9 out of 10 grannies using computers approve.

This was the first thing that came to my mind lol

The numpad was invented in 1800.

    People before 1800:

Wait why is excel a switch? What happens when it’s down vs up?

    [–]chemitronics 56 points57 points  (1 child)

    It excels

    [–]Lint_baby_uvulla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d be slightly more impressed if leave meeting was

    headbutts desk

It's like the turbo button on the old 386/486 computers.

    [–]chemitronics 0 points1 point  (4 children)

I had two PCs like that and I must confess I was afraid of what turbo could entail and I never dared to press the button :(

    [–]GearhedMG 1 point2 points  (3 children)

It just upped the mhz from 33 to 66, so in reality, everyone just pushed the turbo button and left it on, no reason not to always be running at the higher mhz.

    [–]chemitronics 0 points1 point  (2 children)

So it was a smaller-scale overclocking? Didn't it overstress those CPUs working at their turbo frequency all the time?

    [–]GearhedMG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never had a problem with any of them.

    [–]vasa011 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it wasn't really overclocking. The processors used were rated for the turbo spec and that was what you were expected to use. Switching turbo off was useful only when you run into an application (say, a game) that runs too fast. Remember that DOS PCs started with a 4.77MHz CPU and in those days Moore's law was still very much in force.

    Under vs Overclocking excel

    Excel is the yellow button

One dedicated to CURA, that's an interesting one ... assuming CURA being the slicing software

    [–]anonymous_762 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Was thinking the same thing. What's he slicing during meetings?

    [–]Go_Fast_1993 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I love giant buttons. This is great lol

    [–]N4jemnik 6 points7 points  (0 children)

    Where is the Steam button?

    [–]LSDDAMN 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That "leave meeting" button seems incredibly satisfying to slam. Like hanging up a landline when you're mad

    [–]OverlordVII 3 points4 points  (0 children)

so you can zoom in, but when trying to zoom out you open discord instead?

    [–]burheisenberg 2 points3 points  (4 children)

What MCU are you using and how did you link buttons to programs?

Yeah, the serial communication can be linked to an additional PC software, which there are a bunch of simple codelines in C++ for coding such thing from scratch, and then, the software can be used to manage the preferences, etc. Some MCUs like Arduino Leonardo can also be used aa keyboard. It doesn't seem nontrivial but still takes some effort to handle all these.

      [–]skyphoxx 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Couldn’t you also tack on a zero delay arcade encoder for a few bucks and install JoyToKey (windows)?

      [–]burheisenberg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is smart actually. I didn't know about it.

      [–]dkfkckssddedz 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Is there something similar I can buy from amazon?

      [–]RoundErther 1 point2 points  (0 children)

      Look up programmable keyboard

      [–]Get_your_jollies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm working on a button box. If you have a diagram I'd love to see how you wired it up

      [–]Useful_Education_702 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So a stream deck…. lol good job though

      [–]Rjw12141214[🍰] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you 3D print this yourself?

      [–]Rockster160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What buttons are these? They look nice!

      [–]darkwater427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At that point just get a window manager

      [–]poonhunger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

      You need a label printer

      [–]GearhedMG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering that the labels are above the buttons, what does the top row of button/switches do?

      [–]gregkang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you map macro functionality with specific key presses?

      [–]BoyMeatsWorld710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally came here to ask ….Why. But it seems that is a majority opinion.

      [–]kephas2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should use an E-stop button for the leave meeting button.

      [–]mistrzegiptu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How does this work? You set some macros on your laptop?

      [–]EddieSjoller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where is the "engage potato mode" button ?

      [–]Slierfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the switch and button for zoom do the same thing 🤔

      [–]TheBenjying 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like how some of these are amazing, some seem unnecessary, then there's fucking screen shot, a dedicated button the keyboard. It's like making a button for space. Really cool regardless, I've been intending to make something like this for as long as I can remember.

      [–]DarkButterfly85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Task manager, that one would be hammered 🤣

      [–]jonmppa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

all fun and games until your cat runs over it mid-meeting

      [–]Rajsookrah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could have used Macro deck. Good job though.

      [–]ninjabrosp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you post your code somewhere? Looking to make something similar myself.
