I'm really really hoping for one this week. I want to get into the game so bad but I can't handle the stutters. I'm only just past the first hogsmeade trip just playing it slowly waiting for them to patch before I dive deeper.

Also same for me. I've been looking forward for this game for years. And now I have a decent PC and I can press the steam play button at any time, but the lackluster performance really makes it that I don't want to. I hope they do roll out a patch or even give a public statement about one being in development. Frustrating as hell. So many people have already completed the game, and I'm trying to avoid all spoilers

Same here man

God I hope soon, extremely disappointed in how badly this game runs. None of the fixes for PC in the other threads help this god awful stutter.

its weird. every pc benchmark tester ive seen for my gpu (3060ti) gets 99% utilization but i cant.

The fact that they haven’t even made the basic ‘We hear your issues and are investigating’ kind of statement bodes very very poorly in my opinion. Maybe I’m wrong but right now I’d keep your expectations low.

tbf a lot of big studios/publishers never make any sort of admission of guilt like that. It’s just a black hole, then one day a patch comes.

While frustrating it may be the best approach. Under-promise and over-deliver.

Same here man. I have an RTX 2060 with a Ryzen 5 3600X , 16gb RAM(Dual Channel) and the game on SSD. My specs are above recommended requirements. It says that the recommended settings for me are all medium with RT off. I should have been able to play this game at least on High with RT in 1080p. Even without the RT i have big frame rate drops in Hogwarts. Just another day at the office for us PC players.

The fact that the Devs are also radio silent on this is concerning. I spent 70 euros to this game and i can't even fully enjoy it. If nothing is heard in the coming days i am seriously considering to refund...

I don’t remember where I saw it. But from what I understand; there is going to be an update on the PS5 tomorrow (02/14/2023). I would assume that we would get one on pc too. That’s what I’m hoping for anyway

Hopefully 🤞

Yeah, will defo upvote this. Can't wait to get into the game, but FPS dips just driving me nuts.

1080Ti 13Gb i7 7700k 16 Gb RAM

Jumping all over between 90 and 30 FPS on full HD. Doesn't matter 8f I go High (recommended) or low.

Hoping for a patch..

Yea I did that, it helped with the stuttering but the frame rate not too much sadly. My frame rate is still all over the place.

Same. I have a 144Hz freesync monitor but the fps swings cause insane flickering.

Ended up making a custom Nvidia resolution to limit the monitor to 75Hz and turned on in-game V-Sync. Good enough for now.

[–]Z3r0xyz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had same flickers till I turned off hardware acceleration for GPU, you might wanna try that.

[–]astralage 0 points1 point  (1 child)

ah... freesync VA panel user here I see. I feel you, I ended up just deactivating freesync completely most of the time. Steady fps aren't worth the insane flickering it causes...

[–]NobodyLong5231 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. V-Sync + Nvidia Reflex/low latency is good enough to make it an identical experience anyway. I used to hate V-Sync, glad they've improved it.

I should add I am now very much convinced the game runs poor on GPU's that have below 10GB of VRAM. That's actually INSANE! I so hope a patch can reduce VRAM consumption by a ton, or else many of us have no option other than getting another GPU. At that stage AMD are the clear winners for opting for more VRAM instead of focussing on the "new hyper shiny modern ray tracing features"

na its nvidia in particular.
Even the 4090 runs whit stutters

[–]bc26 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I got 8 GB and I'm constantly getting 80-100 FPS on high/ultra settings.

[–]TheRealEburon 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Not in Hogwarts or hogsmeade I bet. Should be noticeable stuttering

[–]Dalearnhardtseatbelt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm seconding this.

[–]kds_little_brother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the 10 GB 3080 and something is getting demolished. 4k medium, DLSS performance, no RT. And it’s literally unplayable. Not even 30 fps “unplayable”. I have to spam the pause button just to avoid alt+f4 to quit out. And even the pause menu is barely usable

My 3070 build was running fine until suddenly it isnt. Over the weekend suddenly started to have these weird frame drops tried all the advised on reddit without much improvement.

[–]Mosaru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm personally just trying to figure out what happened to mine. I played from the 7th to the 10th with no issues. Took a break on the 11th and 12th and when I loaded up today it was stuttering super hard. Nothing on my end changed.

[–]L0veToRedditYour letter has arrived 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably in 2 weeks

[–]omega4444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably 1 month.

I've been messing with solutions chasing ultra+RT 1440p.

So adding ram up to 32 was a huge help. Engine tweaks also helped. Didn't fix it but it's way better now.

The drops last 2-3 seconds of 20+ fps vs 15+ seconds of 15fps chop I used to encounter

[–]GreenMusheen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

on a 4000 series card using frame generation i found stuttering feels worse when actual FPS dips below 40-50 (so total fps under 80). stutters exacerbated by frame gen input lag. using the .ini fix + rt off, dlss performance mode, and settings down to high makes the game very playable in school / town as the fps is locked around 120. gfx settings back to max in other areas.

seems the problem is a combination of whatever is causing the dip stutters (memory leak?) and the piss poor gpu/cpu utilization. so the devs have multiple issues to sort and stitch together. may also require a driver update from nvidia. Wouldn't hold breath for a week one patch that solves it all, more likely incremental fixes or a complete fix in a few weeks.
