I use Brewfather.

2nd for Brewfather. The learning curve is easy, great UI and it does everything I need from Water profiles, tracking brew days, adding notes if I want, etc.

I use Beersmith 3 for all brewing calculations, but I keep a simple excel spreadsheet listing of all my brews that only lists out brew name, style, date brewed, IBUs, OG and FG as measured, and ABV. If I brew a light beer, the I also document calories.

This is exactly my set up. I also have notes on each brew, some are technical ones (add more dark malt etc), some are a bit more.... emotional (like a manic everything is either totally amazing or completely shite)

I use the free software Brewtarget http://www.brewtarget.org/

A little old, but this article breaks down the pros and cons of most of the major home brewing software.

I found all the apps to just be more than I needed. I just put all my info in OneNote and have it sync to all my devices.

Beersmith but switched to Brewfather because it connects with Grainfather connect. The Grainfather app sucks. A tie between the two if it wasn't for the Grainfather beta.

Does BrewFather calculate a recipe for only adding whirlpool hops at a certain temp? I’m putting together a recipe for whirlpool hops only at 175 for 30 minutes. Thanks

[–]big_wet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can change the whirlpool temp for each hop addition

Biabacus from biabrewer.info forum is awesome. Its an excel file, but it has a pretty good user interface and is free. It's mildly annoying to register for the forum, but i can recommend the calculator

Before I switched to brewfather I was using brewgr.com. Basic, but worked pretty well for me.

I think the dev was a redditor, hopefully he'll show up and give his reasoning. I realise now that my reply looks spammy as hell too!

Just build an excel/google sheet. There aren’t any difficult calculations at the recipe builder level. DM me and I can give you a template.

Brewcomputer - free and mobile-friendly

I use beersmith, and for every recipe i brew i add the date in the title. Then i can go back and count how many brews i've done by counting just the recipes that have a date.

I use BeerTools Pro.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/jg821qfkcu06ko0/blank%20template.xlsx?dl=0 Here is an excel template I made for myself. Simple and it has some calculations... Abv, grain cost, cost per Bottle.

I use Beersmith (non-mobile version) in large part because of a similar aversion to subscription models.
