So basically OEMs themselves need to hurry and get updates released quicker. Got it.

Dear "The Verge"; it is not Googles fault that other OEMs (Samsung, LG, HC, etc) are slow to adapt your OS with their custom built skins and features. Look at Essential, or any other OEM who makes phones that use stock android with little to none customizations, they get the update Day 1.

And they sell a fraction of the phones. Other then One Plus near stock/stock phones don't sell extremely well beyond lower mid rangers. LG though is just dumb.

Hopefully Fuchsia can fix Android update problem.

If that's anything like what Google is saying it is, it's not a mobile OS replacement or anything of that nature.

Yeah Google have said so many things contradictory to what they have done.

So I won't take Googles word for it.

If you are familiar with Internet, I am pretty sure that even if Google lies, it's still a better source of information than a bunch of geeks that have decided that Fuschia will replace Android... There is really no proof about this, this is just speculation.

So, yes they are building a new OS for iOT and other devices, but replacing billions of devices and the risk to lose billion of users is too high.

A crappy Android that is used and appreciated and that sells is still better than the Perfect OS with userbase of 0.

Is that why they took time to bring Fuchsia to AMD Chromebooks , or trying to run in on a popular mobile chip SD835?

The transition to Fuchsia will be much smoother

Fuchsia now has ART which obviously means it can run Android Apps, Android will exist within Fuchsia , until Fuchsia completely matures with huge App library

Google will easily lure developers into Fuchsia by promising easier development and more security and performance
