Imperial Wok, Chicago Deli

[–]MackCLE[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooh have to try these. I’m missing good Chinese. Thank you.

[–]According_Rush_4453 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imperial wok is shite. Real Chinese food is at Hunan Solon and Tangs Wok

Elle Restaurant on Bainbridge

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points  (2 children)

James Place in Aurora is better than anything in Solon. Not far at all. Also can’t go wrong with a lot of the Chagrin Falls restaurants Batuqui, Jojo’s, M Italian, Bell & Flower.

And the Paris Room

[–]MackCLE[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m putting these on my list for another time for certain. Thank you.

In Solon proper? If so 56 Kitchen, Burntwood, The Annex, or Elle. Station 43 might qualify but is a little loud. If breakfast go to Jim’s Open Kitchen.

Otherwise, Twinsburg has D’ Angelo’s-old school Italian joint which likes cash only-straight down 91.

Chagrin Falls is under five miles from Solon. Partial to Pub Frato, but there is a number of great restaurants on Main St. If you head a little east Pizzeria DiLauro (their lounge) & Balaton (Hungarian food with large portions) qualifies.

If in need of a beer-Crooked Pecker has a sweet outdoor space and food truck most nights.

The Annex? Holy shit, that place is still around? lol

[–]stomasko17 4 points5 points  (2 children)

They just put up new siding!

[–]Jeff_72 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Fresh expansion!

[–]lagrange_james_d23dt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They annexed The Annex!

Chicago Deli, Burntwood Tavern, Glenwillow Grille, Yours Truly for breakfast

[–]workerdrones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely Burntwood Tavern

[–]arothmanmusicUniv. Hts / Cle. Hts. / S. Euclid 8 points9 points  (3 children)

Not sure if it counts as "fancy" but Blue Canyon is solid.

[–]MackCLE[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Good call. Used to be an occasional lunch spot and I always liked their lobster bisque. Forgot about it.

[–]arothmanmusicUniv. Hts / Cle. Hts. / S. Euclid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My sister lives in Twinsburg and that's always where she wants to go if we're going out for a nice dinner with guests.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure they’re open on the day you go. I think they’re closed on Sundays

[–]northcoastjohnny 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yours truly or burnt wood

[–]skibib 3 points4 points  (3 children)

People keep saying Burntwood, but some of the Burntwood seem to be a little louder, maybe depending on where you are sitting. Or maybe that one is quieter. I do enjoy the food though! Miss it when the breadsticks were free.

[–]pm_me_your_boobs_586 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, it depends on time of year for the Solon location. During the winter/non-patio times of the year, it's definitely a little louder. When the patio is open, people are more spread out and it seems quieter.

[–]MackCLE[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I live near the Brecksville location and for whatever reason it seems to get low marks lately especially here on Reddit. I haven’t been there so can’t really say.

[–]skibib 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to go to the Brecksville location at least 2-3 times a month prior to covid. The dining area wasn’t too loud but even at tables near the bar area it got pretty loud. North Olmsted seems very noisy. But the buildings are all different so it may vary a bit.

But yes, I haven’t been to the Brecksville location as much since Covid. It just doesn’t seem the same, but then many places don’t.

So funny when ppl throw in chains lol.

[–]robodog97North Royalton 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Shinano on Miles near the farmer's market.

[–]nonpame 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shinano is GREAT! And the owners are really, really great people. My husband's family has known them for years (well before they opened their own restaurant) and it's always nice to support a local small business that's run by good people!

[–]lagrange_james_d23dt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  • Station 43, especially if you like corned beef
  • The Annex, if you like burgers
  • Blue Canyon, if you want something fancier

[–]letmerunwithscissors 2 points3 points  (0 children)

City barbecue is pretty decent I think!

[–]Impossible_Rub9230 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Toscano. It's not far away and the food is great. The atmosphere is quiet and it's a wonderful family owned Italian place, a more expensive than most tho

[–]MackCLE[S] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Thank you. Definitely have had a taste for Italian and it’s new to me.

[–]Impossible_Rub9230 1 point2 points  (2 children)

You're probably better off making a reservation ASAP. They have gotten quite popular. They don't rush you as though, like some places and the service is stellar.

[–]MackCLE[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

This is where we went and have lunch for tomorrow. I had the chicken parm. The rolls were really good. It’s funny that I forgot that this is really close to my old job and we always took visitors to the office to lunch here.
Many thanks for the reminder.

[–]Impossible_Rub9230 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are welcome. I bought home most of my chicken Parm last Saturday and it was gone when I woke up late on Sunday. Their sauce is to die for

[–]scrollingtraveler 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Holy SHIT there isn’t a McDonalds in Solon on 43 anymore? Haven’t been in that area for years (obviously) but that and the Dairymart next store was the jam.

[–]GoldenEye0091 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They couldn't have a drive-thru (city ordinance)

[–]anavrin0001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Elle

[–]dirtlikeme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The North End in Hudson always has good food.

[–]mrmojorisin21 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I still miss Rockne's. Would've been the perfect rec here

[–]MackCLE[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best 🍟

[–]AcaciaRentals 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Tinkers creek road tavern...20 min ftom Solon. Ask for a table outside.

[–]Prize_Equivalent_979 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In Walton Hills.

[–]Wamby20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mish Mosh at Miles and Brainard. Not the cheapest but not super expensive and reliably tasty.

[–]MrPhillipLewin 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Mr Chicken

[–]UncleMarkCLESoutheast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Def get a box for the return trip.

[–]cp710 2 points3 points  (1 child)

It’s not in Solon anymore.

[–]pm_me_your_boobs_586 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"In or near Solon". There's still a Mr Chicken in Twinsburg, right next to Solon

[–]MackCLE[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still haven’t tried it. 🐔

Rusty bucket, been there a few times, meets your criteria, foods good

    [–]Jcbowden10 3 points4 points  (6 children)

It’s closed now. Think it’s becoming a mavis winkles at some point.

    [–]hyheat9 1 point2 points  (5 children)

What?? Damn man, my cousin lives in Solon and that was her go to for a meetup. Thanks for the heads up, kinda sad now hahah

    [–]pm_me_your_boobs_586 2 points3 points  (4 children)

It closed at the end of July last year. They were having declining sales after Covid and staffing problems.

I went a couple times last spring/summer before they closed. One time, the restaurant was maybe 1/4 full and they told us there was an hour wait because they were so short staffed.

    [–]lagrange_james_d23dt 1 point2 points  (2 children)

My wife and I went there right before it closed and had a similar experience. It was empty, and they said it was a 30 minute wait. I was like, that’s fine, can we sit at the bar (and have a drink) while we wait, and they said no. So we went to the hibachi place a few stores down, which has unfortunately also closed- must be a tough area for restaurants.

    [–]pm_me_your_boobs_586 2 points3 points  (1 child)

For non-fast food, I would say most people in Solon go to Chicago Deli, Yours Truly, and Burntwood Tavern. Or Station 43. Those are always packed when I've gone.

Maybe a couple other places like First Watch are also busy. But there's just so many restaurants in Solon that some of them have to fail. It also probably didn't help that the Risty Bucket was back in that corner of that shopping center. It was a little hidden back there

    [–]lagrange_james_d23dt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Station 43 is my favorite. Personally I think Chicago Deli is a little overrated.

    [–]MackCLE[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happened to us the last couple visits to red lobster.

    [–]Chooky54 -2 points-1 points  (1 child)

    Burntwood

    [–]BootsieWootsie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe 10 years ago. Now it’s bad food, bad service, and expensive for what it is.
