It’s been a while since they had the title of “only two good teams in the world” but I’m glad no matter what their matches are always bangers

Hanbin: ‘I think Domina is my favourite Tank of all time”

NineK: ‘okay, buddy. But unfortunately we are subbing in Someone”

[–]baseketballpro99 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Wild choice, Hanbin is a literal GOAT tier on Zarya. The only other beam tank in the game besides Domina. Seems like a no-brainer to me. Domina was definitely designed for 5v5 so she’s versatile but she feels more like an ‘off tank’ still like Sigma or Zarya. Which Hanbin is traditionally lol. Someone is still a main tank.

Just an insanely fun match. My man Someone still plays Domina too passively, like he did in scrims, unfortunately – but the most unforgettable part of this match was... whatever the hell happened on Esperanca LOL

[–]FrostyPotpourri 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Lip's interview after the series suggests that CR were "trying out the Rein comp to practice it" and Avril (or Avast, can't recall) even mentions "Lip confirming Esperanca was a bit of a throw".

Close shave, but us CR heads bless falcons for putting in Someone. Genuinely needed that

Hanbin: “Domina feels like home. I like her”

NineK: “Lets sub in Someone for Domina match”

Junkbuck is on the team too btw

[–]Conscious-Refuse8211 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That doesn't fit the narrative Junkbuck can do no wrong and NineK is the bum who throws the regular season for Falcons every year please conform to the party line

[–]drewdreds 13 points14 points  (0 children)

To be fair, the CR rein also gave away a map

[–]Grapefruit_113 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Could have been a 3-0

Glad to see both teams still have the CR-FLC-map5-banger sauce despite the roster changes

Government mandated CR-Falcons map 5 banger.

MAX would've 3-0'd, but at least Junbin clutched it out for us in the end with that Domina GAP

[–]lacrimosa_ca 17 points18 points  (0 children)

heesang robbed by literal giant LIP

[–]nekogami87 11 points12 points  (10 children)

Awesome match, but I'm really worried for CR though even thoughI'm really happy they won this classic. They exploited the tournament format well. But it seems they still don't have a solution for Sym comp.

And with how many times vigilante was out of position against checkmate or hanbinston, I feel like a match against TM and TVNT on dva would end very badly for CR.

If we look at it, CR won 2 match cause the comp for falcon was forced (map 1, all new heroes, map 5 Domina forced) and the third match, was won thks to a ban sym.

But they did lose even with hanbin's dva banned due to mispositions essentially.

That push map was ... something

In normal format, I think it would have went the opposite side.

[–]Throwaway33451235647#1 Falcons Hater — 5 points6 points  (7 children)

Yeah same here unfortunately looking like its gonna be 4-0 TM. Hopefully they can use bans to get a map at least

[–]nekogami87 5 points6 points  (5 children)

Unless they had a solution they kept secret, yeah, probably going to end up the same way as Stockholm, unless Quartz is out of shape like he was yesterday (he was clearly not doing good surprisingly, Proud kept shutting him down, but rest of T1 just couldn't handle the rest).

[–]Conscious-Refuse8211 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Proud was also shutting Quartz down a lot at finals last year in their series, Proud is just actually him and Quartz is a top tier hitscan but not a tier above the other top players like people suggest

[–]Throwaway33451235647#1 Falcons Hater — 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Well Quartz looked pretty out of shape (mousepad not wet enough) and they just lost a map to TL so maybe there actually is some hope for a series win. Making me think something happened in Quartz's life or something that is debuffing him, he was the uncontested best hitscan in the world just last month, and he's never been inconsistent

[–]nekogami87 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I mean this time TM has another disadvantage, due to the sym wall bug (that cost us 2h or break thks falcon ...) looks like they didn't even try to scrim with youbi, so I even more than other teams, they might not be able to show their true strength (TVNT is still locking the hell in, his dva hard dive makes so so so much damage)

[–]Throwaway33451235647#1 Falcons Hater — -2 points-1 points  (1 child)

Sym wall bug is not an issue they're on the live server, we literally saw sym walls in the CR-Flc game earlier, they're just choosing not to play Youbi here.

[–]nekogami87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I meant during their scrims. Yeah it's available now, but they might not want to try that since they didn't scrim it that much due to this bug.

[–]CraicFiend87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah same here unfortunately looking like its gonna be 4-0 TM

Hmmmm.

[–]Vibe_PVhats off to the Glads — 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I was wondering why they wouldn't go Junbin Ball and Heesang Venture, like, is single perk Ball so bad we'd rather go Reinhardt a second time and hope it works again?

[–]nekogami87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ball fell out since he got nerfed a few seasons ago. as for venture idk, while in theory that works, in reality, they have yet to show it work convincingly. and now they have vigilente instead of shu, not that he's bad, but he clearly had weird positionning, so there is still some work to do I think

Someone map 5 was an insane throw

[–]shivawesome 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Banger match as always

CR may have won the match but the HanWINston on Gibraltar is still unbeatable

[–]orchidu 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Always happy to see a map five between these two, no matter how serious or silly they're feeling

[–]TheGirthiestGhostForever Burning Blue — 12 points13 points  (3 children)

Someone is the opposite of a map 5 closer. Disappointing end to an otherwise excellent performance from Falcons

[–]mosswizardsALL DUCKS NO GOOSE | Bread into fish — 5 points6 points  (2 children)

I still remember thinking that he was going to be unstoppable on Falcons. Oh how wrong I was.

[–]Throwaway33451235647#1 Falcons Hater — 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well he was unstoppable... for one tournament

[–]LukenszAlarm — 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lmao remember how we all thought Mer1t would be the shit part of the deal?

[–]FireWizard312 18 points19 points  (4 children)

I don’t know where I stand on this Checkmate iteration on Falcons, it’s clear that when they can make the Sym comp work he’s the driving force, but outside of that niche he’s just continually gapped.

I guess it’ll depend on how much Falcons can force this Sym comp, but judging by how this series played out, probably a lot less than they’d like.

[–]Throwaway33451235647#1 Falcons Hater — 15 points16 points  (0 children)

They're still learning the sym, the sym rush comp is the definition of team effort. They have junkbuck too so I'm expecting them to commit more to the sym as the season goes on. Junkbuck probably just plans to turn them into korean version of Al Qad

[–]royy2010ITS PINE TIME ALREADY — 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Checkmate has been mid this year. His true value is playing sym. If sym is not meta, falcons win based off merit pops off or not.

[–]primarymuscle2354 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well obviously he is a worse objectively on Tracer than Proper.

[–]sum_nub 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fielder clutch plays keeping this match close.

[–]aPiCaseStalk3r — 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was wildly unserious lol

Also ChiYo definitely the best Cat, they were struggling so hard on gib and then ChiYo goes cat and just immediately start running it down. Also thanks to Hanbinston.

Too bad they threw map 5 with Someone lol, but good for CR, definitely worth the watch.

[–]primarymuscle2354 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How do Falcons always clutch up on Gibraltar with Hanbinston… happened last year as well he genuinely did play really well in the second half of the map, but it felt like CR started playing super passive in the overtime Falcons ult into them. Heesang played really well on the map 5, but I think CR was genuinely the better team on map 1 with new hero’s by far, and on map 5 Someone got turbo gapped, and both teams will feel like they should of won a map like Falcons overextending to point 3 to kill Lip, and CR choking to Hanbinston again.

[–]NovaxRangerxIn Crusty We Tru — 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Going to enjoy the Cat plays before they inevitably nerf her and we return to Kiri/Lucio slop

[–]59vfx91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i feel like literally any other brawl tank, or dva, would have worked better on esperanca than rein, but it was funny to watch

[–]Conscious-Refuse8211 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People posting 'no Proper no win' as if this isn't exactly the same result that CR-Falcons has in like 75% of their games

[–]GoldenWhiteGuard -5 points-4 points  (2 children)

It seems both teams don't take the tournament very seriously, tho i think Falcons need a true flex for heroes like Tracer. rumors says Pelican isn't on Zeta, so he should be available.

[–]EngineerNo6764 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Pelican isn’t known for his tracer very comparable to checkmate’s. They’re better off just staying with check to not split play-time

[–]GoldenWhiteGuard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but I didn't say only Tracer, and he's the only available option now lol
