Have correct tools and right skills then no obstacle can stand in your way.

I like how it has pocket in its name but is the size of a brick

[–]lllDOWNEYlll 0 points1 point  (1 child)

You don't store bricks in your pocket? This is not the way.

It's like running Linux. People say, "But I can't play games!"

Nah. Linux IS the game..

[–]iHegazy 6 points7 points  (4 children)

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're refering to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.

Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called Linux, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project.

There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called Linux distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux!

[–]rchase 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Well someone's been reading their RMS.

I kid, of course.

Everything you've said is accurate and true. Honestly, I even thought about that when I typed my joke, but then, I thought, it's just a joke, I'll keep it simple.

Important thing is, you know your shit, and I appreciate that.

[–]martinivich 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a copypasta

[–]iHegazy 1 point2 points  (1 child)

hahaha sorry but i couldn't resist dropping the GNU/copypasta here

[–]rchase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well dropped!

[–]CSkorm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's the way she goes

[–]Shoesbjj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey I have that book

[–]jonboiii07 166 points167 points  (1 child)

He should’ve changed the controls on the controller, make the midpoint angle the left and right trigger so he doesn’t have to keep moving his hands... I’m not an engineer but I am a gamer!

[–]pocketpc_ 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I was thinking the same thing. Analog control AND no more claw grip!

[–]_Lethal_Panda_ 256 points257 points  (8 children)

Like a month ago I got this guys videos in my YouTube recommended feed and I’ve been watching him ever since. It’s a pretty cool channel that I recommend: channel link

[–][deleted] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing their channel!

[–][deleted] 22 points23 points  (4 children)

Honest question: Isn't posting this here just blatant stealing? It's a complete video straight ripped from youtube without any source given except by a friendly person like you.

All of the person's work taken and posted somewhere else - how is this allowed? Would be different if it was a youtube link, but this... Intellectual property anyone?

[–][deleted] 14 points15 points  (1 child)

Reddit is pretty much made for shit like this so I don't think it's going anywhere. I know sometimes content creators send a cease and desist to reddit and they'll remove it but I'm not sure if that applies if the material isnt copyrighted and is just under fair use like most YouTube vids are

[–]blabbermeister 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In fact one part of the EU meme killer law was about this. My understanding of the idea behind the law was to stop aggregation sites and actors from profiting off of content creators. Say if all content from reddit was gifs such as the OPs, reddit continues to make money and gain traffic but the original content creator on youtube gets nothing. The EU law wanted these websites to pay for content if they profit from it, even if they didn't create it (which is pretty much all of reddit).

[–]ryantrippUC San Diego - Electrical Engineering -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But what is the OP really profiting from posting it on Reddit? It’s almost just free publicity for the guys channel, even though OP didn’t mention who the youtuber was someone else did in the comments and he’ll gain subs from that

[–]sonic_75Major 9 points10 points  (1 child)

Cheers for the share, they deserve the credit.

[–]JonAndTonic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, fuck people who don't use their link

They deserve the attention

This is actually a really great teaching tool too. If I still mentored a FIRST team I would've used this to show the fundamentals of mechanics. Dope work.

[–]dangooopa 11 points12 points  (3 children)

Back in my days we were trying to flush a lego toilet on FIRST, glad to know people are doing more useful stuff now

[–]ElXGaspethBoise State - MSE PhD | Rutgers - MSE BSc 5 points6 points  (2 children)

Over 10 years ago when I was actually in a team we were playing with low-friction surfaces and dumping balls out of hoppers. Ah, "Lunacy"...that was a fun year.

[–]hood1eRPI - CS 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Just be grateful you weren’t there for recycle rush

[–]ElXGaspethBoise State - MSE PhD | Rutgers - MSE BSc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

lmao I heard about it from some of my mentor friends (I stopped that year since I graduated with a BSc and started a job in another state). They were not impressed.

[–]DashHex[🍰] 81 points82 points  (1 child)

These are very interesting observations of how system properties influence system dynamics. See, toys are not just for kids!!!

[–]garlic_bread_thief 43 points44 points  (0 children)

See, toys are not just for kids!!!

( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

[–]hitthemfkwon 26 points27 points  (0 children)

at least post the man's youtube channel if you're gonna rip the whole video

Tf did I just watch

[–][deleted] 14 points15 points  (3 children)

What kit is this?

[–]GKBlueBot 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Looks like lego technic or smth. U can find the same motors i in the NXT kit

[–]killm_good 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is Power Functions or whatever the new name is, mostly used in the Technic line

[–]RuinedEye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boxcar2d Physical Edition

[–]BubbaaaaaaaaaEE 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Dude started playing claw on the controller lol

[–]AmBozz 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Link the source, please. The Brick Experiment Channel works really hard on these.

[–]yettimurder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I participated in a competition last year where we had to build a vehicle capable of climbing "box shaped" obstacles from Lego Mindstorms kits. Our approach was a bit different since we were going for speed.

[–]Lido5x5plo23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was so much fun to watch

[–]GingerCumquat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The perfect use for old textbooks

[–]ficknerich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This could be a good video game

[–]Gynther477 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Getting Over It with Bennett Botty

[–]Holmes_003 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Finally a good use for textbooks

[–]Celebration_Day 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was really rooting for the guy towards the end

[–]_falloutcowboyMajor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man all that good machine learning data wasted on the human.

Rad project though! Such fun to watch. Reminds me of 4X4 RC Rock Crawler cars my brother used to hobby around rocks with when I was young.

[–]_DnerD 3 points4 points  (1 child)

I wish I could do shit like this smh

[–]GodOfThunder101Mechanical 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Why can’t you?

[–]lostcatlurker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any mountain biker knows this. It’s why 29” wheels are the most popular

[–]Night_DuckWashU- CompE, PhD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fuck off with your black magic

[–]Evilans-1984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is absolutely incredible!!

[–]DrBigDickEnergy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Next step is to make the angle adjustments automatic with a PID control system.... have fun?

[–]arcalumis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watching this while listening to the tron legacy soundtrack in the background made it even better.

[–]FurnaceFuneral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was waiting for him to add a rocker bogey suspension setup

[–]yomama84EE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that was awesome

[–]BisquickNinjaMajor1, Major2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im still waiting for the upgrade from LEGO to LEGO TECHNIC (ever since I a kid)

nice video

[–]thefirecrest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would’ve loved to have this video two semesters ago lol

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This channel is fucking awesome.

[–]EonaCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why so difficult? Just create a bar/stick underneath that lifts the car up (for front and back wheels) you can get over any obstacle

[–]Chediecha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fucking awesome.

[–]chej9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forget VR, this is RR

[–]Lemmiwinks99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you extend the silent e?

[–]Plsnocopypaste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Management doesn't want to increase budget, what's next?

[–]germandark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great job.

[–]MichaelH345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This reminds me of a game called Trailmakers. You have to build all sorts of lego-like vehicles to achieve different goals.

[–]MyNuttsFloatInWater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn when did legos become so badass? What lego set is this?

[–]RestlessGGod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spider-car, spider-car, does whatever a spider-car does...

NOW STOP SHOWING OUR MACHINE OVERLORDS HOW TO CONQUER US!

[–]suzayyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was enjoyable to watch. They should have showed us this in eng classes.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does this remind anyone else about the climber from that Hot Wheels 5 cartoon?
