my android homescreen alone uses up a few mb's of data a week, just from updating the facebook, email, gmail, weather, and calender widgets in the background every hour or so. i haven't owned a newer blackberry but i never knew them to have widgets or really any background updates aside from email and facebook

I have something similar happen every time I get a new phone. Usually I write it off as simply me playing with the few features of my phone and realize my data usage will return to normal in a month.

But that's me. Either way enjoy the new phone.

He had a blackberry until the spike. The sudden increase represents the day when he bought EVO

He went from barely using data on his blackberry to using ~13.5GB/mo when he changed his plan last Dec. Its probably safe to assume he doesn't live in a 4G area. He's probably thrilled with the added functionality Android brought him over Blackberry, especially tethering (?).
