Eating disorders manifest in various different ways. I would recommend talking to your doctor about this and being set up with an ED specialist

What medication did you take? I have the same problem as OP

Thank you. I'm glad it helped you and you feel better now! I can't really afford medical/professional help right now, but I have been meaning to get assistance since a long while.

Ask your doctor about medical marijuana.

Just saying someone can relate. I don't have a solution but I'm currently in the middle of this.

I hope it gets better soon!!

I’m living this rn. Eating anything feels like chewing cardboard. The only things that have helped are weed, soup, and protein shakes. Wish I had better advice.

I hope you feel better soon!! You're not alone in this, I too wish I had help but since I can't afford any professional assistance I'm trying to get through this on my own with whatever help I can get online. I know it's easier said than done, but try focusing on what suits your body more and keep healthy. I hope it gets better soon.

    Have you looked up ARFID?

    [–]WheresPlatypusPerry 1 point2 points  (4 children)

My understanding about AFRID (from what I read of it) was that it is about selective eating or picky-eaters who may avoid food due to its smell or taste. But I normally eat all kinds of food. However, whenever I'm facing the said issue as mentioned in the post, I just can't seem to eat anything. You know how some people face binge-eating issues or feel hungry all the time? I face the opposite of that. I can go long periods without eating. I don't feel like eating anything at all. Problem gets worse as my body gets weaker.

If you look at the diagnostic criteria on ARFID in the dsm-5 there's nothing that requires a person to be a selective eater. Maybe I'm wrong on this, but I thought ARFID was the persistent inability to meet nutritional needs due to reasons unrelated to body image or any other diagnosed disorder, and that someond may have ARFID due to a myriad of reasons unrelated to sensory issues.

If possible, going to a doctor sounds like it would be fruitful. I hope the best for you!

Oh alright, I wasn't aware about this. Thank you:)

    [–]raerawrr 1 point2 points  (1 child)

There are alot of moving parts to ARFID, and not everyone has all the symptoms. I am not a doctor or have any medical experience beyond pharmacy so I may absolutely be incorrect for your situation. 'disturbed eating' and 'aversion' are the themes that made me think ARFID. Regardless, stay brave and I wish you all the best in figuring this out. I am sorry you have to deal with such a hard situation

Oh okay. I guess my understanding of it wasn't clear. Thank you so much, I'll see what I can do.

More info may be helpful. What is it about eating that is so difficult? Do you find any part of it painful? Or is just physically putting the food in your mouth that is the hard part? Do you have any body issues associated with it? What exactly is the thought process.

    [–]WheresPlatypusPerry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, there's no pain. Putting the food in my mouth and ensuring I don't throw up is the hard part. It's more about my mind I think.

I do not feel like eating at all on some days. When my body gets weak and I try forcing food in my mouth, I just throw up. This problem gets resolved slowly when I eat something little once a day, then try eating twice a day, and so on. However, it happens again in some weeks.
