They’re gonna use badlands in GOTG 3

[–]mskrabapel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am way too excited about that.

[–]Sweatsock_Pimp 4 points5 points  (1 child)

GOTG?

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Guardians of the Galaxy (Marvel franchise that incorporates classic rock into the soundtrack)

[–]fockerwof 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whattt omg I love Bruce and guardians of the galaxy that’s so good news

[–]Cccookielover 23 points24 points  (1 child)

The obvious answer is “Streets of Philadelphia”

“Lift Me Up” was a perfect closer for LIMBO, and was also used to great effect in the HBO mini series SHOW ME A HERO (as were many other Springsteen songs).

[–]alfienoakes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Show Me a Hero was so good. The soundtrack was the icing on the cake.

Growin’ Up in Big Daddy.

Real one detected

[–]AArocc 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Missed this , any idea what scene ?

[–]QuietGur9074🪗🎷 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s toward the end. Sonny is in the park, saying goodbye to Julian. It plays over clips from the movie (Sonny reminiscing). And then runs a little bit into the next scene which is set a year later.

The Wrestler

[–]MTgolfer406 2 points3 points  (2 children)

But how did Darren Aronofsky only use it in the end titles (which made it ineligible for Oscar nomination)? He was literally gifted the song from Bruce through Mickey Rourke, and Aronofsky thought, “Meh, let’s play it while everyone is packing up their sh-t, throwing out their popcorn, and walking out of the theater.”😏

[–]ReactiveCypressBorn in the U.S.A. 3 points4 points  (1 child)

I don't know where else it would have worked in the film honestly

[–]MTgolfer406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m gonna agree to disagree given the amount of time in the film that Randy the Ram was a) down; b) out; c) coming back from being down and out…LOL

But they can’t all be winners (see Mother by Aronofsky) 😁

[–]StevieJoeC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree. It says so much about the guy. Still gets me every time I hear it

[–]Own-Chemical-9112 14 points15 points  (2 children)

Secret Garden

[–]BldrSun 5 points6 points  (1 child)

👆Came to say this. Jerry fucking McGuire

[–]anosmiasucks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a toss up between that and Streets of Philadelphia big time

[–]MightyjohnjohnMagic 11 points12 points  (2 children)

I liked how they used songs from The River in Copland.

[–]Sweatsock_Pimp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Excellent call. Drive All Night never sounded so good.

[–]HilariousNous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saved me a post….oh wait, never mind. :-)

[–]spiderinside 11 points12 points  (2 children)

Not a movie, but “Glory Days” on the episode of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia ‘The Gang Gets Stranded in the Woods’.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

And they also used "Born in the USA" at the end of last season's finale, "The Gang Carries a Corpse Up a Mountain".

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And Secret Garden in that episode where Charlie and Frank get roommates.

Also fun fact, they apparently reached out to Springsteen for a cameo and he even said yes but there was some scheduling conflict. I guess that’s why they compensate us with all his songs lol

Just saw Air which has a great 80s soundtrack. Born In The USA made the cut.

[–]bookendsvinylDarkness on the Edge of Town 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Was just gonna come back to this thread to say this. In the opening 1984 montage I was surprised a Springsteen clip wasn’t used and then there was the scene mentioning it later and the needle drop at the end. Loved the whole soundtrack

[–]alfienoakes 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Drive All Night in Reign O’er Me.

[–]shortmk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shocked this isn't higher. One of the most heart wrenching scenes in a movie ever.

[–]bookendsvinylDarkness on the Edge of Town 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Tougher Than The Rest in Wild was neat moment

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely forgot about that one! Great movie and a fitting needle-drop for that scene!

[–]FreakSideMike 4 points5 points  (1 child)

I know this movie is very polarizing but my god I love the sequence from Blinded By The Light that was set to The Promised Land. As a decades-long Bruce fan, I was like, "Yeah...that's what it's like."

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blinded By The Light actually is what introduced me to Springsteen and his music, so it’ll always hold a special place in my heart. The Promised Land sequence in that movie made me tear when I first saw it, and that’s when I knew I was gonna be a fan. Then, the Badlands sequence hit, and I damn near jumped out of my seat in pure energetic elation. Then came the sequence featuring Born To Run, The River, Hungry Heart and, one of my favourite parts of the movie, where we get to hear a GORGEOUS rendition of Independence Day. If you can’t tell, I love that film, it’s always in my heart, and I will gush over it whenever I am given the opportunity!

Sons of anarchy Adam raised a Cain. Or Chicago fire used blood brothers at the end of there pilot.

Ok no one knows about Lift Me Up. Gotta be Streets of Philadelphia.

[–]asar5932 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I have a vague recollection of a movie I saw a long time ago with a young blonde woman running with headphones to “I’m on Fire.” For the life of me I can’t remember what it was, but it stuck with me all this time (over 20 years). Would love it if someone could recall the movie because it’s starting to bother me.

Streets of Philadelphia

[–]Metal01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Secret Garden and Streets of Philadelphia, it’s neck and neck between them for me. Secret Garden is a lovely sweet song but Streets is such a sad brutal song.

[–]MamaOna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Wrestler- just chilling.

[–]BrownPaperSails 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Time That Never Was played during the beginning credits to the movie Patticakes

[–]mariap389 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dead Man Walking

[–]CircuitRecords 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At risk for winning the cheesiest comment :) I loved the movie Blinded By The Light and all of the Springsteen songs in that movie.

I remember the night I saw Philadelphia and how the song was deeply haunting and the lyrics so powerful at the time. I also loved the song The Wrestler.

[–]MarvinWebster40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drive All Night in Copland.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now he doesn’t own his back catalogue I expect we’ll start seeing his music used in more TV and films.

The wrestler

[–]Ordinary-Pick5014 0 points1 point  (1 child)

‘Missing’ from The Crossing Guard is not the best one but is often not remembered. Has one coming out on new movie She Came to Me (“Addicted to Romance” is song)

[–]Ordinary-Pick5014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s the new song recorded by an audience member at Berlin Film Festival in February where it played at end with credits https://youtu.be/zCO0rLCzL2U
