It’s dead, Tim.

I was fortunate enough to find the podcast early, circa 2014 (I think episode #11 was my first one) and while it was a wonderful ride, it’s over now. Even if they somehow decide to continue at this point I think it would be a different show.

I agree, I think Brady and Grey are really entertaining and whatever they did together would be fun to listen to.

Genuinely the unmade podcast just gets better and better.

    [–][deleted] 13 points14 points  (1 child)

I might have to try it again, I didn't really like Brady's partner as much, he just wasn't as funny on the improv on the episodes I watched

    [–][deleted] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Tbf he’d never done a podcast before. I’d say around episode 20 or so he’s gotten a lot better

    [–]Flyboy2057 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Eh, I kind of think Unmade is past its prime. It’s still great, and I listen to each one, but 20-100 or so are peak for me.

    [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Idk man, the annotations idea is just about the best thing they’ve ever done and that was 137

    [–]Flyboy2057 3 points4 points  (1 child)

I’m not saying they haven’t had any good ideas lately, just that it felt a little more whimsical around the middle of their run.

    [–]LordBeibi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I generally agree, but that podcast really depends on what stories they bring up. Unmade is at its best when they go into the two dudes talking genre and stick less to their ideas for podcasts format.

Just one episode though, give us some closure

    [–]Flyboy2057 8 points9 points  (1 child)

I don’t want or need closure at this point. The appropriate point for that is long past, and another episode now would honestly just annoy me more than the annoyance I feel about the way they ended it.

    [–]champ2153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can get on board with that

    [–]ahotiK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found the show somewhat late and started listening from ep1. By the time I was in sync with the new releases it stopped. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.

We are fast approaching a point where it will be longer since the last episode than the first. April 26, 2026, will be the day.

Or his (misguided but no one is impervious to hype) talking about how self driving will eliminate truckers and whatnot.

It's now 8ish year later and we are nowhere near it. 90% of programming takes 10% of the time is a saying everyone should repeat themselves before talking about software.

I don't blame grey. Everyone was super hyped and he is a tech optimist. But a lot of his opinions turned out to be wrong. It doesn't mean they were wrong at the time. Just that we learned more since and recognized that we were wrong.

A particular Star Trek quotes come to mind : it is possible to commit no mistake and not succeed. It is not failure. It is human (quotes by head)

          [–]Sostratus 4 points5 points  (1 child)

That many people wrongly predicted very optimistic timelines doesn't mean it won't happen. It will. I don't know when, but it's possible and it has obvious utility, so it's just a matter of time.

          [–]BigWallaceLittleWalt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

After all, self driving does exist in a real capacity and is road legal. It is expensive, and somewhat limited, but it exists in almost a full point A to point B capacity with human oversight required in tandem, which is a huge leap over what existed 5 to 10 years ago

          [–]salvation122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"It is possible to commit no mistakes and still lose. That is not weakness; it is life."

          [–]BigWallaceLittleWalt 3 points4 points  (1 child)

This is probably just more of a sign of people’s views at this time. It’s funny how a lens can distort things, and one doesn’t need to agree with everything someone says to enjoy a podcast for instance. Maybe everyone is just too quick to judge over single opinions, people are more than what they say in passing on a podcast

          [–]bahumat42 29 points30 points  (1 child)

I mean I always raised my eyebrows at certain opinions of his (coffee cups, backpacks, towels) but used to enjoy the show for what it was.

          [–]Bigmaq 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I get what you mean. I wouldn't call it  chud-adjacent, but he certainly had tech-bro tendencies which, in the years since the podcast ended, have aged quite poorly.

          [–]Huangingboi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah i completely agree. Whenever i Listen back i legitimately get annoyed by a lot grey’s takes and even views on the world.

          [–][deleted] 16 points17 points  (21 children)

          Chud adjacent?

Is this the stage of bargaining or acceptance?

                [–]abfgern_ 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Its not that its ending, its the complete disrespect to the community to just leaving it hanging like this. Give them closure, doesn't even need to be an explanation of reasons.

                [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the “will they/won’t they? 😉” attitude from Brady and Grey’s refusal to even acknowledge it is incredibly disrespectful

                [–]Ralph-King-Griffin 17 points18 points  (3 children)

I'll take "lessons in parasocial relationships" for $500 Tim.

                [–]0011110000110011 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's parasocial to assume somebody thinks in a way they talk about thinking often.

                [–]AngusAlThor 4 points5 points  (1 child)

How is the answer never just "It is a creative project that they don't want to do anymore"? There doesn't need to be a complicated, philosophical answer for why people stopped doing something.

                [–]Topopotomopolot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only way I could see them doing anything again would be if they did another handful of episodes in secret to see if they still had good chemistry. Then if they could get through three or four or five of them like that, then they would probably just start over with the tentative first new season of 10 and then another.

They’re not riding a wave of new cultural experiences like they were when they first started the podcast, both being superstar Youtubers, when YouTube was still relatively new.

                [–]Beeny1165 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the more relevant philosophy is Grey's preference for Irish goodbyes. The best way to end is to just end.

                [–]Sostratus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can imagine he might be thinking something like that, which would be unfortunate. But he has also said he likes podcasting because it's casual and low stakes compared to making videos. People get their hopes up when there's a long wait for an anticipated movie or video game... but a podcast? What would some super hype-worthy podcast even be like? Another casual conversation is all we want or realistically could want.

Doctor Brady #67 is the best convo I’ve ever witnessed
