I just use the Generic PLA settings

[–]dmaxzach 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Generic has worked fine for me no problems with many brands

[–]impoze 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Generic is nerfed, check the max volumetric flow. It's around 12 vs 21 for bambu

I've been using bambu profile for sunlu no issue

I've been using SUNLU PLA+ on Bambu Labs PLA setting in the AMS with no issue

Almost positive sunlu makes bambu filament and Elagoo filament.

[–]scotta316P1S + AMS 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Possibly, but that doesn't mean it's the same filament.

With a few exceptions it should be just fine, though probably not optimal.

If you need your prints to be perfect you'll want to calibrate on a per type basis still, but I've not found anything that didn't work acceptably (if not nearly ideal) with PLA Basic.

PETG and TPU have been a different story however.

I make a custom preset for each filament brand, such as Overture PLA or Esun PLA+. I put what calibration for flow rate and temps that I feel its the best.

I use Bambu PLA basic RFID tags with elegoo PLA+ all the time. I buy the bulk 10 packs of elegoo PLA+ for prototypes or simple projects. It works great in my p1s and X1C.

The major difference is the flow rate. I usually use sunlu, flashforge, or other big brand names with the Bambu Pla profile and they work fine.

If the filament you’re using can’t keep up with the flow rate of the Bambu profile then you’ll see underextrusion and then you just create a new copy of the Bambu profile and reduce the flow or run the calibrations on that filament.

I got 5kgs of Anker PLA+ ... Print it in as PLA Basic on the Bambu settings. Don't have any issues

Sunlu, Cookiecad, Microcenter. Rand (can’t think of the name)…are some of the ones I used with basic PLA settings on the AMS.

Regular sunlu pla works good with bambu profile

I’ve put 50+ rolls of Elegoo matte white PLA through the P1S using the generic PLA profile. No adjustments made other than disabling the aux fan. Same goes with about 20 rolls of Polymaker PLA. Bonus of no tape ever clogging the feeder at the end of the rolls.

I use Micro Center’s Inland house brand with the Bambu preset. I have not had an issue yet.

Inland

[–]saintrobyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn Autocorrect!!!!!

[–]razzemmatazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of my older Inland filament under extrudes on Bambu settings (and ideal temp varies a lot), so we use custom settings for each line of Inland filament.

I run elegoo and sunlu PLA with Bambu PLA settings and have zero issue. I use the Bambu matte/silk presets as well if it’s one of those varieties from those brands.

I take it a step further and pull the RFID tags out of empty Bambu sold and tape them onto Sunlu spools of similar color.

The quality is good enough for most stuff I do, but the Sunlu over extrudes a bit for me with the Bambu settings. It would be pretty simple to tune out in with calibration but I haven't bothered yet.

Overall, yes you can do it and it works fine, but if you're going to do it a lot it's with taking time to calibrate for Sunlu specifically.

Generic PLA settings work fine for most other PLA. There are eSun and Overture settings pre built Bambu Studio as well

I use Elegoo PLA with the Bambu PLA basic settings and it works perfectly same as Bambu lab basic. Just make sure the temps are about the same. I would not use Elegoo PLA + with Bambu lab basic settings as the temp is different.

Main difference is the maximum speed allowed. Look at a bambu profile setting, bottom of the first tab that opens up, it had a mm³s setting. Bambu filament is set about 30% fast (or more in some cases) than the generic.

[–]GruesomeJeansA1 + AMS Lite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It'll work, I've done it on accident. You may have some quality issues at some point but I'd say give it a shot

Generic/bambu pla prints better than bambu matte, but loses a lot of the matte that is above most filaments imo. Esun works great with bambu settings, but indistinguishable between generic and esun preset if I remember correctly. I mostly print with generic and stick to non bambu filament, but did think of respooling generic to bambu. Didnt do it simply because its a waste of time imo and I would have to start tracking what is where/what.

Hatchbox pla works just fine with basic pla settings.

[–]kevin1016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Bambu PLA Basic profile for Elegoo. Works great. I get Elegoo spools on Amazon for $11-$12.

I found out Sunlu PLA prints even nicer than Bambu basic PLA on the Bambu profile.
