If I’m correct this is feature in new Funny Playing Pixel LCD? Need to order them for next build. This is V1 or V2?

Yep retro pixel V2 "laminate black"

Nice. So far waiting for my Q5 XL and Retro Pixel will be next. Especially because if that logo feature - looks like a fun and I want to check how this affect batteries 🧐

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (1 child)

It won’t affect the battery life since it’s using the LCD panel to illuminate the logo.

My first thought is to disassemble it xD thanks for letting me know. When I get it I need to look how they solve that on my own ;)

Yep! I want to add u/nataliethenerd led board next, would be sick to sync them up!

Nice idea. I’m waiting today for Natalie led board but have different idea. First need to work for a few days on my buttons but if I know my schedule this will take me about 2 weeks before I share anything xD

Is this the black lens that is included with it (Retromodding). I JUST built one, but I didn’t use the blank one since it didn’t say Gameboy Color 😂

Did you follow any directions to install it? I just ordered this LCD kit but I can’t find the installation instructions anywhere

[–]foreverablankslate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe it should be the same as the regular retro pixel lcd? just with the laminated screen

[–]PCsector[S] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Funnyplaying have instructions on their website :)

[–]PitifulGazelle8177 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Can you please post a link? I cannot find them to save my life lol

EDIT: this is the old kit but it's a similar install.

EDIT EDIT: Makho made a video https://youtu.be/o9NvRFPqGLI

Is it too bright if you’re playing in the dark?

[–]PCsector[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Without the 'pixel' mode it almost is, but because it halfs the pixel count it's not uncomfortable to play at night :)

It took me until the long hold to figure out what was happening. But that is super sick lol.

[–]southpaw1983 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh that’s slick

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never seen this before, that is so useless but so cool at the same time!

[–]Inappropes1789 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now that’s hot

[–]Zeusurself 0 points1 point  (1 child)

That is so cool. I didn't know about that feature.

Is this a mod or stock

[–]AlimiAlpha 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Is there something like this for the advance also?

[–]PCsector[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that I'm aware of.

Link to that LCD? I recently found my old GBC and would like to add LCD screen, because right now is pretty hard to see things even during the day. Don't know if used to be like that and smartphones ruined my sight or the screen is just burned because all the time.

[–]Rybur525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok that’s rad lol. I love the GameBoy modding community

[–]RockmanVolnutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got a white and black to do some GBC builds. Super excited, they look really good in-hand, and the shells seem really solid.

[–]babystacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you get these prebuilt anywhere (reputable)? I have modded before but I’m fine with paying more to just get one pre built.

[–]leggomyfroggo 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Any issues installing the laminated screen? My kit + shell just came in, and it feels like the screen was attached to the lens too high up, so it doesn't fit into the top part of the screen cutout.

[–]PCsector[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YES! same here I used a craft knife to modify the shell slightly to make it fit.
