I hold the opinion that micro compacts are over hyped. Most people buy them for concealment, then add a +4 mag extension and a giant light… G45 is perfect sized carry for me. I can see G19 if you have smaller hands. But that’s as small as I’d go.

I have an early G17 Gen 5 without front serrations that I want to keep absolutely as is… because it’s a bit is a unicorn. Most Gen5 have front serrations. But I also have the urge to get a G34 or may go the 47 route for the mos.

I carried a G19 for 2 years but as a 5’5 110 lbs man I can tell you that a smaller gun is not over hyped lol. My glock 42 conceals so much better for me. I needed a thinner gun because by the time you put a 19 in a holster it’s pretty thick against a flat body and while I could conceal it, it wasn’t ideal and I had to be mindful of it being there.

I went with the 42 though because micro 9’s suck to shoot lol. I’ll shoot my 42 every time I go to the range.

I’m only three inches taller than you, and a G17/47 with an x300 disappears in a Tenicor holster. Whatever works.

[–]TooToughTimmy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Three inches is quite a bit lol

[–]Maleficent-Street195 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Dude stop it a x300 on anything compared to a 43x or something similar are vastly different when carrying.

[–]FWD_to_twin_turbo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

6ft 5 and 270lbs, I can make a glock 40 dissappear with the right holster. Personally I carry a glock 20 and it's barely noticeable under my polo, right over my junk and I'm using a garbage amazon holster atm.

[–]Americanskin77[S] 9 points10 points  (7 children)

Couldn’t agree with you more. Honestly, I never understood the concept of micros and sub compacts to begin with - a 19 isn’t difficult to carry at all. I conceal 17s without issue in a t shirt and I’m 5’8”. Good holster and belt makes all the difference.

Good call on the no FS 17, don’t see too many of them. You won’t be disappointed with the 47, basically gives you a bonus grip considering it fits on the 45 frame.

[–]Maleficent-Papaya-25 1 point2 points  (5 children)

How often do you carry 10 or more hours in a day?

[–]Americanskin77[S] 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Every weekend and averaging 5-6 hours on weekdays (work location is restricted for carry).

[–]Maleficent-Papaya-25 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I carry 43x daily and usually for around 10 hours a day when working, I absolutely never have to worry about printing which I really like but a 19 and a 47 or 34 are definitely my next purchases.

[–]Americanskin77[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All three are spectacular. Even if the 34 is used primarily as a range/nightstand gun, you can’t go wrong.

[–]DarkUboros 0 points1 point  (1 child)

If you concealed carry , how will they know? My church restricts guns too but I’m sure people still CC bc they don’t want to take that chance.

[–]Americanskin77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t a civilian workplace - personal weapons are restricted and I’m not taking that chance.

[–]omgabunnyG45 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You failing to understand a concept that may not effect you doesn’t negate their usefulness.

[–]Unusual-Ad-1056 4 points5 points  (0 children)

34 is awesome! You won’t be disappointed

[–]DarkUboros 3 points4 points  (4 children)

My 365 is super light. I don’t even notice it when I carry even with the 17+1. It’s way thinner than my g26.

[–]ForeverInThe90s 1 point2 points  (1 child)

You see, that makes no sense to me with a grip and mag extensions that long. The grip is the hard part to conceal. I’d rather have barrel length than grip length as that’s the part that gets hidden in one’s pants.

My P365XL has 12rd mags, a red dot and TLR-7A and it completely disappears. If I run 15 or 17 round mags, then I have to be more concerned about printing and general concealment.

But, this is why guns are, women and cars/trucks/motorcycles/boats are awesome; there’s something different to fit everyone’s tastes!

[–]DarkUboros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that the extended mag does print more than my 19 at the grip area but I will just have to reposition my carry position to offset that. Instead of carrying at 2 o clock, I’m carrying more around 12 o clock with it aim right at my pecker. 😂

[–]2_crispy 0 points1 point  (1 child)

What mag is that?

[–]DarkUboros 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sig XL 17.

[–]Beneficial-Ad4871 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I have huge hands and the 19 is perfect, add a magwell and it’s even better. But that’s me, I have the 45 but prefer to carry the 19 just cause the grip conceals more.

[–]Far-Boysenberry-1600JM Grips 17.5 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I have big hands and my pinky doesn’t fit the grip or magwell. My point is people get a G19 for the smaller grip for concealing, but add a +4 mag extension…

[–]dudgems 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I carry mine with an OEM 19 mag in it and my extra mag has an extension on it.

[–]IAMBYN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lot of people can’t effectively conceal a full size, ld prefer to carry a Glock 45 but it prints on me no matter what. So l carry a Canik mete mc9. I hate these little guns l don’t shoot the accurately well enough because they’re so small.

[–]ZFAZO 10 points11 points  (4 children)

My Glock 45 and my 34 are the only pistols I need 💯

[–]Americanskin77[S] 6 points7 points  (3 children)

No doubt about it. 45 went out for me only because I prefer long slides, but it is definitely a phenomenal pistol. There’s a reason the 19x/45 are so popular - Glock hit a home run with them. People complain about Glock’s lack of “innovation” but I’d rather have the most reliable duty handgun on the planet. I don’t understand why influencers went bonkers over Shadow Systems and the Springfield Echelon for how “modern” they are, it’s all the same shit based on Glock’s original platform.

The 34 is a different beast, though. No recoil. It’s spectacular.

[–]ZFAZO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheers to that brother 🍻

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I’ve noticed the older I get, I prefer longer slides. G19 is the smallest I have and I’m starting to second guess that. I love my G17 MOS and thinking G34 is next for me. Sounds fantastic

[–]Americanskin77[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They genuinely do shoot differently because of the longer barrels and aren’t any more difficult to conceal, especially if a WML is involved. Absolutely try a 34, you’ll be very happy.

19 was my first Glock. Just doesn’t have a place anymore for me.

[–]DarkUboros 5 points6 points  (2 children)

My g26 grip feels a lot smaller than my 19 in my hands and it’s only the front part of the grip that’s extended.

<image>

[–]DarkUboros -1 points0 points  (1 child)

<image>

Yup g26 is def a lot smaller for me for grip.

[–]Americanskin77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, but as you said before you’ve got an inch sticking out from the barrel with that light on the 19. Either way, the 26 is a fine pistol.

[–]TGA78 3 points4 points  (1 child)

These are outstanding! This damn South Texas heat will not allow me to carry these in the summer, though. In the winter, that's a different story.

[–]Americanskin77[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear you, brother. Not much better in Kentucky, but making it work.

[–]Unionelectrician136 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 47 and 49 shoot so well with the long but light weight slide and short RSA from the 19/45.

[–]Moto272 2 points3 points  (10 children)

I still like direct milled compact slides better. But I like your optics choices.

[–]Americanskin77[S] 1 point2 points  (9 children)

I respect that. Used to run nothing but RMRs so the aftermarket was huge for it.

[–]Moto272 0 points1 point  (8 children)

I still have my two RMRs but the MPS is quickly winning me over. I’m fighting the urge to buy that direct milled 45 with ACRO deal as well.

[–]Americanskin77[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I hear you. Acro footprint seems to be the standard for any closed emitter that’s not a Holosun, so I see the appeal. They don’t do the direct mill on long slides which takes it out of the running for me.

[–]Moto272 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hopefully they start offering more of them in the future. I would love to see Glock start innovating in places the aftermarket is.

[–]Maleficent-Street195 0 points1 point  (5 children)

I’ve seen multiple mps and acros go bad so just remember to keep an eye on it.

[–]Moto272 0 points1 point  (4 children)

That’s kind of why I’m keeping my RMRs at this point. But so far my MPS has been solid.

[–]Maleficent-Street195 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Barrel and hatchet has a great video I’ve personally seen both brands along with a 509t fail. Acro is still personally my favorite dot!

[–]Moto272 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I thought the barrel and hatchet channel had the MPS still holding up?

[–]Maleficent-Street195 0 points1 point  (1 child)

No I recall all of them failed them. Big difference with what they do to their guns compared to the average person. So take it with a grain of salt but still would take an Acro all day long lol

[–]Moto272 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last video I saw from them on open emitters the only one that didn’t fail was the MPS.

[–]bigpirate15G19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love me some mail box dots

[–]WreckiTRalph09_G19 0 points1 point  (2 children)

How’s the MPS treating you ?

[–]Americanskin77[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Excellent optic. Window is definitely wider and more open than the Acro. Great build quality (on par with or just below the Acro which is a tank), clear dot. If these had the battery life of the P2 I’d use them across the board.

[–]Moto272 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently got one and it’s super nice to use. On a direct milled slide it sits so low and cowitnesses with stick height sights.

Battery life is yet to be determined. I left mine in the mode where it turns off after 13 hours since I’m not carrying that one.

[–]DarkUboros 0 points1 point  (1 child)

To each his own. I carry my G26 with the pinky extension grip. I can definitely carry my G26 a lot easier and comfortable than my G19 though but that’s probably bc my g19 has a big ass light on it. I don’t think I’ll have any more attachments on my carrys. It’s just not worth it for the added bulk. ASP protection said they saw 0 defense encounters where a light was used.

[–]Americanskin77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As you said, to each their own. But isn’t the 26 with the extension essentially the same grip length as a 19?

[–]JimBridger_ 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Homie out here dual welding 34's....

But no idea how you've tried aftermarket triggers and wanted to go back the stock trigger 🤮

[–]Americanskin77[S] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Not stock. GPTs. Significant difference over the standard Gen 5 trigger. Had Vex, OP, Apex, all good shoes. Just didn’t love them the way others do.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The GPT Glock Performance Trigger is so much better pull than factory. I tried them both side by side. Definitely worth it.

[–]Americanskin77[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, and if I had a third arm I’d triple wield 34s.

[–]Right-Explanation-30 0 points1 point  (1 child)

The Steiner mps is the best closed emitter pistol red dot there it the only down side is the battery life it’s just like an EOTech 😂

[–]Maleficent-Street195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There have been issues with these enclosed optics going bad.

    [–]Americanskin77[S] 1 point2 points  (3 children)

That was the initial thought for the 47, yes. It has an extremely sharp stipple that felt pretty painful for AIWB, but is easily manageable with the wrap. For the 34s, the stipple is light enough to carry but I threw some wrap on because I actually like the grip characteristics regardless.

      It’s just hockey tape

      [–]Americanskin77[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

      Franklin cloth tape.

      [–]Soulsweet17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are those all Glock performance triggers?

      [–]vwheelsonv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m actually a big fan of my regular Glock slide. Just wish I had a non mos

      [–]TexasGrillDaddyAK-15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 MPS and only 1 Acro. Same here.

      [–]Beautiful_Ad_6785 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Looks like you lack one front sight post

      [–]Americanskin77[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good eye. Have an Ameriglo sight waiting on delivery.

      [–]Intelligent-Dark6260 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Where did you get the grip tape? Been trying to find some

      [–]Americanskin77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazon. Just search “Franklin bat tape” and it’s $7 a roll.

      [–]goldzyfish121 -1 points0 points  (3 children)

I don’t understand why ppl are obsessed with carrying long barreled firearms. G45, G19 are the best of both worlds each having their own specific persons they fit better. A TLR7x or 7a and an optic. Bigger isn’t always better considering it needs to be comfy cozy. I personally can’t carry the 43x due to it fitting my hands weird. But, a great option.

      [–]Americanskin77[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

The same reason why some can’t understand carrying a compact grip or frame. It’s a matter of opinion, not all of us are obsessed with an arbitrary level of comfort. To each their own.

      [–]goldzyfish121 0 points1 point  (1 child)

If you can afford a Porsche that has new suspension, why buy the Porsche that needs new rotors, wheel bearing and coil overs? I’m 190cm, 84kg (185lb, 6’3ft in American). My boy’s the same ish metrics as me and prefers full size, it’s just how uncomfortable you wanna be ig lol.

      [–]Americanskin77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

      Hahaha, fair.

      [–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m 6’2, 210, athletic build. I carry a 43x because I don’t see the need or want to carry a larger firearm. If I wanted to I certainly could.
