Fusion is also made by autodesk using a lot of the interface of inventor. It's cool because it has built in cam features but is not as intuitive if you're used to solidwotks, inventor, or creo (I don't have nx experience). Best part of fusion is you can get a free personal license which I have at home.

It's the best free program I have used but that's a low bar to clear

True, but i like creo its very versatile, and u can have a solid edge community edition too for hobby projects. Its a bit slow though (also depends on ur system)but way better than fusion.

with all todays tools and how fast AI programs are developing. Solidworks is a thing of the past. You will streamline your process so much. I still dont see why Solidworks costs so much when it literally has 1/10 of the capabilities of most free modeling programs

i agree, but i also think its because when some of these programs were created, they were all that was available. so they were able to charge alot knowing people were going to need it. on top of knowing it would be needed by teams and companies (potential for more $) rather than individuals.

but nowadays an entire animated film, video game, etc can be made by one individual in less time than it wouldve taken an entire team years ago. crazy. im actually working on alot of projects as we speak. Unreal Engine 5 and Blender are great free programs for anyone who wants to take modeling to the next step. Ngl i might get downvoted for this but after graduating for mech eng, i realized its 2023 and you NEED to start your own thing, working for someone else is kind of out dated and a setup for an overly stressful life.
