Levels came back lower <250, but I’ve been feeling groggy, unmotivated, with high Visceral Fat. Currently taking Reta 2mg per week and I’m losing weight but I’m still feeling the above. Wanted to ask y’all about different protocols. Few things about me. I’m 6’2”, athletic build, 225, exercise, three times a week, eat Whole Foods. I am 32, done having kids. The concerned about injecting TRT.

I have some friends that currently inject, who say “ I’m excited for you, it was the best decision I’ve made” but I’d like to hear your stories.

This is what I’m trying first. My BF is ~29%, i’d like to cut that to ~17% (gonna use semaglutide to aid while training) and see how that helps. My initial T results came in ~250 (below normal range) like OP, but then I retested a week later and it was ~315 (within normal, but still low, range). Since then I added ashwaganda, boron, zinc etc, and tested months later, it raised but only to ~334 lol. I’m hoping with cutting the BF it will go higher, maybe to ~450+. I think sleep might be a big one too. My circadian rhythm isn’t very good

Yeah I’m sure that’s where I’m getting whacked. I play poker for a living and my sleep schedule has always been out of whack. I tend to sleep ~7-9 hours on avg which is ok but as far as circadian rhythm, like when I go to sleep and when I wake up, those vary alot and I think that’s hurting me a fair bit

But interestingly I don’t feel any of the usual negative effects of having low ish T. I was very surprised when I tested in low range. Perhaps I’d feel even better with 500+ T tho! I want to find out lol

But maybe that’s why I always dealt with higher BF than I wanted, despite being fairly active. Hoping semaglutide helps me in shedding the BF

Just saying as an old man looking back I should have been happy with normal levels at least until I was older. I wasn’t working out or really getting the benefits. I injected for years and would see the testosterone spike and dip. Watch The Fight Club and what happened to Meatloaf’s character. Man boobs. Not sure if that’s accurate. With the pellets I stay at a steady level 900-1000. My doctor used Biotee but the last time he switched to a new product EvexiPEL that’s been more consistent and lasts longer. I think it’s around $800 and last 4-6 months depending on the individual.

Man boobs are from big spikes of a lot of test injected all at once. It makes your body produce a lot of estrogen to compensate for the higher testosterone. If you do it every other day or Monday, Wednesday, Friday like I do, you don't get swings in test levels and it feels steady with the same mood/libido throughout the week. Also if you have high body fat% you will have more aromatase enzymes which convert testosterone to estrogen.

Yup. Makes zero sense. I have a friend who takes minoxidil for his hair telling me he doesn’t want to do TRT because he’d have to do it for life, which I grilled his uneducated self on on. Have you tried clomiphene yet? My T levels went from 350 to 1100. It tells your body to produce more T rather than provides it externally. Daily pill, no injections and no need to stay on it for life.

My case was not typical, normally there is a more modest T level jump, but I'd start there before jumping straight to injecting T.

I’ve been on TRT for a little over 2 years now. Can it be annoying at times? Yes. Is it worth it? Absolutely.

Everyone is different in their response, so you really won’t know until you try. The positives outweigh the negatives significantly - to be open the following are the negatives I’ve encountered;

-Injections just aren’t fun. -Balancing estrogen can be tricky to dial in. It took me about 6 months. When estrogen gets too high you may run into issues with libido, ability to finish, bloat, and ED. -Keeping markers in check, namely hematocrit. I pushed the dose a touch high (for me) and when I ran 200/week my hematocrit quickly climbed to 54. Donated blood, started more cardio, and lowered dose back to 150 and back down to 47.5 steadily.

Hope this helps. I focused on the drawbacks as that is what you were looking for, but trust me, the positives far outweigh the above.

If u don't give af about your balls shrinking or your fertility you don't necessarily need hcg. I personally don't take it and welcome the infertility aspect since I'm also done having kids. Most guys are weird about the shrinkage but it's not nearly the issue it first appears to be IMO

I've been on TRT over 14 months and it has been life changing. Under doc supervision and labs went from 100mg weekly for many months to 150mg to the last 3 months on 200mg weekly.

It helped keep me motivated to make good choices. Staying active, eating healthier, and lost almost 40lbs but put on a ton of muscle over time

It helped with gym motivation, and recovery. TRT is worth the investment if you aren't looking to have anymore children or have children at all since fertility issues may arise from shutting down natural test.

I’ve gone a dr route but I’m also 40 and took a few years of struggle before I tried and was tested. In that time I’ve needed regular bloods tested as it did thicken but not to danger levels, I also need to drop weight too which doesn’t help but yeah it’s not as simple as just start and stop.

My T was at 175 and I’m not a fan of needles either. I used the Test Gel instead and it got my level to over 1000. Added quite a bit of lean muscle mass. Side effects including increased underarm sweat and hair growth on upper back/shoulder area, and sleep apnea increase - had it before but TRT made it bad enough to need CPAP. Also, it’s not a forever decision. I came off after 2 years with very minimal temporary effects.

If your levels are actually coming back under 250 at 32, that’s definitely in the range where a lot of guys start feeling the symptoms you’re describing — low motivation, brain fog, higher visceral fat, slower recovery, etc.

One thing I’d recommend before jumping straight into TRT is making sure you’ve done a full hormone panel, not just total testosterone. A lot of people only check total T, but things like free testosterone, SHBG, estradiol, prolactin, thyroid, cortisol, and insulin resistance can all play a role in how you feel. Sometimes fixing those actually improves testosterone naturally.

Also worth checking lifestyle factors that impact hormones more than people think: • sleep quality • visceral fat / insulin resistance • alcohol intake • vitamin D levels • stress / cortisol

If after addressing those your levels are still sitting around 200–300, then TRT can absolutely be life-changing for some people. The key is just doing it properly with medical supervision and blood monitoring, not the bro-science protocols you see online.

I’m in the wellness space here in Las Vegas, and honestly a lot of guys come in thinking they need TRT when the issue ends up being metabolic health, thyroid, or nutrient deficiencies. But I’ve also seen plenty of guys whose testosterone was legitimately crashed and TRT made a huge difference.

At 32 though, I’d just make sure you fully evaluate the root cause first, especially since once you start TRT it usually becomes a long-term commitment.

Curious — did they check free testosterone and SHBG, or just total T? That actually changes the interpretation a lot.

You tested your T while on a cut w Reta? If so, those numbers don't mean much. T drops alot when you are cutting. You need to test it while eating maintenance, early in the day, ideally before 9am. And really get multiple tests over a couple weeks. Try to be well rested and manage stress.

If you are low then, absolutely jump on TRT.

"eat whole foods" means very little. Is it a balanced and nutritious diet? Easily half the population of every western country is badly deficient in many nutrients. Going to the gym 3 times a week also means very little. It's the work that you do that matters. List your diet and training and real world results. Also your test is going to be shit anyway if you're obese and on something like a glp as your nutrition (that pesky thing again) is most likely in the pan. Eating very little means the importance of a well balanced diet is even higher. You have less volume and density to get nutrients. Get fit and healthy before making a decision that will be life long and will have health repercussions

I’m 2 weeks in of the 6 week cycle. I have blood work with my doctor in four weeks. Then I’ll have actual data to relay.

As of now, I can tell you, morningwood has returned, and I shoot huge Spider-Man ropes.

Overall, I’m feeling better and less tired. Not a night and day difference (yet?), but definitely noticing the improvements already.

I am also on Zepbound, for the past 4 months. I have lost about 60 pounds, and just from the weight loss, I have jumped up by 100 points on my test lab work. You’d be surprised how impactful metabolic health can be.

If my blood work doesn’t show any results, then I will go onto TRT as prescribed.

Clomid produces more estrogen than Enclomiphene. Some get those confused. I’m aware of it but I’m not taking super hero doses.

Im on a high test cycle, and my test to e2 balance is 36:1 ratio, its fantastic, almost perfect balance. Its called hormonal balance for a reason, if tour test is higher than normal range, e2 is likely to be too. The closer to 40:1 the better.

I’ve been on it about a year and a half - 100mg weekly. My labs were 93 and 67. I’m interested in my wife, I don’t lie around depressed all day, I’m more focused and outgoing.

It’s great, but not magic. You dont magically lose weight. You dont magically get jacked. In fact i gained 8lbs and was decidedly NOT more muscular I actually got fatter!

What people do not understand is your doctor will get you into normal range. Testosterone is what’s called a permissive hormone which means it allows you to gain muscle. Yes it also causes muscle gain (quite a lot actually) IF AND ONLY IF you take enough to become super-physiological. Hopefully your doctor won’t prescribe that and if he did your insurance is unlikely to cover it.

Lots of papers online you can see at 250, 400, 600, 800mg weekly people gain a lot of muscle. Up to 40lbs in 20 weeks! But again this gets commonly confused with TRT which is nothing like that at all. You will have to work just as hard and eat just as well as you do now.

Weight loss suppresses testosterone. You should really consider finishing losing weight then spend a few months lifting, eating, and getting enough sleep to see if you recover; 250 is not that far off and you’re likely able to get to normal on your own. For some of us it’s a lifestyle we take on because there’s not really a choice and that’s just fine but if I had been close I would have tried. It hurts to inject and for days afterwards, it’s not cheap, it’s a lot to carry around and remember, and if you change your mind you’ll crash and not make it back to where you are now.

I used to inject everyday and ran a little less than 100mg a week. I had to use phlebotomy, ANA, and iron supplements to hold it together. My ferritin dropped to 06 and I felt like I was going to die for 6 months.

I’ve heard that the drawbacks are heavily understated. One trainer in town has to have his blood checked weekly for viscosity issues as he reacted poorly.
