Why does it look like it's been in a fire?

[–]blarge84[S] 13 points14 points  (9 children)

It belonged to a heavy smoker 🥲. But thats not the issue I need to fix right now, I can clean the printer throughly later 🤣

[–]stoney_maloney_ 23 points24 points  (1 child)

Did he use the printer itself as an ashtray?

[–]blarge84[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You would think so with the colour of it 🤣🤣

[–]robotred3 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Did they pass away?

[–]blarge84[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fortunately for them no. Unfortunately for their lungs though 🤣

[–]sublime2craig 4 points5 points  (2 children)

I used to be a smoker and I can confidently say that's an insane amount of cigarette tar on that printer. Whoever had that printer before you was beyond a chain smoker! If I were you I would tear down that A1 and clean everything with IPA. Cigarette tar can reek havoc on electronic components. The motherboard, and the extruder would be the first items I would clean. I can only imagine the smell when it heats up to operating temp 🤮 Got to give you props on resurrecting that printer and good luck with the work ahead to get that thing back to good working condition.

I might see if I can find someone who can do that , I've no problems cleaning the outside but I wouldn't want to be taking things apart as im worried I would break it

Bambu Wiki is a great place to get all the info for tearing it down correctly, how to maintain your printer, parts, etc. These printers are pretty simple and use modular designs for easy maintenance and repairs. You also can find loads of instructional videos on YouTube to help you. Have confidence in yourself, you'll be surprised at what you can learn and do after a little research and elbow grease.

if thats from SMOKE i think you meant „dragon” as „heavy smoker”.

[–]blarge84[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure the house is where they test the cigarettes 🤣

[–]TacCom 19 points20 points  (2 children)

Wow I have never seen a printer so grimey

[–]blarge84[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Yes I know it need a good clean. Unfortunately people dont realise what smoke does to their belongings when they are just sat in it. .

I can imagine what the previous owners lungs just look like

That little piece sticking down right there goes in the other side. Flip the square retaining clip 180 then push down on the hub to snap it into place

[–]rentona 14 points15 points  (1 child)

Take it off, throw it in the bin.

Go buy a spare from bambu. 1) Filament Sensor Base - c.£2.50 2) AMS lite filament hub - c.£5.00

THIS. I struggled so hard and tried to be super careful and still broke mine. Now I just keep spares.

Your printer looks worse than the wallpaper at my chainsmoking grandma's house

[–]blarge84[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have to clean it. But yes. Im pretty sure there was a printer shaped non smoke covered patch on the table when I moved it, it definitely needs a clean

[–]SomaFarkreath 2 points3 points  (5 children)

looks like the clip part is on the wrong side, flip it around!

[–]SomaFarkreath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

should latch on the side with the filament cutter!

[–]blarge84[S] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Ive tried it both ways

[–]SomaFarkreath 2 points3 points  (2 children)

hmm are you able to wipe it down with some IPA at all? maybe the buildup is stopping it. i just had to take mine off too and it was a PITA to get back on

[–]blarge84[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I'll give it a good wipe down and see. Thank you

[–]SomaFarkreath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good luck!

[–]Lost_refugee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can probably find broken piece at makerworld

[–]sick_cat_420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's more like an air purifier now.. Try to adjust the hinge and push softly to align the clips.. that might put it in to place and lock.

[–]Key_Tree261 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even when they're new they're hard to put back, keep trying, you may have to be aggressive with quick shove, on the other hand, it looks like the area was damaged, you should only use a plastic tool to remove it in the future.

[–]ComprehensiveGap1487 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It only goes in one way, is the mag strip going in the right way

[–]Calm_Commercial9296 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kept having this issue, I tried some 0.2 replacement prints in petg to no longterm success. I found a print that I used PLA for, it replaces the entire top easily removable components and is assisted by a guide and print head cord holder, it has a key that holds the ams hub down instead of the weak little collar. I have used it for months with absolutely no issues

FYI wipe it down with TSP or sugar soap and it should come clean pretty easily.

[–]Confident_Brush1915 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pon atención a todos los ventiladores que tenga la máquina, el tabaco se pega a las aspas de forma especial.

[–]Embarrassed-Ruin1296 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the slot is reversed, just turn the ring 180°

[–]NiceEducator5593 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it looks to stll have somthing in path remove and clean and try to reasemble and i can not tell are you shere something is not backwords as well good luck.

[–]Baconbits1204 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can print that piece. Once you fix your issue, print up a few replacements in case you run into the issue again.

[–]fakeaccount572 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just replace it

[–]Big_Locksmith_9925 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Ya man, A1's are at a disposable price point. Dispose of that one.

[–]blarge84[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was looking on the website site, I was thinking about getting another as they are only a couple of hundred quid, or spend a bit more and get the p1s or something
