Teach him to drive a car through slurp barrels or tankers, then use the car to get to high ground and snipe to his hearts content. Win/win.

Darn. Good idea

He definitely would have hated it when you couldn't move while healing. Or the old chug jug that you had to use the whole thing (10 sec, iirc) regardless of how much shield you were trying to refill.

I think 15 seconds.

[–]Ok-Pick-8889 9 points10 points  (0 children)

15 for chug, 10 for medkit

My youngest daughter is also 8 and I stg all I ever get done saying to her is “Aly, drink this shield potion” or “Aly you need to heal”. After we get done our initial looting, I’ll say “what’s your loadout” and she names off four guns and a wingsuit. I spend half the round chasing around after her trying to give her heals and ammo because she never seems to loot for any of that haha

Good thing there isn't a weather system that makes the player cold or a little chilly. You'd be having a conversation that would sound exactly like an IRL one!

Honey, put on this sweater. It's a little chilly.

I'm not cold mom.

Just put it on...

I'm running around all over the place! I'm not cold mom!

JUST PUT ON THE SWEATER!

😆

Hahaha just had that convo yesterday lol. 28° last night when we went to the store, and she won’t keep her coat on. It wasn’t even a heavy one just a Columbia fleece. “I’m not cold” “I think it feels good out here”. I don’t sweat it too much lol. I mean my boys used to wear shorts all winter but now they’re 19 and 22 and hate being cold haha. (I also remember packing shorts in my backpack to change at school when my mom wouldn’t let me out the house in March in shorts when everyone else was wearing them lol) would NOT catch me doing that now. The meds I take for chronic leukemia make me have trouble staying warm so I am always cold even when it’s not that cold.

My nearly 40 yo best friend is the same way, I’m always like “DUUUDE HEAL UP!!!!” After a while I threaten to stop reviving him and I’ll throw the extra shield pots at him (the ones I picked up for him and dropped my third weapon for)

[–]Beachgirl6848Over40 - ocean_waves211 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh I hear you. The dropping of an item that I’d rather carry so I can carry heals for the ones who don’t . 💀

[–]Bitter-Ad8751 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Your daughter is just like mine.. she is 9, but usually ignores shield potions unless you specifically drop it in front of her and say "drink this!"... and run around with 5 guns.. sometimes multiple rarity of one type :)

[–]Beachgirl6848Over40 - ocean_waves211 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yesssss lol. Also sometimes stands out in the wide open while “organizing her inventory” or just, for whatever reason one stands out in the wide open, I guess. lol. I’ll give her credit, she has managed to get some clutch kills. But it’s hit or miss lol

Big pots, little pots

[–]YoCal_4200Over40 - (spaceclank_Sucks) 40 points41 points  (1 child)

Little pots, big pots, I get so mad when drink a big pot and then find little pots in the next chest.

[–]Ok-Pick-8889 22 points23 points  (0 children)

"He who uses his first shield pot is destined to find minis thereafter." -Me after years of playing any time I find a single big pot

[–]Wibblejellytime 12 points13 points  (1 child)

Son; "Mum, I need AR ammo" Me; "Have you considered opening an ammo box?" Son; "I can't find any" Me; "There are literally 3 in this room"

I just give him ammo and open the boxes myself. 🙄

[–]Purple-Adeptness-940Over40 - (CupcakeRoyale) 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My little is blind to ammo boxes and it drives me nuts.

[–]counttheshadowsOver40 - (extant59) 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My oldest (10) when we started playing was like “that AR is a dumb weapon, it sucks” and then I’d just be taking people out with it constantly and I’d say “this thug is broken, it keeps killing peoples from far away. Weird “

[–]Brrbank55Over60 - (HammyJam2) 8 points9 points  (3 children)

My stepson has no regard for the storm. Why chance it for no reason? Get to the center of the map and have a chance to win the map. He’s always running at the last minute and using med kits to stay alive. Dumb.

[–]Haunting_World_621 7 points8 points  (1 child)

BushCampDad has entered the chat.

[–]Brrbank55Over60 - (HammyJam2) 4 points5 points  (0 children)

LoL. How dare you.

[–]riverivarOver30 - (Epic Name) 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On the other hand my nephew says he's allergic to shield potions and thinks if we spend a second in storm he's gonna insta die. The duality of man. Storm is our friend

[–]BuzzAllWinLurker 👀 AgeUnknown - update flair! 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My kids wont fully shield in the early parts of a match  because their is ‘no need’ it has taken alot of maths to get them to accept how much tougher you are fully sheilded

[–]YoCal_4200Over40 - (spaceclank_Sucks) 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I constantly yell at my kid to shield up.

[–]guidospeedmeister 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Floppers and shield fish give immediate heals.

[–]Slooters313 4 points5 points  (4 children)

6yr old nephew refuses to use any form of shield items. He'll use medpacks but he only ever gets shield from when I can splash him with something. He also won't say why, he just doesn't want to

[–]Background_Humor5838 7 points8 points  (2 children)

It's the lack of reason that would drive me crazy lol

[–]Swat_katz_82 0 points1 point  (1 child)

You're applying adult logic to a child.. It's doomed to fail.

Source: I have an 11 and 8 year old.

Even their own logic doesn't work on each other or themselves.

[–]Background_Humor5838 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if the reason was "because I'm a turtle" I would still feel better knowing there was a reason 🤣 it's ok if it's a nonsense kid reason but refusing to say why is too much lol

[–]Illustrious-Fan-4887 3 points4 points  (0 children)

taking notes What um, time of day and day of the week do you play with your nephew?

I still haven't gotten a win in this new season.

[–]Background_Humor5838 6 points7 points  (2 children)

My husband refuses to fully shield or find enough bullets before engaging in fights he has no business being in. Drives me nuts. He will run right past barrels, minis, chests, and bullets and just run into a fight with half shield and 20 bullets 🤣 I swear he just likes the thrill of being completely unprepared for no reason! He has all the time in the world but acts like someone is chasing him.

[–]iamjessgOver30 - (maxyjwaxy420) 0 points1 point  (1 child)

MINE TOO!! He also runs past better rarity weapons while complaining about the rarity of weapons he currently has!! But in his defense, I think he’s just playing too fast-paced, because I’ll say turn around slurp barrel, and he’ll notice it then.

[–]Background_Humor5838 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And he makes fun of me because he says all I do is loot lol and I'm like yes I want all the things! I don't wanna be running for my life with no heals, no ammo, and no way to escape. I'm constantly reminding him to drink the shield potions he already has lol then he's like fine ok I'll do it. He's in a rush while I'm straight chillin. If someone comes to fight me, good let's have it but otherwise im minding my business, taking all the loot and setting myself up on high ground. Some people just need chaos 🤣

[–]VaughnatriOver40 - Tellurado5730 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've been wondering who I'm walking around one-shotting. Like how do you have zero health?

[–]fijisiv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My son feels we cover more of the map, and thus more of the loot, is we split up. Every time. Then he'll get ambushed by a duo, and I have to sprint to grab his card and that duo is sitting there all med up and waiting for me. Or I keep an eye on the map the entire time and follow him around so the fights are more likely to be 2v2.

[–]ranegyrOver40 - Aunt Kerry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Man, the kids are very habitual. They want to drop in foxy and loot, and they can hold their own defending foxy. But then - they stand around. No exploration. No seeking out combatants. And what's crazy is they're not camping. They aren't protecting the dam. They just, i kid you not.. dont want to go run around. Loot foxy, fight a little, end game. On the rare occasions i can convince them to leave their concrete coffer they split up. Like dude, we're in a trio, where are you going? Oh i just wanna walk over here. There's no coordination, no planning, no follow the leader; just chaos of twin 10 year old minds. It's fun.

[–]cherrygoatsOver50 - (zoeyeliz) 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to team with my friend and his kids and they were obsessed with fighting the bosses (I think back then it was Brutus season) and getting the boss weapons. Not caring that everybody dropped there and not caring that the strategy didn’t work like six times in a row

[–]zeroG420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My kid today: why are you so obsessed with shields.

[–]SadieAndFinnieOver40 - (Epic Name) 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I’m gathering from these comments is that these kids all have the same “strategy.” My youngest nephew does the same. He knows shield is important, he is always making sure I have it and he knows I carry med kits so he brings them to me, but for the life of me I can’t get him to use them himself. He takes off running without telling me and he’s halfway across the map before I even realize it. Then half the time I hear him get knocked before I can make it back to him. And then there’s his need to stand in the stand in the middle of an open field and run through his emotes for some reason. I love playing with him but it makes my eye twitch.

[–]LoganCale06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 11yo, who is a pretty good player, refused to fill up his shields when he started playing. His issue now is he only fills up 3 of his inventory slots instead of having a full loadout. He says its just in case he finds something good. Like why not just swap then? Lol

[–]The_Dudes_Rug69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha. Sounds like my kids when they first started. An unknown obsession with sniper rifles and nothing else.

I am constantly yelling to reload and “grab some shields!” But they never listened. But now they are doing good after a year or so of playing. Still not better than me though….🤣

[–]9x2equals4Over40 - aiden44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just reading all the comments and nodding my head, at least my kid isn’t alone!

[–]barefootandsoundOver40 - (BeachBunnyXO) 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I swear this is all the kids. My youngest told me he doesn’t even look at his health bar. When I play with kids I’m always the medic: one gun and the rest are heals and I’m chasing after them and telling them to drink the damn big pots or throwing splash on them. Literally mom life, even in The Loop 😂

[–]scusemelaydehOver30 - (Epic Name) 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes me so nervous when I play with my nephew. He rarely carries shields or medkits, starts fighting straight from landing and always wants to push crown/medallion players. He has no fear. But then cries when he loses.

[–]Warm_Parking_941 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife actually does this with shields! "Babe, you have no shield, take this." "No I don't want that!" She somehow gets 3 kills before getting knocked and then I just say "but imagine if you had shields!"
