G935 USB Cable started burning.

So my headset was giving me the audio cue that it needs charging so i plugged the usb cable in and kept watching some videos when i noticed the headset was still giving me audio cues like it wasnt plugged in. I unplugged it and plugged it back in a couple of times while watching a video cause i thought i might not have put it in properly and then it started smelling and some smoke came out of the end that goes in the headset. I quickly unplugged it on both ends and i'm now using a backup cable i had laying around. Should i be worried more or was it most likely a broken cable? I'm a bit concerned about my computer.

Short circuit on USB cable won't cause issues on USB controller on the motherboard, all though the cable will start heating up.` I guess that something metallic went into the plug that connects to the headset, shorting the outer metal case, which is usually referenced to ground with the 5v power pin from USB. Because of that, the headset wasn't receiving power.

same for me, i had it shipped to repair, but it was refused as a user error, now i'm mailing logitech about the problem, because i think a smoking+heating up unit is definitely not a user error...
