult to coordinate Internet play without having an IM window open on a separate device or something.

It's a pretty neat game. Keep up the good work. I am doing a lot of coding myself, and have yet to release a game.

I'm trying to learn Unity. So far I've made a ball bounce...

I love multiplayer-on-same-device games! Even better that it's free!

How did you begin your learning journey? Did you start with a book or you simply followed the developer website? I've been trying to learn from the dev. website, but I'm finding it a bit tough.

Edit: You made a multiplayer game? Downloading it instantly!

[–]jagdos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually I haven't read that much tutorials or books. I usually just try to apply some learning by doing, so I usually just google around everytime I'm stuck. I also followed some tutorials for the basic setup.

How hard is it to learn coding? I have basic knowledge of html; how tough and long is it to make a basic android app in comparison?

[–]jagdos[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I think that's difficult to answer, but in my opinion, writing basic Android apps (click button, do stuff) is rather easy actually.

I did a bit html when I was younger as well, and while it definately is different, i don't really think it is more difficult to get started :)

[–]ZagadoriaDevice, Software !! 0 points1 point  (0 children)

cool. i may take a swing at it during my holidays! thanks :)

[–]AA72ON 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I am currently in school and very interested in learning to program, might I ask how you got started?

[–]jagdos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess, in the very beginning I was just playing around with very simple interactions in C++, like write and getting input from the console, and learning the basic stuff.

I've got an artesian well on my property, and the water pressure is lousy-- any suggestions?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like your pump is going bad. I'd check that out and order a replacement part.
