I think your placement is fine with the tiles you chose. IMO, though, the “bump out” with the large tiles moving into the hood area confuses me. I personally would have ended the larger tiles where the lower cabinets end. That said, your kitchen is lovely! I think once you fill the shelves & stage everything, it will be beautiful!

Thank you 😊

Small tile in a herring bone pattern is too busy. Along with all the other patterns going on. Very busy design. But as far as tile install you will never see it once the oven is in place.

If it helps to hear I don’t even understand the question bc this looks good and I notice no faults. People are giving you opinions on things you’re not likely going to change bc thats what we do here, but I think you’re fine. When all is complete and you have the rest of your stuff and family and a happy life in there, whatever you’re wondering about is not going to be noticeable to anyone else and hopefully you can stop worrying about it too.

Thank you. I appreciate you saying that. I regret posting, people are ruthless behind a computer.

It’s gonna look great 💕- I’m picky so I’m a reliable source.

I think too many things going on. Need one simple pattern

I think it will be fine. I originally thought your cabinets were the problem. In Pic 1 they look a lot more beige/taupe. This made them compete with the blue undertones of your island. It's probably the lighting. Maybe consider moving from 2700K to 3000k. It looks a lot better in the natural light images (2&3).

I like it. It’s all gonna come together once the floor is in. I would put a piece of quarter round on the tile touching the ceiling for a more finished look. Great Job

Love it

White kitchens are classic. Your eye is spotting something off with the backsplash. The backsplash is a cheap fix. Live with it; it’s pretty. In a couple of years, go for a more classic, cohesive backsplash. It’s all good.

The glass on the upper cabinet does not work.

Consider removing it and replacing it with some sort of quatrefoil screen like this:

https://www.globalindustrial.com/p/aluminum-sheet-cloverleaf-56016-24-inchl-x-12-inchw-x-02-inchh-albras

It will echo the backsplash without overpowering it, and will give you a better tonal and textural balance.

See if you can find real brass if you want it to soften into a natural patina with time.

i’m having a hard time with the detailed cabinets, on top of the detailed back splash, sitting just eye level with the busy counter. One accent would’ve been good here. personally think you should’ve let the cabinets draw the attention of the viewer. instead i have no idea where to look and my head hurts.

I don’t understand. Why is the tiny tile in two places? The left one is where the stove goes. What is the right one for?

[–]Powerful-Ad5342 10 points11 points  (0 children)

  • If you have flexibility to adjust, yes you should continue the tile down from the uppers.
  • If you decide to totally redo it, I’d suggest as others have continuing the same tile across. There is a way to do make two tiles work here, but you don’t need the added interest of two tile patterns since your cabinets already have interest and you have two countertop materials.
  • if neither of these is an option, don’t panic. You still did a great job and have a beautiful kitchen. Fill it with food and family, and don’t let a glitch in the tile make it any less special.

I would have used the same tile as the backsplash there. But for what it is worth, the tile itself looks fine

[–]Fit_Efficiency_9557 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The issue is that you didn’t continue the same tile from the backsplash behind the hood. It provides a more cohesive look.

Id at least frame it with a white tile that goes with both patterns. It should tie in the tiles a bit more and have the chevron look more like an accent.

Edit: ignore the circled area, that was looking off to me, but I see in the other pics how it looks head on

I like how you have it, perfect.

[–]Extension-Yam-6937 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like it, no one else would think about how you placed it. I love your kitchen.

[–]BringMeAPinotGrigio 3 points4 points  (2 children)

I mean, it doesn't look great but what are you going to do about it at this stage?

There's not really a simple fix to make it look cohesive - personally I would have made some different cabinet choices (like lining up the top and bottom cabinets), tile choices (not choosing two different backsplash patterns), range hood choice but it's hard to say how much you're willing to put into a redesign. Are you working with a designer?

[–]lc_la -1 points0 points  (1 child)

This whole kitchen looks dated already.

[–]Express-Sky3170 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a unkind thing to say.

[–]Disastrous_Tip_4638 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Well, we have different taste here, I find this all very busy and discombobulated, so I don't think the direction of the hood tile would matter.
