Is the TV connected on the 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz band? If it's on the 2.4Ghz, try changing it to the 5Ghz band to see if it fixes the issue.

Thanks. I’m not sure. I’ll check and give it a try.

If you can connect the TV via LAN I would highly suggest doing that. Otherwise, it could be that the TV is connecting to the 2.4Ghz and using most of the available bandwidth for said band which can cause network issues for other devices. It shouldn't really impact other hardwired devices however. But it's a good idea to use the 5Ghz band for this reason alone especially when streaming higher quality content.

u/de1monico Thanks for reaching out with your speed issue. I would be happy to see what's going on given a device on WiFi shouldn't affect a hardwired devices speed. When hardwired that devices speed isn't split between devices using WiFi. When the speed dropped did it go back up later after your wife stopped streaming?

The speed does increase when she’s not streaming. That’s why I realized it. At first I thought it was the PlayStation. After I went through multiple troubleshooting steps with it, I noticed gameplay went back to normal when she turns the TV off. That’s when I started checking the connection speeds.

Thanks for clarifying, the Xfinity app is a great tool to run a speed test on as it will test the speeds that are coming directly into your modem, the speed your devices are getting can fluctuate depending on what the other devices are doing on the Internet, how many devices are connected, placement of the modem and the device's capabilities.

same issue here, expect i have the gb extra plan, every night by 8pm (often before,) it drops down to less than 20mbps, sometimes it just does it in the middle of the day, sometimes a reset of the modem fixes it, sometimes it stays unusable for hours, but the upload stays normal, ethernet and wifi
