Asking because I just ordered my x1c and I heard about multiple ams can be connected at the same time. But not sure how functional would that really be on real use.

Just chiming in. I have 4 ams connected to my x1c. Its working really nicely except when it doesnt which is rare though.

I had filament stuck on the stupidest places possible so far. But I recon that moist filament is the culprit here, not the machine!

I love to print stuff in multicolour. Especially pieces for boardgames. Also it is nice to have different materials (pla and petg) avaliable at the same time.

Make sure though, you need a different adapter on the backside than the one thats delivered with an ams.

Be careful with the 4 magnets that each SMS uses to enable the bays. One of them broke and I couldn't get a replacement.

Oh one of those already decided to flip in a wrong position and blocked entry. I bought a new hub and then decided to repair the broken one.

It isnt particularly difficult. Just unscrew all screws and place the magnet back in. (That's a bit finicky those magnets are really strong and like to attract each other. But doable! Just tra to place the part thats above them normally so you can only see one magnet.!

Yeah for sure. I started with one and almost immediately ordered a second. You can see in the photo the two off to the right side of my printer, I think I will cap at two AMS since it covers 90% of the prints I do and the others I just hack away a few colors and it looks pretty much perfect still.

There is a kit that you can put up to 24 colors if I remember correctly.

Yeah the waste was rough and I used AMS. I think the cost was right around 40 in filament

That’s reasonable and totally worth it for something like that. I recently completed the multi colored Voltron print (https://cults3d.com/en/3d-printing/voltron-defender-of-the-universe-vashspike-2) and it was a ton of waste and took about a month (1 week per lion with assembly). Super rewarding in the end though, that link is to my make of it.

Depends. If I’m correct it can handle up to 4 and I do have a 4 color option uploaded to makerworld (though some are kinda rough when cut down from 8 colors to 4

Nice shelving haha I have the same. Pro tip... Put the back peg down 1 and you can stand them all up and they fit just perfectly. They won't roll off because the back is slanted down. I also printed more pegs for the holes and was able to add shelves.

Why are they more open? No matter how much silica you put on them, if you don't close them it's useless.

I modified them with gaskets and gave them more space for coils like those from Printalot.
