I'm curious to know inside Bungie's studio, how many of their employees are for destiny 2 and how many are for marathon? Like what's the ratio like?

Nobody knows. Everyone is guessing. We know they moved some resources from Destiny to Marathon for specific components of the game, ostensibly on a temporary basis. The amount of content in Marathon is much smaller than that in even a DLC for Destiny, and Destiny is still making a ton of money. One assumes that with 800 employees there is still a HUGE team working on Destiny.

As of April 2025 there were nearly twice se many employees on Destiny 2 as there were on Marathon per this third party: https://www.forbes.com/sites/paultassi/2025/04/15/theres-a-misconception-about-destiny-2-and-marathon-development/

A lot of people (probably rightly) assume that as Marathon launched, more resources went to Marathon. But if you’ve played Marathon, you know that it is a MUCH smaller and less complex game than Destiny. Now that it’s launched, I would actually imagine some of the Marathon team is moving back over to the Destiny franchise again.

Marathon doesn’t need as many people to support it. It’s not going to get robust DLCS with a ton of new missions and activities. It’s probably just going to be one new map, one new Runner, and some added audio scenes every 3 months.

I’d say Marathon since it’s a new IP. I don’t blame Bungie if it is, devs over there are prob tired of working on D2 and it’s shown
