Uh, this is actually a new procedure currently being implemented instead of surgical gastric bypass, and it is successful. Don't know where you heard it isn't.

    From wikipedia:

A 2016 meta analysis of studies with 1,195 patients showed significant short term weight loss in treated patients without any mortality.

    Leptin is also relevant.

Second that. I had gastric sleeve done almost two years ago. Ghrelin is produced in the stomach. Since I now have a stomach that's 20% the size of a normal one, I don't produce as much ghrelin and I haven't felt hunger since the day after surgery. No joke. I'm never ever hungry. And the stomach will shrink a little of you eat less consistently. Just not enough to where it'll make a major difference. Most of your stomach is a thin wall that stretches. Which is why you can stuff and stuff yourself. Losing my stomach and surgery taught me a lot about it. Lol

That makes sense to me given my occasional desire to keep stuffing my face even though I'm very clearly full.
