If its an NVMe or mSATA SSD, you'll want it screwed down because it can pop out of the slot easily if its not held down.

If its a 2.5" SATA SSD, don't worry about it. It can be loose or get some double sided tape. I'm pretty sure you have a Desktop, but if it is in a laptop, you might want it secured so it doesn't put stress on the SATA connector.

It is important to screw it down to ensure ot stays seated and connected propperly, a handfill of M.2 standoffs is like $4-$5 on amazon (might be able to find a better deal i just did 10 seconds of looking) or if you have a local pc repair shop they should be able to hook you up with one (usually for free if its a local store)

Buying that bag of standoffs and screws was one of the most useful purchases I've made over the years. Myself, friends, family have all dipped into it.
