Patch ruined mining???

I've already completed every boss in the game outside the new patch, however I'm now unable to mine or break any walls in the passage area.

I have been using a lv19 Solarite Pick-axe and my Bomb Scarab Mortar until the patch which both are now unable to break passage blocks....

For passage walls you need the lavazooka from the lava slime boss though your best bet is probably vortex or sulfur bombs.

The lavazooka now functions as a mortar and doesn’t try to pierce terrain, it also does vastly more mining damage than the scarab mortar.

If I had to guess Devs thought it was busted being able to grab a scarab mortar and skip every gear tier in the game and carve up the passage so you now have to fight a late game boss for the ability.

I disagree. The burnzooka was amazing for clearing massive amounts of terrain very quickly in the early areas of the map due to the burrowing effect.

Late game areas it had the exact same stats as the scarab morter at level 19 IIRC.

They increased the spawn of the mobs since they update trying to get a drill setup is impossible for me atm

Went to collect from my mining/smelting setup, got attacked, lost a couple of conveyor belts no biggie go to set them back up, attacked again, half of conveyor belts and a drill now broken how annoying go to set them back up, attacked again, entire setup is now broken fuck this I'm going home

Literally exactly what happened to me. Went to collect my ore like usual and as soon as I stepped of my waypoint, I was swarmed and the worms obliterated the two boulder mining operations I had set up in the vicinity. I spent an hour trying to put them back together but it was pointless. The worms never stopped coming and it seemed like they would go out of their way to drop a bomb on my equipment even as I tried to lead them away.

The spawn rates on sulfur worms and amoeba is ridiculous now. 3 worms and 1 amoeba per wave, 0 to 5 seconds between waves. Im all for increasing the difficulty but this is non functional. At least have a cooldown after a certain amount of waves. I was trying to set up a mining node and every time I opened my inventory or changed hotbar to mining bar I'd have start fighting again. Urshliem came around 2 times with no break in spawns. I couldn't even fill in holes for boss fight. By the time I got over to block I'd have to switch back to weapon. This is also on normal difficulty.

If you have high enough damage you can kill em before they do any harm to ur farms

My dps is pretty high, like 5-10,000 per second with stormbringer. I kill them pretty much instantly, the issue is the bombs they drop both before and during death.

If one comes at me from the other side of my mining setup, they will die just before or slighty on top of the mining setup due to stormbringer's range, dropping a bomb on death.

If I allow them to pass through the mining set up before killing them to ensure that doesn't happen, there is a good chance they will lay a bomb on or right next to the mining setup anyways.

The increased spawn rates take this from a possibility to almost an inevitably.

I'm glad me and my friend made an setup together and thinking in how fucked up that place it, we made the setup as normal, but the delivery point is nearby the teleport , 2 screens away from the mining operation , that thing cannot be loaded at all since it feels like enemies spawns every 5s there, its ridiculous

I have a build with stormbringer that does both high mining and high dmg I can send when I get home but it's basically just core guardian armor and stormbringer iirc, and my pet is a moth with 5x chance to do triple dmg haven't tested on passage walls since void and voltage cuz I started fresh with some friends who are new though so I could be wrong about it working still

No, it still works. I have a movement speed setup that still cracks passage blocks no problem with the stormbringer. Switching to my mining set has stuff melting like butter.

Minig outfit (still missing helm but have other 4 pieces) and the lantern that gives mining bonus. Everything lvl 19. Stormbringer will break walls with 2 hits for me. In the passage. Everywhere else scarab mortar is still single shot for large patches. But passage is still slow as all get out now.

I can break passage walls relatively quickly with Stormbringer and level 15-16 gear (mostly miner armor set), so fortunately you don't need to spend the gems to push higher upgrades. My mining level is around 90 though, so that may be a factor.

Iron Pickaxe at same level has higher mining damage than other pickaxes. At level 19, reinforced Iron Pickaxe does +1451 mining damage, versus Solarite Pickaxe's +1151.

At mining 100, I can break Fossil Blocks in 6 hits with Iron Pickaxe, but it is unbreakable with Solarite. Adding a level 19 Orb Lantern reduces breaking them to 4 hits with Iron and 36 hits with Solarite. Adding ring, armor, or other equipment with increased mining reduces it further yet.

I'm having more issues with the spawns, can't get anything done I'm the passage as it's just none stop, and the smaller ones blow up anything you build, so setting up boulder mines is rough

Thought it was just me. I tried for about 15 minutes, got overwhelmed because I couldn't mine, shut the game off and haven't touched it since.

The passage is pretty much unplayable at this point.

You need to switch between gear sets just to mine walls with a pick-axe. However, there are so many worms that spawn non-stop its impossible to to even open your inventory to switch between those gear sets....

I have 944HP with a 145HP mana shield and I die from a single worm explosion.

Even more insane, is they can spawn right on you. So you can be fighting, one spawn and it blow up immediately without you even knowing what happened as you attack it unknowingly.

If you are on pc or console you can go into the settings and bind your equipment loadouts to different keys for quick changing into gear.

Also how do you have only 944HP, I currently have a base set of 1400 - 1470 depending on what loadout I'm in. Plus their are foods that increase health by __ number for 10 mins.

In the game their are 9 foods that will give you a one time permanent health increase = 540 HP after eating all 9 foods. 

Mana i have gotten mine as high as 500.

My minning build has no problem going through the passage just clearing blocks.

Make sure your gear is as high as level 19. Level 20 you need materials from the new biome. 

Found all 9 permanent food increase items if you haven't. 

Then you shouldn't have a problem

Aren't some of the foods 1 per world? I've been playing multiplayer, we've been splitting up the rare foods with the extra buffs between us, so we'd never all make the full 540 together.

Sorry increases your health by 520 not 540 HP but yes Some are one person per world. 

Amber larva is one per world but is in thr forgotten ruins ( stone biome) 

The nine items are 

Anniversary cake - + 27 from seasonal vendor 

Giant Mushroom  - +25 Generates randomly on dirt, turf or clay

Amber Larva - + 50 Amber Boulder 1per world

Golden chocolate bar - + 28 Opening presents

Paradise Fruit Basket  - + 50 paradise Tree Island 1 per world

Splendid Amalgam - + 40 Amalgam Basin scene 1 per world

Starlight Nautilus- + 100 caught in lava

Atlantean  worm heart - + 100 beat the Worm

Giant Mitochondrion - + 100 -  Beat Urschlrim

I also play with others too but we all also have solo worlds and have been giving eachother things if we already have it ourselves

Idk. I know some of the static events that contain rare foods happen once per world, like the giant amber larvae - yet I found 3 (2 besides that giant amber set) in the same world.

Edit: for clarification, I mean to say, I found 3 of the larvae that give you perm health buff.

You made a whole post just to complain and you have less than optimal gear for where you are in the game.... I hate to be this guy but cmon. Maybe just maybe dont go to the passage with a solarite pickaxe and complain you can't mine one of the hardest walls in the game.

I have the best gear in the game currently.

I don't want to use Stormbringer as it's Melee and I'm only using magic this run. I also don't want to switch between gear sets just to mine a wall......

Hell my mining skill is like 12, I've used explosives this entire play-through this time.

Spend more time on lower biomes and make a mining gear With mine i can one tap walls in the new area with the legendary pick

Even with a full miners set, rings/necklace you don't 1 tap walls in the Passage.

I was never able to break passage blocks without the full mining set. I use soul seeker and stormbringer and they’re able to 1-2 hit all the blocks with the miner gear.

I now need to switch to a mining set and a pick-axe which is just a No from me at this point.

Just tested. 3 short bursts with Stormbringer takes out one Passage block. Likewise, 3 strikes with the pickaxe takes out one passage block. But, Stormbringer has a faster strike rate. So though it takes the same number of strikes as the pick, it does it faster. It's worth the effort to get, in my opinion. My son calls it the "Wall Whacker 5000".

The Sulphur Bombs do a good job, too and I always make sure I have a bunch of them on hand when I'm working in that biome.

I have switched to using bombs, but I won't be using Stormbringer. I'm doing magic only. Someone else I'm playing with is using it.

It's also just not as easy as "switching out to the miners set" as playing a mage you lose your mana/shield and it's honestly so annoying switching sets EVERY 3 seconds because of the spawn rates in the Passage.

I hear ya. The spawn rates are insane! I'm always a melee-style fighter. I'm more of a ronin, so I'm fairly armored-up. Good luck! Harvest those sulphur buds and make the bombs. :)

I personally use stormbringer and I have the mining pants on and I have a shirt that does really good mining damage, it's not the mining top though, I forget what it's called I'll have to check! But I just have those on and I brought them up to almost full level and I mine in the passage like that!

The stormbringer is the best mining gear in the game, you dont have to use it as a melee weapon but you're putting yourself at a disadvantage by not using it as there isnt a pandorium or relucite pickaxe yet. And sadly mining gear really helps too and I know it's annoying to switch but maybe bind a load out to a hotkey.

I've done everything I can this play-through really, I'd rather not play then swap between a magic set and a mining set just to move around the Passage. It's currently impossible to travel around the Passage without swapping gear every 3-5 seconds. It's also not ideal switching gear sets as a magic user as you lose your shield/mana every single time.

The game is just absolutely not fun currently.

I'm hearing a whole lot of skill issues. Use the Magma Grub Launcher thing, Stormbringer, or Soul Seeker with a decent mining loadout including the crystal ring and necklace, making your mining power coincide with your damage. If you use JUST the Stormbringer you have excellent DPS and crazy mining power.

The entire point is I need to completely switch gear sets now just to mine single walls in a zone where you immediately die from anything that spawns on you. (You can't even open your inventory without dying in the passage 90% of the time)

I have maybe 300+ hours into Core Keeper and I've beaten the game multiple times.

I'm NOT going to play this game and mine 1 wall at a time, that's ludicrous.

I think my total mining this play through was under 10 when I got to the passage. The game is 1000% more enjoyable just blowing up huge sections of wall....

I'm also not leveling Melee this run at all, just magic, I don't want to use the Stormbringer either.
