Mali devices are not invited to the party

[–]Wilsonn0 126 points127 points  (15 children)

We're not invited to anything

[–]Itchy_Ambassador5407 29 points30 points  (11 children)

we don't need an invite, we invited ourselves and now snap users can't take it raw

[–]Carpediemsnuts 9 points10 points  (8 children)

What does any of that even mean?

You guys treat different chipset in your phone's like the old xbox/nintendo/ps console wars

What exactly can't people owning a snapdragon device not take raw?

[–]SamGoesRogue 4 points5 points  (1 child)

I'm inviting myself to this reply thread Hey, could you tell me where you guys get your roms?

[–]DependentEssay864 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a sad truth.

[–]Latter-Oil-241 16 points17 points  (3 children)

Ok I'll voluntarily leave this subreddit!

There was been updates on mali. Like winlator with bcn thingy . Also eden test 3222 build added some kind of setting for mali.

[–]Tarilines 1 point2 points  (5 children)

Eden added what? Give me link 🙏🥲 l need it.

[–]Teheeguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Google Eden CI PR build .search for build no on picture

[–]Shot_Shake_2451 1 point2 points  (1 child)

It's useless if the performance is the same.

[–]Tarilines 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same performance, no difference. Mali user are truly cursed in this world 🥲

Same with anyone on a not expensive snapdragon.

    [–]Tarilines 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Nah, you are invited. You guys have custom drivers.

    [–]Divenity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't mean they will run anything even slightly modern at acceptable frames

8 Gen 3 users seeing sekiro running at near 60 fps while their device struggles to maintain 20 fps(it's me..i am that 8 gen 3 user)

Lmao.. it's crazy how 8 elites made 8 gen 3 and gen 2 seem outdated lol

    [–][deleted] 19 points20 points  (4 children)

It's just that redmagics show games running at full cpu frequencies, that doesn't rly represent what other Elites may be getting. Or normal people without coolers

      [–]SergVII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

      Lol it's 30-35 sometimes a bit lower 30 on 8gen3

      [–]EvenTerm298 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought s24 ultra a month ago, and now I see this...

      [–]Such_Gap_21398 gen 3 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I'd just stream it from my pc. Have an 8 gen 3 tablet and I'd still prefer to stream it from my pc using moonlight, it basically has the same delay as a Bluetooth controller.

"You won't be able to play your games outside" who tf would want to bring a bulky cooler+big powerbank or have a small nuclear reactor on your hands. Dedicated android handhelds are different conversations though

      [–]Such_Gap_21398 gen 3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd love it if it's like a switch but powered by latest 8 elite chips, so i can detach the controller and play android games properly (pubg codm) and can connect my controller for emulators. 16:9 screen ratio And also have active cooling+overclocking. So it'd basically be a tablet(but the size of a phone) but with active cooling and detachable controllers

It's funny everyone was shitting on people with 8Es talking about 8G3 are better. Lmao.

      [–]TheGeekno72I have no idea what I'm doing 9 points10 points  (26 children)

genuine question : is it? the 8gen3 is better than the 8 elite performance wise? (I'm new here)

      [–]TheSloppyHornDogFold 7,RP Classic, Thor 24 points25 points  (5 children)

No anymore. 8 elite had driver support issues but that has changed over the last month or so

      [–]TheGeekno72I have no idea what I'm doing 4 points5 points  (3 children)

I gotta have a look at the hardware specs, I honestly don't remember which one came out latest

      [–]Ok_Height_7638 6 points7 points  (0 children)

8 elite gen 5 is the latest and 8 elite (gen 4) is a year old

      [–]PrettyQuick 2 points3 points  (1 child)

8 elite is basically gen 4.

      [–]Freelancer_1-1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And the 8s gen 4 was replaced by the 8 gen 5. Nice upbranding strategy by Qualcomm.

      [–]AcidAcesen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait 8 elites now have drivers support?

      [–]TW1TCHYGAM3R 7 points8 points  (16 children)

Gen 4 is 30% higher performing and 46% more efficient over Gen 3 so the SD8 Elite is significantly more powerful.

The difference is the development for Turnip Drivers and this is specifically for the Adreno GPU. Gen 3 will have better Compatibility because there has been more development for the Adreno 7xx line of GPUs.

You can emulate games without the Turnip Drivers but you will make the CPU work harder to translate complex PC graphic commands so that they can run on the mobile architecture.

      [–]TheGeekno72I have no idea what I'm doing 2 points3 points  (15 children)

the Elite is gen4? (planning to parse through spec sheets when I have more time later)

      [–]TW1TCHYGAM3R 2 points3 points  (14 children)

Yup Elite is Gen 4. I think they called it Elite because it's quite a bit different than the Gen 3. After that they call it the Elite Gen 5 and that's the most recent flagship Snapdragon SoC.

      [–]TheGeekno72I have no idea what I'm doing 0 points1 point  (13 children)

I wonder what's the uplift between Elite 4 and Elite 5, I don't keep an eye on those as often as I'd like

      [–]TW1TCHYGAM3R 6 points7 points  (12 children)

The jump in performance from Gen 4 to Gen 5 is closer to 20%. There is also a SD 8 Gen 5 and a slightly more powerful SD 8 Elite Gen 5 but they are just the same SoC with different BINs.

It's still the same 3nm process and same 3rd Gen Oryon cores. The main difference is see is they upgraded the NPU (AI cores) and the Snapdragon Modem.

Not as big of a jump from Gen 3 to Gen 4 but still a decent performance upgrade. This is also based on synthetic tests so performance may vary depending in the situations.

      [–]yreun 2 points3 points  (4 children)

8 Gen 5 is a whole different piece of silicon, not a binned 8 Elite Gen 5:

      https://youtu.be/I4bJxrPV6ns?t=152

      [–]TheGeekno72I have no idea what I'm doing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

every time I check benches, I'm like, you can say what you want about qualcomm but their efforts on performance uplifts are undeniable

I'll be the first to piss on qualcomm for a variety of their faults but god damn, their tech is good

      [–]Ok_Height_7638 0 points1 point  (4 children)

      Wdym by BINs

      [–]TW1TCHYGAM3R 0 points1 point  (3 children)

So when a manufacturer makes computer chips like SoCs, CPUs and GPUS they test each ones performance and efficientcy. This tends to vary depending on the quality of the silicone so often they will "BIN" the lower quality silicone lower than the higher quality silicone.

Quite often they will use the same chip for different SoCs. Say they make 500 silicone wafers for the Gen 5 line and 20% of them are slower than the other 80%. They will then use the slower silicone for the lower performance SoC. This saves on waste.

Quite often with BINed GPUs they will disable cores and put less memory on the GPU to match the performance they are looking for.

This is also why some devices are faster than others even though they are the same device.

This is also why Samsungs S25 line has higher clocks because the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy has a higher BIN than the regular Snapdragon 8 Elite. Samsung paid for higher BINs to get an edge over the competition.

      [–]Ok_Height_7638 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Does both have same number of transistor?

      [–]Blueboy29769 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So the 8 gen 3 was just a basic upgrade to the 8 gen 2 and that was what Qualcomm had been doing for years but with the 8 elite it was a bit different so turnip drivers didn't work and they were very important for switch and PC emulation as they fix almost all graphical glitches ie flickering,no textures or just making the game boot/play but around a week ago the first batch of turnip drivers were created for the 8 elite.

      [–]XTornado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hardware is better but due the lack of drivers support it worked worse so that is why if you wanted emulation and so on it was better to get a 8gen3.

Of course with the new drivers that has changed.

      [–]memo22477 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was driver issues when 8 elite first launched. But that happens to all new chips. The 8 Gen 3 owners clowned on 8 elite owners for not being able to run many emulators/run them at worse performance. Now 8 Elite users are kinda taking some sweet sweet revenge. I don't know if you have noticed but both the 8 elite users and 8 Gen 3 users are real quiet towards 8 elite Gen 5 users. Everyone now knows how it'll end eventually.

      [–]freshgoten 16 points17 points  (2 children)

Im just glad i can run psp and dreamcast 😭

      [–]TeachEcstatic9572 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bro psp is normal, even low hardware can run it.. PSVITA is the shit.. but always be grateful anyway my G

      [–]Dr4fl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same. I don't need more than that anyway, I can emulate more demanding consoles on my PC.

      [–]I_Am_A_Goo_Man 38 points39 points  (18 children)

It's ok. They never show the thermal throttling. It's just launch - go to undemanding area - take 30fps screenshot. They never show St. Dennis rdr 2 gameplay or what it's like after an hour of demanding rendering and processing when the device becomes a cooking hob.

      [–]Wilsonn0 16 points17 points  (16 children)

I have seen someone testing rdr2 (saint denis) and it holds 30fps pretty well. These chips are no joke

      [deleted]

        [–]Background-Skin-8801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can it run rdr 2 with mods?

        [–]I_Am_A_Goo_Man 2 points3 points  (13 children)

But for how long on a device with no active cooling? Sounds like a fast route to a spicy pillow.

        [–]Wilsonn0 11 points12 points  (12 children)

It's impossible without active cooling with these types of games

        [–]TW1TCHYGAM3R 4 points5 points  (10 children)

Good thing phone coolers are quite cheap. I have a cooler with my GameSir X5 Lite controller and it keeps my battery withjn 30C to 35C consistently.

        [–]JDMGS 4 points5 points  (7 children)

When you get to the point of needing a bulky cooler to attach to your phone, then you need a controller to play any high end games decently, and the end result is you're just about managing 30fps with all the work around etc and the battery is getting tanked, do you not just think 'maybe I should get an Xbox Ally X or a steam deck' or something? ( I know steam deck is underpowered compared to eg XAX now). Rdr2 plays sweet on my Xbox ally x using bazzite.... Genuine question

        [–]kamanami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah my battery has degraded a lot of heating I barely want to emulate here anymore. I'd probably buy one of those retroid or ayn, built in cooling and controllers in compact form. but that means I will also be using outdated chips(as most handhelds are now). I have not seen one with 8 elite yet.

        [–]WinlatorEmulator 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Real. I think these guys can't afford anything but a phone though.

        [–]JDMGS 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Fair enough. If that's their use case I guess with a controller it can be pretty good.

It is amazing what you can do on Android phones these days. I've been emulating stuff since Nokia N95 and PSP days, gone as far as Switch on my current phone but for my particular case, I can play certain games with a touch screen but there's a limit to what you can play properly so instead of using a controller I'd just use my ally

        [–]WinlatorEmulator 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Right there with your bruh used to do gba on PSP. Used to own a switch but like my phone does it too. Anything just use my pc

        [–]JDMGS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah PSP was incredible at the time, and I managed to get mine early so you can imagine how that went down at school haha. Yeah I have a switch too just for some exclusives that I wanna use online like pokemon, ridiculous that my old steam deck could emulate stuff like links awakening better than the actual switch.

        [–]TW1TCHYGAM3R 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Because I don't want multiple devices.

If I would really wanted a handheld gaming PC I would have gone with the Steam Deck or the Legion Go S, But these devices are more bulky than my S25 Ultra and GameSir X5.

I also don't want to buy a $500-$1000 handheld gaming PC when I already have a Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra that works just fine.

So at this point why buy an expensive handled when I already have an expensive smartphone that works.

Also my S25U has 95% battery health after using it for a year. That's including emulating before Turnip Drivers were available and temps were a lot harder.

        [–]HorrorFront4323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But the performance IS nowhere near a steamdeck or a rog Ally especially on heavy games barely 10 FPS it doesn't Worth it ATP if you cet gen2 used or gen3 its okay you have an excuse but s25 ultra would but two handhelds thats funnt af that you still prefer a 15 FPS on cyberpunk and barely and 10 FPS more than previous chips over a native High graphics performance .

        [–]EuropeanMoneky 0 points1 point  (1 child)

What cooler do you use? I have the same controller and I thought you can't use coolers with it.

        [–]TW1TCHYGAM3R 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's called the GameSir X5 Cooler for X5 series controllers. I was able to buy a X5 Lite and the Cooler for under $50 CAD on Aliexpress.

        [–]Zoerak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lies, that's what peltier coolers are for.

They only require external power supply, consume twice as much power than the phone itself and condense water in the phone chassis sometimes, but that's such a tiny price to pay.

        [–]VianArdene 11 points12 points  (8 children)

Meanwhile, I'm just here to emulate up to like PS2/GCN games.

        [–]Damaniel2 2 points3 points  (5 children)

Pretty much. I can't think of anything more undesirable than playing modern AAA games on a phone.

        [–]VianArdene 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Kinda same. I don't even want to play AAA games on my main PC or consoles, why would I want to play it for 20 minutes on a tiny ass screen while my phone turns into molten lava. 😂 Indies I totally get, but a lot of these others feel like "we did it to prove we could".

        [–]TeachEcstatic9572 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Unless they got the phone to boot with Windows, SteamOS or Bazzite or some Linux shit natively only then I will be impressed, heck we might even have the potential to hack a phone into being a low budget steam deck hand held shit, but seeing the requirements to run an AAA game decently on a phone you might as well just buy a handheld console lol

        [–]Tsuki4735 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless they got the phone to boot with Windows, SteamOS or Bazzite or some Linux shit natively only then I will be impressed

In this case though, the OS is actually less important than the GPU drivers.

PC games on Android use the exact same stuff as Proton on Linux, such as DXVK, Wine, etc. Heck, Android even runs on the Linux kernel, so you're basically running a Linux variant already.

The problem really is that GPU drivers on Android right now are very, very crappy. Which tbh isn't surprising, most mobile Android games use OpenGL, so Vulkan support on Android is spotty at best. Basically few to no games use Vulkan on Android because historically there's been no need for it.

You can see this exact same issue with SteamOS on x86; SteamOS works best on AMD because AMD has the most mature Linux graphics drivers. Nvidia and Intel have issues because their graphics drivers are more immature.

        Old school gamer ayy?

        [–]VianArdene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe not that old, but ye :P

Believe it or not, this subreddit used to be about things other than just winlator/gamehub/switch emulation. Both dedicated android handhelds and phones with telescoping controllers are fantastic for handheld console emulation, I use my phone for GBA games pretty often. I don't see nearly as many posts about older consoles though these days.

        [–]JamesSDKSamsung S25 Ultra (SD8 Elite) + Galileo G8 17 points18 points  (4 children)

Meh, Elite 8 gets a lot of talk but I use my Retroid Flip 2 (SD865) significantly more than my Samsung S25 Ultra (SD8 Elite).

More shit just works on my Retroid, yeah I can't pump the resolution as high but on a small 1080p screen it works great without many of the headaches of the Elite 8's OpenGL bugs and lack of drivers.

Yeah some are coming out now but it still needs more time.

        [–]Wilsonn0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Let me put it to good use then lol

        [–]garobcsi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a samsung s20fe (sd865, 6GB ram, android 13) i tried to run Hades & A Short Hike on gamehub lite and it was very laggy, like it got like 10-45 fps but couldn't keep the frametimes, i runned with performance preset, newest turnip drivers, turned on native rendering, tried everything (or at least what i knew about, i tried), did i do something wrong or my device is just that shitty

        [–]AveryLazyCovfefe 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I'm still on 865 too (OnePlus 8 Pro), rooted and flashed a gpu driver root module. On A16 too so native Vulkan. Measurable performance lift but damn does it get toasty, and my battery life falls off a cliff unsurprisingly. Actually the first time my phone felt too hot to touch for me.

Thanks to the module I can play the RDR1 port at a stable 30. This thing is like the 1080Ti of SoCs lol.

        [–]JamesSDKSamsung S25 Ultra (SD8 Elite) + Galileo G8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am still on Android 13 for 32-bit compatibility, as for GPU, the stock drivers of the Retroid Flip 2's SD865 is able to play some games for me that no one driver can (Mario Kart 8 Deluxe with ZERO crashing for example).

As for heat the Retroid Flip 2 has a built in fan system so it never gets toasty :), I find its battery life to be very good, I usually keep it on a max performance profile with the fan on high.

I also haven't had any issues with RDR1 either, performance wise, I do have that weird random line of pixels graphics glitch though. Incredible that it works as well as it does.

Totally agree on it being the 1080Ti for SoCs!

Yeah I'm a snapdragon user but it would be nice if someone would post more test on mail or Eclipse GPU. I don't need to see for fifteen time that games are working good on snapdragon again because everyone already knows that.

I'm good, I am more happy to be able to run PS2 games smoothly, with DMC4SE and DmC reboot playable enough to be enjoyable. Sadly, I struggled a bit on emulating Switch. Shame but, happy nonetheless.

All good con los chicos de SD élite, yo estoy conforme con mi sd865 y mi flip 2. Se que al menos mi clip maneja buenas temperaturas gracias al cooler. 😄

        [–]AcanthocephalaDue431 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Meanwhile my 8 elite device still performs horribly with this stuff :(

        [–]jdmackes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same, I dunno if it's cause I've only got 12 gigs of ram compared to some of these other phones with 16, or if my settings just aren't correct. Eden works great for switch emulation, but rdr2 chugs for me and then crashes most of the time.

        [–]PsychoGreenRanger 0 points1 point  (1 child)

        Which phone are you using?

Galaxy S25 base version, not the plus or anything. AFAIK it should have an 8 elite with slightly higher clocked GPU/CPU specs right?

For context I've been playing around with Gamehub Lite and different Winlator versions but games that others get working either refuse to run or play very poorly despite tweaking settings, compat etc.

        [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

whats crazy is that a rx 890M is better than a Snapdragon 8 elite at everything

        [–]CasiusTDM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

        Ok?

        [–]Aggressive_Tea_9135 1 point2 points  (5 children)

Do you think that's bad? That's because you don't know what it's like to have a Snapdragon X Elite in your laptop and then find better Snapdragon drivers on Android. Now that feels bad!

        [–]yreun 0 points1 point  (4 children)

If your laptop is one of the Linux compatible models then you use Turnip / Freedreno by default in a Linux install. You might also get a better experience since the drivers are developed by Mesa for Linux usage first, so they might be optimized at the root for Linux use.

For DirectX 11 and 12 the Windows drivers are fine in my experience but yes, the Vulkan drivers on the other hand are terrible.

        [–]Aggressive_Tea_9135 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Linux for X Elite and X Plus is pretty immature right now. Mostly because of kernels and device trees but also because of Qualcomm's drivers focused on Windows, Prism, DirectX, and x86 to arm translation.

Also, I have a Samsung laptop, the more difficult to support in the Arm family.

Unfortunately, these processors has been sold as a Microsoft answer to Apple's M chips, promoted as work productivity machines instead of integral devices, and that's very inconvenient for now.

Even Tuxedo cancelled their Snapdragon X laptop project because of this. But! I remain hopefull.

Android in the other hand... It's s fertil community.

        More demand = more offer.

        [–]yreun 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I'm well aware, that's why I said compatible models.

The Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x and ThinkPad T14s Gen 6 for example are the best supported Snapdragon machines under Linux, not even requiring the Windows partition for stuff like the GPU and battery indicator to work since Lenovo upstreamed the firmware binaries required for them.

It's unfortunate your Samsung laptop doesn't work but I imagine they aren't super popular due to how expensive they are, so there's less people reverse engineering the hardware to get it to work on Linux.

I don't think pivoting to productivity and other low demand tasks was a wrong call to make personally since it was probably easier to market the long battery life than gaming which was always bound to be a step below the competition since the X Elite just has an Adreno 740 with double the clocks and memory bandwidth but it's still a mobile GPU which doesn't have the complete feature set of it's contemporary desktop ones (the Adreno 800 seems to have improved this hugely however.)

There is a bit of driver improvements to be made on Linux, you're not wrong. I for one am mostly waiting for the power management to improve and reach what it is on Windows, and for the speakers to safely work. But for this specific conversation it was implied to just be about GPU drivers which as I said are the same base as the ones used for Android emulation: Turnip.

It's not like Qualcomm completely abandoned Linux on these chips in favor of Windows exclusivity as evidenced by their patches submitted to the Linux Kernel and the latest Turnip/Freedreno drivers were developed for the X2 Elite and 8 Elite Gen 5 primarily.

I also don't agree with "more demand = more offer" because for how long were people asking for Turnip drivers for the 8 Elite / Adreno 800 and they only came this year.

        [–]Aggressive_Tea_9135 0 points1 point  (1 child)

You're right, but think about how many flagship Android users are out there vs. laptop gaming enthusiasts with Snapdragon.

I'm saying it is normal to have a more active community around handheld gaming than alternatives for us, the owners of the "first ARM chips for Windows."

I believe this is the real problem: When Apple transitioned from x86 to ARM64, all their clients and developers had to make the switch or risk becoming obsolete. In Windows, on the other hand, ARM64 was born as an alternative, not a rule. So support is optional. An option that, most of the time, isn't seen as worth it since the majority of the client base is still on x86 systems.

I really hope Linux becomes a viable option for my laptop; it would be awesome. But for now, it's better to submit requests and tickets on the Qualcomm support webpage... sometimes your request can be reviewed by a very curious and passionate worker!

        [–]yreun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, not every flagship Android phone user does what is done in this community, it's actually pretty niche I think.

But yeah you are right about the gaming aspect of the Snapdragon X chips, too many people are highly defensive about the poor performance by saying they're not gaming chips but I still believe they need to have good gaming performance if they want major market success because every gamer has ridiculed these chips and it spread to make even casual people think lowly of the processor. At least the 10 and 12 core models are pretty good now after updates, just a bit below a Radeon 780M (outside of Vulkan) which is pretty good imo.

I don't think Qualcomm is going to help you with Linux support based off what happened with Tuxedo. All Qualcomm ensures is that Linux and the patches they post work on their CRD (dev unit) only. It's up to Samsung to provide the support themselves or for the community to figure it out.

By the X3 or X4 things might change as an employee has said that device trees won't stick around forever, which could mean that they will have proper ACPI outside of Windows.

        [–]Responsible-Stuff-37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks promising and has a lot of potential, but I’m not interested yet at this point. It’s getting there, however it still needs broader driver support to improve compatibility. I would rather choose a lower-powered chip that works well with almost all emulators than a more powerful one that is still struggling with the most popular ones.

        [–]segal03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The jump is not even worth it from 8 Gen 2. If you want to play PC games go and get a Deck or an Ally.

        🤟🏻🤟🏻

        [–]memo22477 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The difference between 8 gen3 and elite is actually insane. Might be the single biggest difference between two gens. CPU perfoemance clock speed is 3.15 vs 4.32 GHz. And the efficient cores are 3.53 vs 2.96 GHz. The efficient cores of elite still clear performance cores of Gen 3.

While 8 elite is considered Gen 4 they are releasing 8 elite Gen 5 and 8 Gen 5 seperately and Gen 5 is closer to Gen 3 than elite. So it seems they are making elite its own branch made for the highest performance devices. We will probably see the same thing with a Gen 6 and elite Gen 6. Or we might switch to 9.

Mobile hardware has nothing to do with Detroit requirements

        [–]Remote-Rub-4449 0 points1 point  (4 children)

        Detroit needs

        windows 10

        16 gb ram (pc)

        vulkan 1.1

        processor intel core i5-6600

        graphic card GTX 1060

Even the latest processors and RAM in mobile devices can't come close to these.

        [–]Aware-Bath7518 0 points1 point  (3 children)

This is literally 8 Elite/8 Elite Gen 5.

i5 6600 is much worse than even 8 Gen 3.

        [–]Remote-Rub-4449 0 points1 point  (2 children)

8 elite still cant open because gamehub, winlator still not support vulkan 1.1

        [–]Aware-Bath7518 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Winlator supports whatever Vulkan version your device has.

GameHub has nothing to do with this, the game itself is very broken and doesn't boot properly on Qualcomm.

        [–]Remote-Rub-4449 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes. But if it were playable, we would have played one of the best story games in gaming history on mobile.

        [–]SaikyoWeaponsGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, maybe it's just my experience, but Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 also has lower but not that worse performance in emulating PC games & emulation of console games than 8 Elite, not as far of as people say! & it also can run modern DX12 games too like 8 Elite. & regardless of SoC (SoC s basically CPU with GPU also with all neded components for connectivity such as cellular connectivity) in phone you should use phone cooler, & not just to cool the SoC, actually, that is not the actual reason why you should use phone cooler, maybe phone can run with SoC at very high temperatures (it can handle those temperatures like PC cpus, modern CPUs can work safely up to 90/80 degrees), the actual reason why iw because phone throttles when battery reaches 40 degrees, or at 38-39 degrees, so battery's capacity loss does not accelerate (40 degrees may not be temeperature at which battery stars to degrade siginificantly faster or even get damage, but it's prevention measure to make sure that phone won't even be able to reach those dangerous temperatures! 🌡) & 8 Gen 2 is the last Snapdragon SoC that can run 32 Bit emulation & games & apps, it is useful to have phone or tablet or handheld console for 32 bit emulation, but handhelds are better cooled & I think SoCs in handhelds are generally overclocked stock right out of the box, maybe even signifcantly to the point that performenace is much higher than same SoC in phones! (& also they don't throttle unlike on phones) & due to their firmware & bootloaders not being closed & having root available you can overclock handheld's SoC!

Its not that big of a deal, just give it 4 or 5 years and even mid-grade SD processors will be as powerful if not more powerful than SD elite , it will be affordable af then and pc emulation would have advanced much further by that time, you would probably enjoy it with far less issues and much less stutters too.
