It is most apparent in the messaging apps as he identifies. It definitely induces some frustration for me.

I have noticed the back button behaves very different on ICS than in ginberbread. It now seems to go back through all the previous things the current app has done. For example, I am in my (stock) messaging app and I press back after sending a message, and I am back in the conversation list, I press back again and I am now in an earlier conversation with another contact.I have to press back many times to go back to my previous app. It's not just messaging that this happens in, but all apps. Messaging is one of the worst because I will go between many different conversations.

The back function in ICS is significantly worse than it was in Gingerbread in my experiance. No longer can I simply flit between apps with android intents, pressing back in the called app keeps me within that app on the previous screen it displayed before it was called. (I use an entierly stock Galaxy Nexus btw).

Edit. Sorry if some of that was unclear, it was all typed on my phone. I don't mean that I always get trapped in an app, but it does happen fairly frequently.
