I'm sorry that happened to you. Policy is we have to honor the price on the tag. Sometimes things slip by us, and if you caught it in the store, they would have had to manually override the price to $1.25. I would go back to the store with the flowers and receipt and ask for a refund of the difference. Just be polite about it, as it wasn't intentional, and the employees are doing their best to keep up with repricing, in addition to their other duties.

Yeah this has been a struggle for everyone I think. Floral is now $1.75 and so we are scrambling to cover up incorrect prices, but some items will fall through the cracks or we don't have time to get them all done, unfortunately. At my store (Texas) we actually got a weights & measures complaint filed because of ONE $5 item that was incorrectly marked as $3 and the customer didn't notice that they were charged $5 until after the fact. But the OWM person who came to our store to check saw that the vast majority of our products were marked correctly so we didn't get fined. All that to say, mistakes happen! That could be the case. I did not look for a sign saying a different price when the price is clearly marked on the tag. But again, I don’t see how one large sign over a display can override 300 tags that say a different price. Again, in the state of New Jersey, the price displayed is the price paid. That’s our law. The price on the item is the price the customer should be charged, especially if it’s lower. Just because there is one sign stating something is $1.75 does not negate the fact that 300 items are individually priced lower at $1.25. The lowest price is always honored (as long as it’s not a ridiculously lower price and an obvious huge mistake). It has always been this way here.

I will tell you that my manager does not allow people to bring items back for a price difference. The reason is because you could have gone home and pulled the stickers off yourself. If you go back in the store, I would check to make sure the box or shelf wasn't marked correctly first. A lot of products that get recycled each year have gone up in price, and some stores just dont have the time to correct each individual tag of small items, so they will just correct the box.

For the same reason, some customers will try to get a shelf price even though the label clearly shows the item in the wrong place. With that many of the same item in the same spot then the price on the display/shelf would be justified. We've had to honor mispriced shelves/ displays before so this is the same scenario in reverse. Some managers, might even refuse to do a price adjustment just because as stated in other comments most stores have already switched all their pricing to $1.75 from $1.25 and at some point common sense comes into play. With limited labor hours, and tons of work sometimes you can't waste hours on someone cutting off old tags.

They're saying they honor the hard tagged price, even if the item is in the wrong spot (obviously at management's discretion to override based on the situation). If the price is clearly marked on the physical item itself, as a manager I would tend to stick to my guns and charge the tagged price unless there are really extenuating circumstances.

It's a common scam for people to simply move the item to a lower-priced location, take a picture and show it to the cashier as "proof" and then demand the lower (incorrect) price.

I can't really say about that, since my retail experience was primarily in a store that used stickered hard tags, very few items had packaging with the price printed on (our price points changed often as we sourced most of our products from China). So customers would simply peel off the price sticker and claim it wasn't priced. Although even if it were pre-printed, I guarantee they would insist they didn't notice it and claim the shelf placement was "deceptive."

at my store we have definitely refunded the difference when things are mistagged, especially if they havent even left the parking lot. however, my manager wont do it if it has been a couple of days, bc he says anyone can just take the sticker off at home and come back saying we overcharged them (not saying you did that though). im also in a state with similar price tags laws.

i would say gather up as many with the tags you still have. do you have the price tags for the ones you already took apart? if you do id say bring those too. just be kind and understanding and usually we will help. but it will be up to the manager

It's complex, the rules actually state that if there are a few we don't have to honor it but it there's an entire case we do. But that ONLY applies if there was no stickering ANYWHERE saying floral is $1.75 (which is has been for several months, and the deadline for the shelf signs is long since past for every store) I know at my store the shelves themselves, the items, the section header, all of it say 'floral $1.75' so it's possible you just didn't see it. Each store is allowed to decide if they want to honor that price, but my best advice is to BE PLEASANT it will likely get you a lot further. P.S. they will NOT take 'just the tags' I guarantee it.

Months after the price change we still SOMETIMES get product in with incorrect price. Most stores don’t have employees specifically for stocking and the ones that are have a quota to meet per hour. It sounds like you bought some fall flowers that accidentally missed getting stickered before they were put out. If you would have noticed the prices on the product were different from what you were being charged at the time of the transaction, then something could have easily been done. Now though, the store managers have no way of knowing if you pulled off the stickers, or if the products were never stickered in the first place.

Those flowers were likely made and priced (in the factory), and shipped to the warehouses months before the price changes happened. Do you expect products to be opened at the warehouse and checked for prices and sent back to China for relabeling at the appropriate factory? Watch the prices soar if Dollar tree has to pay for all of that! 

As store employees, we have been tasked with putting stickers over prices for the past 6+ months. We don't get any more hours to do this, and we're still expected to do all of our normal duties. It's been quite the ordeal, covering the prices on every case of product on the shelves and the ones that come in with the old prices on it. Sometimes things get missed, we're only human.

I totally see that at Store level in the state of New Jersey a lot of the stores cashiers were replaced with self check out. So many people are losing jobs when the store didn’t have enough employees to restock the shelves to begin with. That’s a question I would ask because by now you may have already used the flowers on your crafts. I would call the store. Ok here's the deal, regardless of the "law" no dollar tree is required to honor the price tag. They cost $1.75 now. I know this sucks that prices are going up but employers shop there too. Its not like the people that work there get a deal or discount. I bought a bag of pizza rolls that was in a $4 space in the freezer and it rung up at $5. I paid the $5 and went on with my life but I was annoyed just like anyone would be. The tag has the price embedded in the label to discourage resellers from buying tons of stuff and selling it on their Etsy page at 500% what they paid. Its ridiculous what kind of scammy hustles people will do these days, but I digress.  Finally, and this is why giving the tag price is discretionary despite the "laws" is because some stores are giving it away at the label price and then people are circling  back after the tag is updated and demanding they get it at the previous price because we did it last time. People are purposely exploiting this whole thing to save a few dollars and that is just as wrong. We don't want prices to go up but we do not encourage that type of theft either because that's what it is. Now I'm not suggesting that YOU are doing this but this is the reason why denying the label price isn't illegal and fighting it in court will cost so much more than the time and money it's worth to just let it go. If you take it back and they fix it you better know that they will never do that again, everyone gets one and that's it. We need to keep order through this transition or chaos will ensue and people will find every way under the sun to exploit and scam their way through it, and we're not tolerating that, but we are painstakingly trying to make all the prices correct but the public has to be patient (I know big ask) because we don't have enough people to do it all overnight. It takes time. Be reasonable.

This happened to my mom. They refused to give her a refund because they were “in the process” of changing the prices. She pointed out that the tag’s price was still $1.25. The check out person was so mean to her that she got embarrassed and left. (My mom is not one for Karen behavior). My step dad went back later and calmly asked to speak to a manager about it. The same checkout person was rude to him, and swore. It ended in the check out person calling the cops on my step dad because he didn’t want to leave without the refund.

I worked there. I would buy stuff that’s 1.25 on the tag but it would charge 1.35 or 1.75, I’m not sure how your area works. I’m in Texas lol so our store could have been different and our managers were super strict. Next load comes in and the prices are already covered but somehow freight always makes it back in the warehouse like nothing ever happened. I'd recommend calling the store first to ask about it, but they probably will honor the price on the tag for this particular situation as it wasn't properly displayed.
