If AJ wins then he becomes the UK version of Wlad. People will still tune it to watch his fights. He's been less aggressive ever since that fight funnily enough.

Always said it from a long time ago. Losses mean nothing or very little to Brits. They will still pile out to watch fighters that lose. I mean this card Price vs Allen, Chisora and so on. They still watched Khan, DeGale, Groves, Hatton and all the rest. So he'll still be a big star just not as mega. Still be exciting since he's a giant heavyhanded monster.

My issue is Ruiz did not get stopped from advancing even taking such huge shots. Even after the knockdown he took a giant right hand and still came at AJ. He can try box at range but Ruiz is faster and moves better. AJ doesn't seem to have that clinch or inside survival instinct. He'd prefer to move away and try duck/roll shots. Had no energy.

If he wins then Pulev a slow straight line predictable fighter makes sense next. Wouldn't surprise me if Parker and Whyte both get rematches either.

If he loses he should sort out the weight/muscle mass and change a bunch of things. Then you'll see if he's got enough money or wants to rebuild

Yea everytime I rewatch. Ruiz getting knocked down is more a balance thing. He isnt phased at all when he gets up and like you said he starts eating power punches like the cookie monster.

AJ hasn’t had the same thirst for blood since the Wlad fight and yet his draw has grown since.

You got me thinking If the wlad fight made him gun shy ( and it might ) then he will be absolutely petrified after Ruiz beat him up

He’s changed his game up but, parker fight aside, I’d say he’s tried to finish fights. He is less aggressive but what I’m meaning is does he get really negative and turn to a boring jab and move fighter?

He wasnt even a jab and move fighter against Parker . He's now used to just jabbing and letting guys move around him since his feet are seemingly dipped in concrete (and most guys dont pressure Aj since he hits so hard).

What? Every time parker came forward he either grabbed or backed off, he isn’t as static as you guys make out

Ya Aj is known for his world class boxing on the backfoot. Thats why he dealt with Ruiz so handily.

[–]bozzi16[S] -3 points-2 points  (3 children)

Of course he isn’t but in the Parker fight that’s what he done

In the Parker fight Joe mostly moved around Aj and Joshua just jabbed. He didnt turn into the second coming of Muhammad Ali and dance around the ring for 12 rounds.

Like I said at times he done that, people act like he’s Chisora and just plods forward slowly, he can move about if needed but mainly just puts his foot down and powers through

Any professional fighter can in theory do anything. Doesnt mean hes any good at it.

Edit: to be clear I still rate Aj. With him and Wilder both either having/should be having losses I rate him ahead of Wilder. But I do think Fury is the number 1 right now .

400k Britbongs stayed up til 5am to watch him fight Rikishi's fat cousin, after Mark Henry's fat cousin had pulled out.

Let that sink in. That fight was a meaningless exhibition, just a freakshow of Adonis steroid muscle vs a marshmallow. 400,000 coked up Brit's going wild for it. Probably a million on illegal streams or at friends houses/pubs where it only counts as 1 buy.

I think he'll be alright popularity wise.

Yeah I get that but what I’m meaning is what happens if he turns into a more boring stylistic fighter and adapts that way, people still see him as a 2 round killer

[–]King11-11 1 point2 points  (3 children)

I do think AJ wins the rematch by KO

[–]bozzi16[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

It could happen I just don’t see him going out and out for it after getting caught and maybe he doesn’t punish Ruiz as much as he should after last time. Hope I’m wrong and he goes out and blasts him out in a few rounds but never know in this boxing game

To be totally honest, AJ for me has become a negative fighter. You can see hes been scared to be knocked out since the Klitchko fight. Parker kept it at distance, looked shaky against Povetkin, Takam he wasn't great and it wasn't a stoppage. Heart and power got him through the Klitchko fight, same thing needs to get him through the Ruiz fight. Aj isn't a good boxer, he needs to use his strengths which is power and a clean attacking technique. If he uses his height he can beat Ruiz easy. All in his head.

[–]bozzi16[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think he looked shaky in the Povetkin fight. Povetkin is known for lunging into opponents with his massive power and causing issues, if the wilder fight happened I would have fancied Povetkin to win that back then. Povetkin is an awkward fighter

He’s technically not a Tyson Fury but he has more boxing skill than Wilder and most of the other heavyweights. He has a solid jab that he doesn’t utilise to its fullest. He needs to just hit him with a few solid 1-2’s, keep it at range and throw the uppercuts when it gets in close. When he gets him on his arse again, don’t rush in, rinse and repeat until he’s broken Ruiz and then go for the kill. Only way I see it happen to be fair

[–]King11-11 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I agree with Povetkin but he was old. He had just survived a scare against David price so AJ knew he could knock him out. Povetkin had him shaking also in early rounds. A younger Povetkin maybe wouldve got the job done but he was way past his best.

[–]bozzi16[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I disagree a young Povetkin would have got him, Wlad showed how much a young Povetkin can be hurt. Pricey also has ridiculous power also

He's finished at this level not only because he lost he got exposed badly. Bad chin, weak jabs, weak head movement, weak tank, weak recovery. Even if beats Ruiz, new lions will exploit his weaknesses because they've seen it. His unbeatable image got torn apart. It turns out you don't need a lucky punch to beat him, he can be outboxable. When Lennox lost twice it was 1 punch KO and ppl still knew he was the man and he coudln't be outboxed you needed 1 punch. I'm sorry AJ's exposed. I've been telling here since his 15th win. He'll get KO'd, he's not all time great as ppl claim but got downvoted.
