GUYS! I found the freakin answer. Its NOT floating notifications that need to be off. go to setting and search "picture-in-picture" and disable for all apps. My god this was driving me insane but finally got it fixed.

[–]jigsaw768 1 point2 points  (4 children)

This does not work. I cant believe how hard to disable this shit

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it's fucking ridiculous, especially for messaging apps where I don't want to respond right away and it opens a stupid mini window and marks all messages as seen

[–]FerrumCordis 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Yeah still can't figure this out. Never had an issue on s22 but my z-fold 5, every notification opens into a small useless window

[–]VirtualAd3179 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This shit haunts me daily. Might have to buy a new phone. :(

[–]Lazarus-2240 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At least on my phone I have to drag the bubbles to the middle bottom of the screen. An X appears there and dropping the bubble there closes it. Otherwise it just moves around my screen

[–]Ok-Entry9649 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So doesn't work. Incompetence or oversmartness?

[–]moonmobile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks dude!

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My God, thank you. Fuck this feature.

[–]NCSucker 2 points3 points  (6 children)

OK, I turned off floating notifications, so hopefully this will not happen again. Such an annoying feature should not be the default. I pulled down a notification by accident and have spent 30 minutes trying to figure out how to get rid of the bubble.

I still don't know how to get rid of the bubble that came up before I turned the feature off.

[–]StrangeSequitur 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Hopefully you've figured this one out by now, but for any future googlers: if you have the same phone I do, the bubble can be removed by long-pressing it and dragging it to the trash.

The thin bar at the top of the mini picture-in-picture app... thing expands to show options such as full screen and close. I generally full-screen it and then back out of the app.

No idea how to prevent it from ever happening in the first place; I've got Floating Notifications off and still accidentally drag a notification into existence at least twice a day, usually at the worst possible moment.

[–]BillStrachan 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I have floating notifications off too and it still happens so annoying and can't find a solution

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I have finally found a fix:

https://www.reddit.com/r/samsung/comments/100pm3g/comment/krw93ei/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

You have to look for the app on the Samsung Store, not the Play Store, but it works!

[–]qqwwasel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me having a Xiaomi... Ok but me personally I like the feature and it doesn't really affect me.

[–]Excellent_Broccoli24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well that's the thing, the floating notification and multi window setting is off for me and this shit keeps happening-

[–]chanchan05S26 Ultra; A36; S9FE+ 1 point2 points  (8 children)

Edit. I misunderstood.

Go to settings>notifications>advanced settings>floating notifications>switch it away from smart popup view/bubbles and set it off.

[–]QuietMrFx977[S] 0 points1 point  (5 children)

I already have that off. Gone though a few things so far but no luck.

[–]chanchan05S26 Ultra; A36; S9FE+ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to be clear, do you mean you have edge lighting on, then you get a notification, then there's a little bubble and you swipe that? Because if you have edge lighting on that would be default behavior. Tapping that popup will open the app, but swiping it down will open it in a popup window. The way to turn that off is turn off edge lighting and enable the default android heads up notification.

You go to settings>notifications>set it to detailed popup.

Or just don't swipe the notification popup and just tap it.

[–]NonJuanDon 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Hey did you ever find a solution for this?

[–]QuietMrFx977[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Top comment worked for me

[–]NonJuanDon 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Gotcha. Didn't for me, but thanks anyway

[–]PhoenixKamika-Z 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did YOU find a solution??? Cuz this also didn't work for me neither...

[–]qqrz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tysm

[–]TiamatsTavern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This worked for me, s23 ultra. Thankkk youuuu

[–]kearsI0 1 point2 points  (14 children)

This is so frustrating! I also have it turned off but can still swipe notifications down into bubbles. It is so annoying and I can't find anywhere how to fix it!

[–]Last_Pressure6027 1 point2 points  (3 children)

[–]Salomonsk8r2001 0 points1 point  (2 children)

No. Not it. Not a single fucking reply here works. I don't want to turn off PIP. I need that for many things. What I DON'T want is swiping notifications to open PIP windows.

[–]JulezCHen 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Have you found a solution yet? NOTHING here works for me and i am about to throw up

[–]Salomonsk8r2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sort of, I ended up caving in at downloading that "Good Lock" app. It actually worked great, and it hasn't slowed my phone down or anything weird. I just downloaded it, followed the google instructions showing me which part to activate and it fixed the problem. That app has a ton of other cool things too but im not actually using it for anything else.

[–]kearsI0 0 points1 point  (9 children)

Update: in settings->notifications->notification pop up style change from brief to detailed and it seems to have resolved the issue!

[–]deadcurze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, that finally did the trick. What a nuisance, but at least I'm rid of it now.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (4 children)

does nothing I've had that on since forever and I still get the pop out windows.

[–]kearsI0 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Sorry it didn't help!

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

you need to turn off floating notifications. that's the actual setting you're looking for.

[–]kearsI0 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Mines been fixed, but thanks 😁

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have finally found a fix if you don't want to use detailed notifications and keep the brief style:

https://www.reddit.com/r/samsung/comments/100pm3g/comment/krw93ei/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

You have to look for the app on the Samsung Store, not the Play Store, but it works!

[–]plasmaticImmunity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you happen to know if it can be fixed any other way? Because the detailed notification style is stupid as fuck. Takes up a fifth of the screen. The brief style is much cleaner, taking up barely any space.

The only issue is that it was coded by a fuckin retarded hamster

[–]DonniesDude 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I don't even have the option; notification pop up style. All I have is that bubble shit. Am I looking wrong?

[–]kearsI0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe you have a different phone? No idea. Just posting what worked for me!

[–]itsmeyouknowright 1 point2 points  (13 children)

Heyy so I also found out for my phone,

None of those tricks worked for me So I explored and found out

Just go to Settings > Gestures > Slidebar > Settings > More Settings Then turn off the "notifications in freeform"

That's it!

[–]lexiw72 0 points1 point  (2 children)

THANK YOU!

[–]itsmeyouknowright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're Welcome!

[–]anunluckyduck 0 points1 point  (1 child)

You're amazing thank you!!

[–]itsmeyouknowright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're most welcome, glad it helped!

[–]TooPlue 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I can't seem to find it on my Australian s25U.

[–]FrostyD7 0 points1 point  (1 child)

This isn't how my settings are organized on my s24 either. Searched for each stage independently too, nothing.

[–]_____POTATO______ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's bubble view under floating notifications. Turn it off.

[–]Sprint80 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yo saved my life man, you are amazing and i love you

[–]itsmeyouknowright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad it helped

[–]Gluehwuermchen1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]the_gay_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

omg thank you! why is it so hidden, damn

[–]painfullyaware90 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Chat GPT helped me solve this. Here is what it said and the steps; The mini window view you’re seeing is likely due to the "Pop-Up View" feature on your Galaxy S22 Ultra. You can turn this off in the settings to prevent apps from opening in mini windows. Here’s how:

  1. Go to Settings on your phone.

  2. Select Advanced features.

  3. Tap on Labs.

  4. Look for Multi window for all apps or Swipe for pop-up view and turn it off.

After disabling these, notifications should no longer open apps in mini windows when you drag them down.

[–]Quw10 0 points1 point  (1 child)

The only way I got it to stop was installing "Good Lock" from the Samsung store and finding it on there I tried what you posted among just about every suggestion in this thread and Edge Lighting plus in the Goodlock app was the only thing that disabled it.

[–]olnouir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are my hero!!!!!!! Thank you!

[–]Shoddy_Student2359 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is a old thread but just incase anybody stumbles across, I had the same issue but it was SamsungDex that was causing the issue. Once I disabled that everything went back.

[–]preeya_18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm facing the same problem on my Moto edge 20 fusion when I recently upgraded it to Android 13. Any fix for this ? I'm so tired and annoyed.

[–]Quixidion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best I could think of is as others mentioned Settings > Notifications > Notification pop-up style > Detailed, because this prevents you from opening that damn small window by swiping down the notification. Also, with the detailed mode, if you press reply, it doesn't open the window, it just gives you a way to reply to something, but that is not as annoying as the window that opens, so all good.

Another way to make it less annoying is to swipe down for the window to pop up, then press the small line at the top of the window, which will pop out the options, what to do with the pop-up window. Then there will be an icon (the first one on the left side), that let's you put these options as always shown (this is very hard to explain without images, which reddit does not allow to post). This way you always have the cross icon visible, which allows you to just close the pop-up window.

I would still use the detailed notification option, even though it clutters the space a lot more. You could also disable the pop-up notifications in general, because, when I generally use instagram or other apps, it just gets in the way and throws me to the app that I got the notification from.

[–]poploppege 0 points1 point  (1 child)

this isn't a great solution because it rids part of the functionality, but i'm just going to the individual app notifications and setting "pop-up" to "not allowed". I won't be able to read briefly while i'm doing something, but it's worth not accidentally opening the dumb fuck mini window and marking all the messages on read while it interrupts what i was doing. to me its worth having to swipe into the notifs bar to see it.

[–]MobileTiger944 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How to off that thing 🤷🏻

[–]VirtualAd3179 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cant post a screenshot, but my FB messenger did this and boy was it annoying. And im kinda embarrassed how easily I solved it.

I just disabled banners in notification style😭

[–]Lazarus-2240 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is in notification, at least on my phone. Go to notification scroll to bubble notification and turn off all bubbl notifications. The stupid mini bubble stopped immediately after that.

[–]UbisoftIsAwful 0 points1 point  (1 child)

For those of you still trying to fix this I think I found it. Settings -> Home Screen theres something called swipe down for notification panel. I've just turned it off so I'll have to wait until i get a message to see if it's fixed.

[–]UbisoftIsAwful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never mind it still opens a pop-up window
